Zero Star Bank
My daughter transferred money from her account with a UK bank to her account with Santander. Both accounts are in her sole name. The transfer was done in the morning today around 9 am and reached her account with Santander in the early morning. However, Santander is holding the fund and upon our enquiry, they said they needed to review and it would take around 4 hour !! It is totally rubbish, both accounts are of the same name- why need to take 4 hours?! In other banks, it will be straight through. But even worse, until now, almost 23:30, the fund is still being held. We will be switching the account to other banks. Avoid Santander.
I went Sandwich MA asking some quarter
I went Sandwich MA asking some quarter. They said only take $20. One of the roll had 2 of five cents ! This bank is so joke and sneaky. No way to make mistakes between 25c and five. Scary bank. Just so sneaky and sketchy
Poor customer service
Poor customer service. I’ve had a genuine issue with my bank, and the call handlers were just rude and ignorant towards my concerns. And when pushed on these and ask for further options, they shut you out in an abrupt way and give no actual solutions. Very unhelpful and unfriendly staff.
Closing branches but €12 billion profit
Closing branches so limited access to ATMs to deposit money out of banking hours.
After 30 years with Abbey National which then became Santander I have made the choice to move to Nationwide.
When you think about the staff they have made redundant, and how they clearly don’t care for the elderly by closing branches making it difficult for them, then it’s not a friendly bank.
Let’s not forget they made over £12 billion profit in 2024
Disgusting absolutely disgusting.
I am genuinely astonished that this…
I am genuinely astonished that this bank continues to operate.
The customer service experience is consistently unacceptable. Calls are routed to overseas call centers where representatives appear poorly trained, struggle with basic English communication, and demonstrate little understanding of the products or issues they are supposed to support. Rather than resolving problems, interactions often escalate frustration and make matters worse.
Unfortunately, the issues extend beyond the call centers. Branch experiences are no better. Staff routinely appear disengaged, unhappy, and unmotivated, and that attitude is frequently projected onto customers. There is a noticeable lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer care.
Banking requires trust, competence, and reliability. This institution delivers none of the above.
Based on repeated firsthand experiences, I would strongly advise anyone to avoid using this bank. Choosing them will likely lead to unnecessary stress, wasted time, and regret.
Abysmal Customer Service
My elderly father-in-law drove over 20 miles to visit this branch to collect his bank statements. There were no other customers in the branch at the time, yet he was told it would “take 20 minutes” and that they didn’t have time to help him.
He is a patient, polite person who was more than willing to wait, and he has been a loyal Santander customer for decades. The lack of consideration shown to an elderly customer was disappointing and upsetting.
Given this experience, moving banks now seems the only sensible next step.
The ATMs never work
Every time I use an ATM at Santander I have problems.
Trying to pay anything in is a nightmare and I'm usually forced to stand in a queue behind someone who takes 20 minutes to describe a 5 minute problem.
Loyalty counts for nothing
Having been with Abbey National and subsequently Santander for over 35 years, they decided in their infinite wisdom to cut my overdraft from £3,500 to zero over the course of a year, even though I was in credit for over 9 months. Yes I was overdrawn for over a year, but never defaulted and they made a pretty penny out of me with their 39% interest!
Loyalty counts for nothing it seems, I have now moved my current account to Nationwide, better interest, far superior app, and a switch bonus to boot.
Bye bye Santan derrrr!
I had an auto loan with Santander USA…
I had an auto loan with Santander USA due to the interest rate and daily interest we decided to refinance with our bank we started this process in October my bank's at the check Santander said that the check account number was no good told me that they would send the check back within 3 to 5 business days my bank never received the check finally I was told it another point that they discard the checks if they're no good. I got so many different stories with these people I will never recommend that for anything and I just got my account settled with them mind you we started this in October and it's now December. They are horrible awful you can't hardly understand anybody and then they want to say that oh they understand where you're coming from when you're frustrated or what not but they do not because they're the ones that just get to sit there and say the things they're trying to say and try to make the customer happy. Again I would never use them worst company in the world
INCOMPETENCE I recently obtained an auto loan…
I recently obtained an auto loan through Santander. Huge mistake. Logging onto their web site to make a payment has been a nightmare - I have literally spent hours on the phone with customer service to straighten it out - to no avail. COMPLETE AND TOTAL INCOMPETENCE
Piss poor customer service
I received a call on November 24, 2025, saying that someone tried to use my debit card. With their help I was able to cancel the card. I was told that a new card would be sent in 5 to 7 business days. It arrived on December 8, 2025. That was not 5 to 7 business days. I called on December 4, 2025, and I was on hold for over an hour! I told them the card that was ordered on the 24th, never arrived. I was told they would send a new card which would arrive in 1 to 2 business days today December 8th, was the 2nd business day. Again, I didn't receive the card. I called today December 8th, and a supervisor told me they would charge me $30 to ship a new card which MIGHT arrive in 1 to 2 business days. I've been bank with Santander since 2013 and I have never had as many issues as I have had this year. Jose Torres, a supervisor, said he would send me a new card without the fee and that it MIGHT arrive in 1 to business days. I asked if he could overnight it since on December 11th, I will no longer be living at the address on record. Once again he said it MIGHT arrive by Wednesday the 12th. It goes without saying that I'm VERY doubtful that I'll receive my new card by the 10th,
worst bank ever
this bank sucks and their customer service is awful.
Bad experience
Had money in my bank and they done a closure which stopped me from using any of my money. Used the chat and rang twice for them to tell me they was going to send it by check 3 weeks later and cannot transfer it to another one of my accounts. Feel robbed!
Was on hold for absolutely ages to be told just a couple of words back and forth
No thought for dependants or bills
In terror!!
In terror!!
I have had an account with this 'thing' for years in Cambridge. I have manic depressive psychosis. I am in Tangier and they are preventing me from legally withdrawing money from my account in Cambridge and transfering it onto my wise card. Consequently I have £17 pounds to my name but several hundred in the account in Cambridge. I am in a nightmare. I tried transferring just £1... Result: PAYMENT DECLINED! I am going to have to try and check myself into a psychiatric hospital here in Tangier as I face imminent homelessness on the streets of Tangier which at night could be dangerous to me. I have gone into mania and it is frightening because they hinder me at every step!
I had an auto loan with this company…
I had an auto loan with this company because that's what Tesla offered. Huge mistake. Everything they do makes it difficult for the customer to do business with them. Everything is insanely slow and there's low limits for paying off the loan. The title will take nearly two months to get to me. Stay far away from this company.
I am writing to formally express my…the worst bank ever
I am writing to formally express my concern and distress regarding the handling of my case and the treatment I have received. I am vulnerable due to my illness, and I feel that my health and personal circumstances have not been adequately considered.
I have been waiting for six months for my Top Card, and during this time, I have been informed that I must leave the UK for my health. This situation is causing me considerable anxiety and hardship, especially given my medical condition and vulnerability.
I respectfully request urgent attention to my case, including a review of my records and the delays in processing my application. I ask that my health and personal circumstances be taken into account to ensure that I am not placed at further risk
TERRORI have a brain tumour!
I have a brain tumour, poor memory and vision loss and I spent four hours filling in passwords, passcodes, ID, pins etc. I was told to contact the fraud department. I told the ignorant fraud man that I have serious life-threatening illnesses. But, he asked me endless questions about how I came across an investment company. I am deeply shocked and highly stressed from the ordeal & interrogation. I will be closing my account and this company deserves a ZERO rating. Horrid!
Horrendous service
Horrendous service. Can't get any service from them on time.
Unhelpful program update
The changes after the update makes the application worse. Before the update the application was excellent. Now it keeps switching to Spanish and it is too complicated to find the record of my transactions.
Programmers should error trap their changes before it's release
Very unhappy
Very unhappy. Great credit rating / history, provided detail application, and refused credit. Not helpful and the response is ambiguous to say the least. I am not sure how on earth you can see that as acceptable in terms of managing something like this, but I guess given the size of company, you'll do nothing. Avoid, and try another bank (even if you have an excellent credit rating / score), are employed and have property!
