I would leave zero stars if I could. Over the last two days I’ve tried to call on four separate occasions and I’ve been left on hold for over 45 minutes. I’m trying to find out about my mother‘s death benefits and can you imagine the company not even answering your call when you’re literally at the lowest point of your life?? I will make sure every social media outlet that people know to stay away from this company.

Rate increased 50% from quote for a high blood pressure reading to which I am now regularly taking prescribed medication.
Also the sales agent misspelled my beneficiaries name quite badly so now it’s on me to print the docs fill them all out, sign, get a witness to sign and then resubmit. This is ridiculous given it was a mistake made by SBLI.

It’s hard to review a life insurance company because you really don’t know if it’s a good company or not until you die. However, I have been a long term customer and find the company incredibly easy to work with. It’s easy to create a new policy, make payments, and every correspondence has been necessary or useful. I highly recommend SBLI.

Signed up for term life 15 years ago, and all of that was fine / transparent.
Beware: at end of term SBLI will auto renew you, without your input (I didn't want to renew) and get very aggressive about collecting a new, much higher premium. This feels fraudulent to sign me up without any input and without my consent.

I am overall happy with the insurance policies I obtained with SBLI. I reported an issue with one of the policy rates presented, and SBLI quickly resolved the issue and the policy was then issued at the agreed upon rate. I am happy with how SBLI put the policy holder first.

I received a secure email that did not have my account number, which SBLI was stating to the owner that it had been changed. Too many layers exist at SBLI the person that answers the call should have the access and authority to see a policy and respond to questions. Waiting 10 days for a response is ridiculous and leaves room for errors.
