I went to an SCS store on 22/1/18 to…

I went to an SCS store on 22/1/18 to order a sofa and footstool. Most unlike me but I was talked into buying a chair instead of the footstool. The salesman kept saying that for an extra £70 I should have the chair. "If it was me I know what I would buy, for only £70 extra it doesn't make sense to buy the footstool and not the chair" I don't know if it was to shut him up but I agreed. When I got home I thought, no actually I don't want a chair so I rang the store and changed the order to the footstool.
I got a message to say my furniture was ready for delivery and arranged a day off work on March 8th. I got a message shortly before the date to say they would not be delivering because the manufacturer had "pulled the load". I arranged to have a day off work again the following week 14th March and they turned up with the furniture. When they tried to get it in my living room, they said it was not going to go through the living room door. They took the furniture away and told me to contact the store. By this time I am getting extremely frustrated. I contacted the store and they gave me 3 options. 1) They could take a window out for £80. 2) They would get an upholsterer to dismantle the sofa and rebuild it in my living room for £120 3) I could choose a different sofa for £160. The window was not an option so I decided the cheapest option, although I was not happy to have to pay extra, was to have the upholsterer. They arranged for him to contact me which he did. After arranging a day asap for him to bring the sofa, I checked that it was going to cost me £120. No he said, it is £180 and he didn't know where the store had got £120 from. By this time I am completely fed up with the whole situation. I rang the store and told them what the upholsterer had said and said I wanted to cancel the whole order as I felt they had messed me about from the time I ordered the furniture. Meanwhile I had sold my previous furniture as I was expecting my new sofa at the beginning of March. They said I could not cancel as I had signed a contract. I argued that they were not able to deliver the goods and that was not my fault. They said I should have measured the height of the doors even though there was never any mention of that, my doors are standard doors.
I went back to the store to order a different sofa, the staff apart from Faye, who was very helpful and sympathetic, were so unhelpful and unapproachable. I got a text on 23/4 asking me to ring and arrange a delivery date. I rang and they offered 3 days, all of which I was working. I managed to get my grandson to wait at my home to take delivery but he only finishes work at 2pm. When I rang back to tell them, they refused to book a day, saying that they could not give me a morning or afternoon slot.I have had to cancel a weekend away in order to take a day off work on Thurs 3rd May to get this delivery.
I have to say my whole experience of buying furniture from SCS has been very unpleasant and I could not in all honesty recommend them to anyone. I am a pensioner with multiple medical conditions and have for several weeks now had to virtually live in my bedroom as I have had nothing to sit on. I find this service having to wait 14 weeks totally unacceptable.

Appalling service!

I bought a carpet and sofa from SCS Lakeside. I WILL NEVER USE SCS AGAIN AND RECOMMEND NO-ONE ELSE DOES! The manager Jay is rude, should you ever be able to speak to him as he never calls you back. I wrote to head office, who just emailed the letter to Jay, and did nothing. Absolutely appalling service. Do not deliver when they say they will and when you ring up no-one cares! After 2 1/5 weeks or arguing I finally got £150 compensation, but instead of reducing the finance I will get a couple of months free at the end, so I have to wait 4 years to get it. I REALLY EXPECT MORE FROM A BIG COMPANY. NO COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE, YOU JUST KEEP GETTING PASSED BACK TO THE STORE. I emailed head office twice, no response at all. SCS ARE A JOKE, I SHOULD HAVE GONE TO DFS!

Absolutely distraught.

Absolutely distraught.
2nd review on how disgusting scs Gloucester branch and customer service are!
It’s like a night mare never ending!! All I want now is it to be over and it just keeps coming with more bad news.
We got carpets partly fitted by scs a month ago now and this is just like an never ending nightmare. We planned to have the carpets on a date me and my partner had booked as holiday. From the start to finish has been just the worst. I wish I could go back In time and go somewhere else or even pay a bit more to have something done properly.

Firstly don’t get fooled by “free” fitting its added on top of the cost of the carpets you are paying for. As we find that out a couple days before it was fitted. We went in store The gent In store told us we come back to collect the fitting money for us to give the fitter on the day which is not true. So pointless trip driving there in the beginning as we now find out.

Secondly on the day of carpet fitting we had to ring scs to find where the carpet fitters were. You will find ringing them is a regular occurrence because nobody rings you back!!!! They turn up late and they start the carpet fitting only to find first room carpet was cut too short. Then as you go through the house stairs is not an acceptable job and our lounge is got a massive line in it that apparently will come out if not in 2months they will refit it. But guess what it’s already been a month and it’s still there!

The doors in our home needed trimming so the carpet fitter said would you like me to do it for you. So we thought for the inconvenience of what happend so far turning up late And shortage of carpet in main bedroom was doing it as a favour baring in mind the measure up man that did measured the carpets did not tell us that we have have to pay for the doors to be done if they did need it. We would of got someone else to do it. He charged us an extra £90 on top of the fitting and it’s a shame my doors don’t close they are an absolute reck now. We saved up months to get new doors in our first home.

The day they left we rang scs Gloucester and complained this led us no were so i got given a number by Gloucester branch to ring which is customer care number in Sunderland. So we had to relay what happened and a surveyor came out to look at the problems and what would happen next. So the man was the same man that measured our carpets and had to report back to customer care. Because the stairs and lounge weren’t massive problems we can’t have that relayed and unwilling to fix the problems only carpet we are basically aloud to have redone is our bedroom. We are the ones paying and living with it. we have to fight for our £90 back for the doors and scs aren’t helpling us to get it back we have to now fight getting it back off the carpet fitter. The surveyor said to us they could of taken more care with the cuttings and fitting. Also my paint work that took me so long to do is ruined everywhere not In a few place which you would expect. The fitter has got the photos of the doors we sent to the store manager of Gloucester. But he really couldn’t give two hoots either because I’ve spoken to him twice and sent him emails of pictures no reply from him. he feels quite patronising when he talks to me as if that he knows everything and I don’t. Especially the last phone call I had with him actually made me upset. It is any way to get out of what he can’t be bothered to sort out. To me in words from him as it would sound were taking your money your getting your carpet fitted in your bedroom the date is booked and you can fight for you own money back for the doors. What kind of manager is that! Why does nobody help!

As this is all going on the last couple of weeks it’s took me to sort this out. It’s been so long I have rang and rang and rang scs in Sunderland now everyday and I now have a phone bill ranked up to £48 on top of my own bill because I’m trying to sort it out a problem scs made and this is where they never ring me back. So now me sorting out a problem I’m paying for it again! And SCS GLOUCESTER gave me the number you have to pay 55p a minute instead of the one you don’t pay for.

When I spoke to customer service the carpet fitter got sent what the problems where by them and he was meant to ring me a few times never did. He blames someone else but him self that the carpet was cut too short but he cut the carpet in the warehouse. I also was saying to him I read some reviews on how badly laid carpet is and he’s and his worker had done the same thing. I finally got a date in May for him to come out but only by ringing the Gloucester branch to sort it. But there again the lady on the desk was meant to ring me and never did so I was so fed up by then Im just drained with it my partner rang to ask where was the phone call all day? She then phoned me straight after, Not good enough. When he comes to do our bedroom it will be nearly 2 months. So what makes me laugh why don’t you just refit the all the carpet again and this won’t have to carry on.

Everyone had been telling us different stories when we speak to them. It’s that crazy it’s just a problem that can be fixed in half a day. It’s honestly caused me so much stress I feel sick with it because nothing getting Solved. Specially seeing my phone bill as now another added cost. Frustration and angry with it all is an understatement.

I got a message form a lady on here to say about sending information to the chief executive office. No reply it’s bloody more waste of time.

I read reviews about flooring and it’s just so similar problems that keep occurring. Scs know what to say to get out of it and save there back. I’ve literally done everything I can possibly do.

PLEASE JUST DO NOT EVER HAVE YOUR FLOORING DONE BY SCS!

Unfinished carpet fitting!!

From sale through to fitting of the laminate flooring everything was going smoothly. However they didn't have everything needed to finish the fitting and several weeks later we are still waiting for someone to come out and finish the fitting. We've contacted SCS ourselves because nobody has been out but we've still heard absolutely nothing. Sadly I'd have recommended SCS until this point and I most likely would have given a 4/5* review. Angry and frustrated are an understatement.

***UPDATE***

We decided to go into the store from which we purchased the flooring because nothing had happened nearly 2 months after it was partially fitted. A shop floor staff member took all the details and explained the fitter would be in touch to resolve it without fail. Well a further three weeks have passed and we've still heard nothing. It is beyond astonishing just how bad the service is. I've downgraded SCS from two stars to one star. If I could select less I would.

Horrendous service received

Horrendous service received from the Chesterfield store. Experienced members of staff lied to us when selling us a sofa. We told them we weren't ready for delivery as we were buying a new house and they insisted we could delay delivery upto 6months. 2 weeks later they call and say we must receive delivery as they have no storage. The store manager refused to help us although he acknowledged his staff lied. Phoned head office and they delayed delivery.
Before the delivery i called the store in advance and asked them to call me 1 hour in advance which they insisted is normal practice anyway. On the day they called and said were arriving in 5 minutes. On arrival the delivery drivers were rude and refused to come into the property. They suggested they push the sofa in whilst i pull!!! This is a huge corner sofa. They then suggested i screw the sofa feet on myself...which is something they are meant to do. Absolutely hideous service from the store and delivery drivers. Will never ever order from them again.

SCS Cribbs Causeway - Useless.

SCS Cribbs Causeway, Bristol, are the most unprofessional set of salespeople. We completed an order of over £2000 with carpets and sofas and have had a terrible experience since the money was taken. Initially, Keith dealt with us but he was incapable of booking two delivery days but told us there were. This gentleman is a manager but he lied all the way through meaning days were taken off work for no reason. We received no notification and if we hadn’t called the store, nobody would have let us know the delivery wasn’t being completed. We rescheduled with the store manager, Lee, for the following weekend and were promised two delivery days. The fitter shows up having been told it was all in one day. So more time needed to be taken off the following Monday - yet again the fitter didn’t show. Tracy was the manager on duty and completely denied any fault from SCS. Numerous call backs were promised but there were no notes made on the system. We were then promised a refund but they didn’t have the card or any details of it on the system - somehow every detail had vanished. If it weren’t for Dave I fear everything would have got even worse. The only competent member of staff we dealt with. DON’T GO TO THIS STORE - unless you want to be robbed.

Shop somewhere else

After the poor customer service and unprofessional attitude of the manager at Bolton my carpet arrived on time and was fitted to a good standard so I gave them another chance. What a mistake, the fitters turned up put the underlay down with no issue. Then I saw the beige carpet they had brought and I informed them it should have been Grey. The fitters phoned the store and the wrong carpet had been ordered. I was told the manager would phone me the next day and speak to me. That was 3 days ago and nobody has contacted me at all. I paid for the carpet in full. This is the very last time I shop at SCS and I would advise customers to look elsewhere before shopping with them

I would never buy anything from SCS…worst customer service EVER

I would never buy anything from SCS again. I ordered my sofa in September 2017. Was given date of march 1st. Due to snow it wasn't delivered. No-one contacted me so I contacted the Norwich store and was told I would be contacted in the next 2 days with a delivery date and was not. After countless calls by me over the following weeks I was finally told on 29th march I couldn't have it untill April 14th. Told them this wasn't good enough as we've had no sofa since March 1st and was told I could have refund and hung up on me because I wasn't happy with this. Worst of all they had the exact sofa on display in store... it's a shame they can't deliver it when you've already paid for it. Worst customer service ever.

NEVER SHOP WITH SCS

Please do yourself a favour and go to another supplier and company, for the likes of a Sofa.
The company has caused more damage, than just our sofa being broken. Their insurance people, are not helpful, nor willing to help anyone with regards to insurance issues.

At the beginning of our issue, we was polite and patient, we took time out and had people wait in - for the sofa to be fixed - but it never was.
We have not been treated with respect and have been sold a poor designed sofa/ and do not bother with the insurance it is not, worth the piece of paper it is wrote on,

But a couple of sofa's which were delivered in Mid-2017. From the outset we experienced problems. Had 4 repairs, got passed from pillow to post between the store and customer service team; no-one will take responsibility. Many promises to call back...no-one ever did. Really wish i hadn't paid cash. There are many decent retailers out there...this firm isn't one of them. It's unfortunate that we are having to go to court to gain satisfaction.

Unbelievably poor service

Unbelievably poor service, more or less throughout. I read the reviews beforehand and ignored them, don't make the same mistake!

Will try and keep this as short as possible because I could go on forever:

The sales pitch makes out that fitting is free, it's not. The way it's done is you agree a price, which sounds like that is everything. Actually that is the price, with a discount of (in our case) £190 which you then have to pay in cash to the fitter upon them fitting the carpet. Wasn't clear at all so was a big surprise we were down another £200.

When the fitters came they were nice enough guys and did the job pretty quickly. Unfortunately they had been sent half the wrong carpet. So we were left with 3/4 of the carpet down and the rest not done. There was also an unbelievable amount of mess left behind all over the house, furniture all over the place (one of which took all 4 of us - 3 fitters and me) to move and they just left that for me to sort on my own.

When they arrived they asked, did you know you have to pay extra for the carpets to be pulled up. Well we were told this was included so after the fitter eventually getting through to our sales rep this was re-included...

I called that same day - a Monday (as did the fitter as I was with him when he did) the Croydon branch to ask when I was getting the rest of my fitting done. No one got back to me and after me calling to speak to the salesman (who I believe is the head of carpet sales there) no less than 5 times I eventually called and asked to speak to his manager that Thursday (3 days after the fitting).

I explained that this was completely unacceptable, my carpet wasn't completed, mess was everywhere and my furniture everywhere too. The carpet they had removed we agreed would be cut up and put in the bags the carpet came in, it wasn't it was just dumped outside the front of my house.

The manager of the store explained how sorry he was and that he would look into this for me. The sales manager miraculously now called me back and I explained I no longer would be dealing with him but with his manager, if he was not willing to deal with me prior to this.

Eventually the store manager, who promised he would call me at the end of the day, no ifs or buts, called me the next day... i asked why none of them could keep a promise and what was happening with my carpet. Apparently it was the warehouse's problem and had never happened before. Sure...

It was explained to me that houses were 'always left like this for the owner to clean up' and that was not an issue for him, but the missing carpet was.

It then took almost 2 weeks for them to come back and fit the remaining carpet. Amazingly, quite amazingly, it was the wrong carpet again.

I honestly thought (the same) fitters were joking when they came in and said that.

I called and eventually got through to the sales manager and explained that this was completely unacceptable. He said it was the fitters fault not theirs. I said I wanted some money off. He said I would have to speak to the fitters as it wasn't his fault and they were my fitters.

I explained that they may well have fit my carpet, but you might outsource work, not responsibility. I had had no choice in my fitters, I didn't pick them off a list, SCS sent them to my house! He laughter at that sentiment and continued to pile the blame at the fitters door.

They came back 3 days later and fit the correct carpet, leaving yet more mess and even had the cheek to ask if we were paying for this fitting too...!

Overall, shocking experience and would never, ever use again
