Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 47 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the pricing, often finding that the vouchers or discounted tickets ended up being more expensive than purchasing directly from the cinema, especially after additional fees and charges were applied. Customers also reported issues with the service, including problems with receiving codes, unhelpful support, and a general feeling that the service was pointless or even misleading. The website was also a source of frustration, with users encountering error messages and unclear information regarding fees. Conversely, a small portion of people were satisfied with the booking process and discounts, noting that they were able to save money on cinema tickets and that the voucher codes arrived instantly and worked without issues for some specific cinema chains.

AVOID!! Increases cost!

AVOID!!! Using the voucher increases the ticket price:

ServiceSeats voucher + Odeon fee = £15.35

Ticket direct from Odeon (No voucher) = £12.50

The above is the exact same seat. You can't see the Odeon fee before purchasing the voucher.

Terms and conditions mention a "Small upgrade fee for IMAX screening", if it was £4 or less, the voucher would save you money. £7 extra, it definitely does not.

Appalling service

Appalling service. Bought three tickets from service seats which cost over £21 but then when I tried to redeem the codes it said they had already been used. I ended up buying the tickets at normal price as it was my daughters birthday treat. Absolutely gutted as can't afford to lose £21. Tried to contact for a refund but no reply. Avoid.

Very unhappy with this company

Very unhappy with this company, i didn't get the Codes to use against cinema tickets ended up having to pay full price then also got charged for the vouchers which they will not refund, apparently can use in the future, would rather of had a refund as it was not my fault that codes didnt arrive on time. Also cannot talk to anyone, they hide behind their contact us

An absolute scam. Reviews don't lie.

A scam of a company all linked to blue light but no one knows how or why. Expect it's some kind of tax benefits for the higher ups. My account was randomly shut down without notice because the business has moved to focus on blue light app users. What does that even mean.

Avoid at all costs.

Good Discount for Movie Lovers on Budget

I bought 2 vouchers (ODEON LUXE Adult Anytime) from the Service Seats website via the Bluelight card app. After redeeming the vouchers at the Odeon cinema website, I managed to save £7. My advice is to always double-check with Odeon customer service on Twitter before buying any vouchers. They are able to run a test booking for you. Then, you will know how much you must pay at the end. In addition, do not add standard tickets to your basket after adding the vouchers. Otherwise, they won't work. Good luck and have a film-tastic day !

Happy longtime user

Have used Service Seats for over a decade and it's well worth for saving money on cinema tickets, as long as you take the time to read which ticket you are purchasing (off peak vs weekend).

The platform could do with some updating and better clarification but overall excellent.

Cineworld Tix

I ordered two tickets through the service seats portal for cineworld, which were almost half price (typical cost for 2 seats £20, I paid 10). If I redeemed them online they would have cost me an additional £1 each for online booking fee so we opted to redeem them in person at the cinema. This went without a hitch.
I would have purchased drinks and snacks too but we were too full after dinner, although it is good to know we could have bought discounted snacks through the portal too. The ticket orders are processed very quickly so I have no reason to believe the snack voucher wouldn't be processed as fast.

Do not bother!!!!!

Do not bother! The fact that I was directed here via Blue Light makes it even worse. Just buy direct! You end up paying another £6 after redeeming vouchers. They cleverly don’t mention fees on their website, just say ‘could be cheaper direct’.

Disgusting exploitation of disabled war vertrans

Vouchers purchased and ended up being more expensive than a regular ticket would have been if I'd have just gone direct to the cinema as a regular customer. This is not how you treat war vertrans, it's disgusting to be extorting us this way. 5 days for a reply on a complaint is unacceptable, how does that help a disabled war veteran with not much money to their name?? You guys deserve to be shut down and prosecuted.

I bought 3 adult vouchers and when I went to use them for the first time at the Cineworld till, they came up on their system as already having been redeemed. I paid for full price tickets (more than £50) with the hope for reasonable compensation from Service Seats, but no. No compensation was offered for the vouchers or the full-price tickets. The only explanation offered was the "vouchers were already redeemed". Not by me though.

Not a con

Used my blue light card to purchase 2 adult tickets to cineworld. Normally £14.95 per ticket. This site meant I purchased two for £4.80 each.
I was worried when I read the reviews. But the codes worked just fine on cineworld website. No complaints. Saved me over £20

Used the blue light discount

Used the blue light discount. And it's not a discount at all, false advertising scamming site. They make it look like it's half price tickets, but it ends up being more than the cost of the ticket itself. Shameful.

A complete Con

I purchased 2 adult tickets through service seats for Cineworld costing £7.99 each, I followed the redeeming process and it added on the booking fee which was £1 per ticket instead of making the tickets the £7.98 each that i paid! If I book the film I want to watch it will still cost me the full price of £13.99 for an adult ticket plus the £7.99 for the cost of the service seats vouchers, in total £46 for 2 cinema tickets!! I won't be booking to watch the film now as I've already lost £17.98 through service seats, not happy at all.

A con

A con. The discount code for the seats I had already paid for actually added £1 to the booking for each code used (this wasn’t the booking fee which was actually another 90 p on top of that). I’d already paid about £8 per seat through service seats, so seats that were £14.99 (top price at my band 2 Cineworld) would end up costing me £14.99 + £8 service seats voucher cost + £1 added on by each code + 90p booking fee.

Service Seats are just a legalised ticket tout. Absolutely shocking the the price of addons which, all work out to be dearer than on the official cinema site.
How are these people allowed to get away with it 😡

Service Seats is now a con and you end up paying more than the normal ticket price!

I used to use Service Seats to get discounts on cinema tickets but it is now no longer worth it. Often the normal cinema price is cheaper than the Service Seats price or you need to be careful which tickets you are purchasing due to all the 'upgrade' seats.

For peak times, Odeon now has Standard seats (£8.50), Standard+ seats (£10.50) and Premier seats (£11.50). I accidentally chose the Standard+ seats thinking they were the standard normal seats so was charged extra on top of the Service Seats price (£8.35) to account for the 'upgrade', making it more expensive than the normal price as I paid £11.35 in the end!

Unexpected Extra Charges — Be Warned About Premium Screen Surcharges

I purchased Showcase cinema vouchers through Service Seats (via Blue Light Card) for a family film night — 4 adults and 2 children. I paid £49.44 for what I understood to be full admission vouchers.

However, when redeeming the vouchers for a standard 2D XPlus screening, I was unexpectedly charged an additional £35.70 at checkout — around £6 per person — with no clear upfront warning. The surcharge apparently applies because Showcase classifies XPlus as a “premium format,” but this was not made clear at the point of purchase.

I wasn’t trying to play the system — I just didn’t expect to pay more after already buying tickets. Had I known, I might have booked differently.

Service Seats responded by pointing to fine print buried in the “How to Use” section, but that isn’t visible in the actual purchase flow or ticket selection. This really needs to be flagged more clearly.

I’m sharing this so others aren’t caught off guard. The discount scheme is a great idea — but please make premium format surcharges obvious before people buy
