If you live in the D.C. area and are serious about improving your GMAT score Sherpa Prep is the best solution available. The on-going services available to students who have completed the course are a clear differentiator from other test prep companies in the market. On a comparative basis Sherpa Prep offers a much higher value proposition to the larger firms in the industry.

Sherpa Prep was honestly the best way to prepare for the GRE. The pace of the course was excellent, the prices were unbeatable, the materials were fantastic and easy to use, and the class sizes were typically 5 students. I had 2 months to prepare for the GRE and Sherpa helped me get the scores I needed for the program I’m applying to. I’d definitely recommend this course to anyone studying for the GRE.

I was accepted by one of the top Global Executive MBA programs in the world a few weeks ago. I had the Sherpa team advise me as part of their MBA Admissions Consulting program, in addition to prepping with their GMAT class. I had a great experience with Sherpa Prep! I just did 5 hours of tutoring for focused work on bringing up my quantitative GRE score with Erin. He knew his stuff inside and out, and gave me strategies for studying and test-taking that helped me improve my score significantly. The books were also much better than others I had used before-- they covered the material more comprehensively and provided much more thorough explanations with the videos. I have been consistently working with Sherpa, specifically Erin, for about 7 months now and the support I've been offered along the way has been invaluable. The instructors really care about your progress and I had multiple 1:1 check ins with Erin to individualize my study plan outside of the courses. This paired along with entertaining and informative class content supported me in raising my score 100+ points. Definitely recommend Sherpa. The whole staff is amazing and using the resources offered and advertised (and more not advertised) was easier than I could've imagined.

I really needed accountability when studying for the GRE and Sherpa Prep provided it. Tae was a great teacher and made the material approachable and the 3-hour class pass by quickly. The study plan, question bank, and test day advice really helped me to stay on track and gave me the tools that I needed to prepare.

In terms of pricing, it's well worth the cost and by far the cheapest option in the DMV. I was able to raise my quant GRE score by 10 points, which I previously thought was impossible. I would highly recommend this class if you need a competitive GRE score for grad school admissions!

When I signed up for the Sherpa Prep in-person course I assumed the course sessions would be mostly 3 hours of straight GMAT material being thrown at you with an exclusive focus on GMAT concepts. What I found instead was a much more comprehensive and personalized experience where the focus of the course was not only to learn GMAT concepts, but to set yourself up for success at getting into a great MBA program.

The Sherpa Prep instructors provide an unparalleled level of personal attention and availability, they truly want you to succeed at the GMAT and in getting your MBA. Their approach to teaching GMAT concepts makes even the most complicated problems/concepts seem manageable. Expect to have many "ah ha!" moments when you find out that the types of problems you used to think were daunting, really are not. If you're looking for a plan to not only succeed with the GMAT, but getting into a great MBA program then you've found the right place!

1. Great class. The professor connected well with all the students. The professor made sure that the students were able to get the most out of each class. More importantly, the professor really cared about the students. The professor was willing to do whatever it took to make sure all the students did well on the GMAT. I strongly recommend this class.

I have taken other courses before, but Sherpa was the best by far. Information is broken into tangible, understandable points, and learning is fun! I was easily able to take this course twice, and the second time was an even better experience. They have the best quality for the best value in the DMV for sure.

I just finished a 12 class Sherpa Prep GMAT course. Sherpa Prep has helped me increase my score on official GMAT practice tests by 90 points in that short time. I know if I continue to apply their methods, I'll improve even more.

I signed up for the GMAT class because as a working mother, I do not have time to figure out how to crush the GMAT on my own. After taking the class, I'd recommend that NO ONE do try to do this alone. There are many simple but obscure methods that Sherpa has discovered and curated that would have taken me a lifetime to discover (if at all). The Sherpa course has exceeded my expectations for both the verbal and quant GMAT portions. Beyond the GMAT, I have learned that not only is math accessible to me, but that I could actually use and apply concepts that I never imagined were within my intellectual grasp. I am so lucky I found this course!

TL;DR: I went from 151 to 163 on Quant after 4 months of work with this team.

Longer version: If you want quality, personalized service: go with Sherpa. Manhattan and Kaplan have lots of good content and tools, but they are churning people out. If you’re already crushing the tests and just need a little more content knowledge, you’re probably fine with other companies but if you want a team to help you obtain great growth over time, the choice is easy. Small class sizes, plenty of chances for one on one or very small group work and a phenomenal tutoring rate of $40/hour for current students. I taught professionally for 3 years, so I know strong teaching when I see it. These are top quality instructors.

The Sherpa Prep GMAT program is comprehensive, professionally managed, and approachable.

I was looking for a highly structured study program with enough 1 on 1 attention to work on my individual challenges. Sherpa Prep helped me raise my GMAT score into the 700s and I was accepted to my target school, Darden.

Nafeez provided an exceptional GMAT study program. Each class was packed with valuable material taught at a rapid, but manageable pace. The take-home work reinforced the lessons learned in class and provided hours of practice questions.

Sherpa Prep has built proprietary study materials that support the lessons taught in class and reviewed in the Official GMAT guide books.

Sherpa Prep is also a highly personal program. The courses are taught to small groups with a lot of interaction. Nafeez helped me craft my "MBA story" for interviews and application essays. This 1 on 1 attention was highly valuable. Nafeez has years of experience and many relationships in the MBA industry. He helped provide context for the admissions process, interviewing, networking, and essay writing.

Sherpa Prep gives a comprehensive preparation for the GRE. Between classes, books, and practice problems, the course gives you all the information you need to prepare for the test.

The book comes with online video explanations to each of the hundreds of practice problems, a very useful tool.

I signed up for the Sherpa's ~9 week course over the summer and feel like my knowledge of the test and the ways to approach it have improved exponentially. Classes may be three and a half hours long, but those three and a half hours went by faster than expected and always felt like constant learning from start to finish. Content knowledge is relatively easy to pick up from self-studying, but what separates Sherpa's curriculum from self-studying is the wealth of strategies that are only created from years and years of experience, and aren't strategies that I could have seen myself learning any other way.

While the course was great and all, it's really just the first step to obtaining the score you want on the GMAT. Content courses are more or less standard fare with many GMAT prep services, but what happens after the class is over? Finishing the advertised "course" is only the first step in a longer process to ultimately conquering the test, and even in these intermediate steps, Sherpa is available to guide you through free office hours, check-ins, and advanced courses. Nafeez, the president of Sherpa Prep, is an incredibly inspiring and gifted teacher, and is genuine in his passion for helping students achieve their potential. That's the ultimate goal of Sherpa Prep; not to drop the knowledge on you and be done with it, but to drop the knowledge, help you apply it, take it with you to your first test, help you recover from the unfortunate fallouts of the first test (if it happens!), and walk with you all the way to the finish line.

What you have to realize when deciding whether to spend the money on Sherpa Prep is that you are not just paying for a course. You are paying for Sherpa's guidance and expertise through the entire GMAT experience. Certainly classes and learning material will be one component of the experience, but the support offerings continue outside the classroom and even after the course ends. There is an incalculable worth to be supported through every road bump - and success - along the way.
