Great Experience

Was gifted the experience last Christmas. No problems booking the visit and was able to select the date and time I wanted.

Arrived just before the start time for the tour and made to feel very welcome by reception staff and the tour guide (Eric). The tour was very informative and the videographic presentations were excellent. Some of the commentary was a bit cringe'y but assume that this is a set script the guide has to follow.
The tasting experiences again were informative and very enjoyable! I would certainly visit again.

Give yourself a decent amount of time to get to the venue - The Royal Mile can get very busy and progress can be slow. Also, the venue is near the top of the Royal Mile so you are walking uphill all the way.

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. We were late by 25 mins due to traffic and also parking. It took 35 minutes just to get 1.5 miles to the parking spot from Princes Rd. Then another 15 mins to get to SWE. The tour was at 12pm.

I kindly asked if they offer the next available spot that day, and we'll come back. They refused - that's their booking person (didn't get her name, Michael Mckeen (Visual Experience Manager and also Alistair (Ops Mgr from SWE)

This was meant to be a treat my wife booked for me, a birthday treat, and also for my elderly dad, who is fond of Scotch whisky, as a bonding experience. They wouldn't accommodate a humble request. But happy to waste 30 minutes of my time, for me to plead with them. This is a waste of your time as it was the gold tour £75 for 2 of us. Instead, the managers (who could not manage a p**s up in a brewery between them) refused to accommodate or offer a refund. They instead dared to say pay for it now and we'll give you 10% off. When I've already paid £75, why would I do that? Only because I booked via GYG. Their response was tough, you missed it at GYG and may not pay us. Shows you how much of an experience this truly is.

He then lied and said we offered to rebook you to GYG; well, you didn't say that to me or my dad!

Michael Mckeen call me to get this mess sorted and get my refund arranged ASAP.

Stay clear and spend your hard-earned money on a true experience, not some money-grabbing fools that don't know what an experience is, as the name is meant to suggest!

A visit here is a must for the whiskey lover!

A visit here is a must! On arrival we were warmly greeted by our tour guide Freya who then took us on an informative and interesting tour. All tours include the opportunity to sample a whiskey of the guests choosing in the tasting room. We booked a gold tour. This included a further guided tasting of 4 generous measures of single malt specially selected to highlight the different characteristics of the Scottish whiskey regions. We ended our afternoon with a visit to the Amber bar. Once again receiving a warm welcome. The ambience was great. Again, bar staff were knowledgeable and only too happy to guide us towards whiskeys we would enjoy. Bar prices were excellent, especially for older/rarer malts. A special mention must go to Jim in the shop. Whilst all staff were welcoming and knowledgeable his enthusiasm for and knowledge of whiskey was fantastic.

Exceptional Whiskey Blending Stag event

Arranged a 90min Whiskey Blending Experience at the Scotch Whisky Experience through StagWeb and the event was outstanding.

Manager Michael took our group through the history of whiskey making, explained about the processes work, tested our knowledge, noises and palates.

We tried four different single malts and learn the difference between a malt, a whisky liqueur and a blended whisky. Then concluded in making our own Scotch whiskey blend in a 100ml bottle which you take away, with a certificate and glass.

Michael was hugely knowledgeable, massively informative, made a blend specially for our stag and made the whole experience fantastic, especially for our specific stag group.

I would highly recommend the experience and would happily go again in Edinburgh it was truly 5 star.

I visited it for the second time after…

I visited it for the second time. My first visit was years ago, but this time I went with two friends, and I found out that the small train with wagons in a barrel form, that was the main attraction, wasn't working there anymore. Without this little train, I considered very experience the ticket, although the staff do their best and are well knowledgeable and friendly.

Great tour, Thank you Lucy C!

Great tour, very informative and staff were especially helpful and lovely. Special shout out to Lucy C who helped with recommending some whiskey for myself and my dad at the bar after the tour, she was friendly, and very knowledgeable! I certainly recommend something from the Islay region also! :)
Please show her the review and let her know that she made the tour great! :)
