Very helpful and responsive during the…

Very helpful and responsive during the booking process/helping with type of blinds to get. Adrian the installer was super helpful, a delight to interact with and did a fantastic job installing the blinds. 2nd time getting blinds from them and both times were great. Would recommend without hesitation.

Expert Advice and Flawless Installation

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Shading Specialists for providing and installing our beautiful blinds so efficiently. From advising us on the right product to completing the installation with such speed and professionalism, the entire experience was outstanding.

Adrian Greenland and Graham Goode from the installation team were absolutely fantastic -punctual, courteous, and clearly experts in their craft.

My husband and I are big fans of Shading Specialists and highly recommend them. We wish the team continued success.

All the team at Shading Specialists…

All the team at Shading Specialists were fantastic! I called with very little time before my move in and they turned everything around immediately, not only that - they were very price competitive and efficient and clean.

Incredibly helpful

Incredibly helpful - I purchased blinds from Shading Specialists over 6 years ago. Recently one of the attachments that holds the roller blind cord together broke. I emailed explaining the issue and they posted me some replacement attachments free of charge and very quickly. And I'm very happy with the blinds themselves.

25 Year Old Markilux Awning repaired and now fully working again

I have a 25 year old Markilux awning which started to misbehave by not shutting or extending correctly. Shading Specialists quickly diagnosed the fault, ordered the part, came and installed the new motor and now it works like new. I was pleased with the efficient, quick and knowledgeable service they provided. I was also impressed that they did not try to pressurise me into buying a new awning by telling me the existing one was too old. Full marks to Shading Specialists and Markilux for still having parts !

This is a very professional company

This is a very professional company. Their roller blinds and curtains are of excellent quality. The small teething problems we had after fitting were quickly resolved at no cost. Highly recommended.

Excellent and professional service. Highly recommended!

We recently purchased Silent Gliss roller blinds, which were installed by Shading Specialists. We are extremely happy and impressed with their professionalism and customer service. The entire process was smooth from start to finish. They consistently met deadlines, kept us informed throughout, demonstrated thorough knowledge of the product, and the installer was meticulous, highly professional, and worked with utmost cleanliness. It was a 5-star service experience. We are very pleased, thank you!

Very impressive service!

We are a high end build and design company and now only use Shading Systems for all of our blinds, awning and soft furnishing. They really are the whole package, professional, customer friendly and excellent quality. The service they provide from start to finish is impressive!

Terrible company to deal with

Terrible company to deal with - especially the owner - shocking bad to deal with.
The fitter was lovely though!
The Owner was that bad, that after paying a deposit and having to deal with him personally, we simply wanted to cancel and walk away.

This was due to the fact that when the order was placed over the phone, it was discussed and agreed with the sales person that their quote included fabric, which made their quote comparable to others we had received. However, they later informed us that their quote did not include fabric which made their cost c.£10k more than other comparable quotes.

At that point, nothing had made, we wanted to cancel, but he refused. We even offered to pay for their time on the project, but The Owner refused, saying that they would loose out on profit if they allowed us to cancel. This was obviously really disappointing because we felt they were over charging and being needlessly difficult.

We reluctantly went ahead, and after a very unpleasant continuation of the relationship, the blinds & curtains were fitted.

They did not provide electrical connections for the blinds. When we asked for them, they quoted £76.98 each + vat - you can buy them for less than £5 each! We queried the cost and got no reply... they were just trying to rip us off. When this was raised, we got sadly got no response.

Some of the curtains didn't fit correctly, they dragged along the ground, but the voiles were fine - which were apparently made to the same length. This seems very odd, because if the voiles and curtains are the same length, how can one drag along the floor and yet the other is perfectly fine??? They advised the floor must be uneven.... This clearly does not make sense and was viewed as another attempt to be difficult and unhelpful. The most obvious explanation if they are both the same is that one of the items is clearly cut different to the other - a point they refused to acknowledge or investigate.

When we queried and asked them to rectify, we were told to sort it out locally, at our own expense. Other curtains didn't hang correctly also.

We then informed them that if that was there final response, we would have to take action to recover our funds. To which we were told that we were "nasty" and they would not deal with us any further. Despite their reply, at all times throughout we were curtious and had a great relationship with the team, except The Owner who was difficult throughout, most of which was conducted via email so can be evidenced, and as can be seen below.

My comment after being told to sort them out locally. "Hi xxxxx,
I disagree. It is also possible that the curtains are made wrong. As such, I would expect this to be something that you are liable to rectify, and at best, tolerances to account for the drop should be accounted for your in operations.
If this is your final decision, then I am not getting into any further conversations with you and we will consider all actions to recover our funds from you."

Owners response... "The Curtains were installed in June successfully, we have photo and video evidence of all curtains operating and in the stacked position, of which they do not rest on the floor and the returns on the curtains hang perfectly towards the wall where applicable. I have provided an explanation of what may cause curtain fabric to expand in home environments and a recommendation you alter the curtains locally if 4 months down the line, you aren’t happy they are now touching the floor.

This conversation is over and I will not engage with you further after your email, neither will the fitter."

Having spent over £40k with them, you would expect some courtesy and a little after service.

All companies have problems and issues. Great companies deal with problems and issues well.... Bad ones deal with them like this.

Really disappointed in the overall experience, and would clearly not recommend them for our next development project.

This is a totally false, defamatory and unfair review. Shading Specialists provided an incredible service to The Client and his wife which is all documented. The Client requested trade discount from the outset for his “clients project” and as he was emailing from a property developer, we obliged providing him with significant trade discounts. It became clear with references such as “Bills Office this was not for a third party customer and subsequently, it turned out that the project was for his own personal home with his wife. We continued to afford this level of discount to his project.

The Client was unhappy as he wanted us to include Curtain Fabrics and Curtain Making within his original quotation which clearly stated it was just for Curtain Tracks/Blinds/Hardware. The Client wanted a refund after we were instructed because he had not read the quotation or the substantial amount of information provided to him which was entirely rejected by Shading Specialists as we had been already begun working on this bespoke project.

Finally, The Client calmed down after a series of rude and aggressive phone calls he made to our offices. We proceeded to final measure with his agreement and ordered the products. We went through the entire project like a fine tooth comb resulting in a trouble free installation where every project fitted and all sizing/specification was entirely correct.

The Client’s project was installed successfully during a weekend at our cost to assist him, beginning on Saturday 24th June 2023 and ending on Tuesday 27th June 2023 with each area photographed and videoed operating as it should.

On 3rd October 2023, over 3 months post installation, The Client sent a series of emails confirming his Master Bedroom Curtains were the wrong drop. This is incorrect and we sent Evidence of this.
1. When we attended to final measure, The Client did not have his flooring down. He agreed in writing for the following deduction “All floor build ups confirmed as 23mm in all areas where there are curtains. We will therefore deduct 23mm from all drop sizes, plus 15mm clearance to gain our finished curtain drop. “
2. Please see attached to this response some screen shots of the video The Client presented. You will note, as the curtain closes to the centre, the flooring height seems to change meaning they begin to brush the floor. You will note that the curtain drop is perfectly correct until the centre close element of travel.
The Client feels it is our fault that his flooring is out of level and that we should know this when we measured despite his flooring not being in place at this time and despite us not being able to control how he screeds or applies his flooring. We know it is clear to see that this is through no fault of our own. The Client wants us to do a curtain alteration free of charge (From Watford to Warrington) which we have said we are unable to do for the clear reasons stated. We advised him he may be better getting this done locally and The Client because extremely rude and threatening all sorts of implications if we do not comply with him demands.

The Client hopes that by trying to make untrue statements he will cause harm to our company, to our operatives and to prospective customers looking to order via our company. The evidence provided will show our customers that this gentleman’s accusations are false. Action will be taken following these defamatory statements.

Shading Specialists Limited always treats its customers fairly and will always support through any site issue, hence our presence in the industry since 1955 and our kind reviews from our customers over the years.

Shading Specialists - Excellent blind suppliers

I used Shading Specialists to fit blinds in a rental unit and found them to be really professional and attentive. They provided excellent customer service and the process was seamless from beginning to end. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality finish in their home.
