Would give 0 stars if possible, switch went smoothly until it came to setting up online. Lots of different codes, take forever to arrive (2 weeks for 3 different letters). Two weeks later again and im... See more

Santander is inexcusably harassing our business!
Santander is inexcusably harassing our business. When I went to pay our vehicle payment last month, their online payment portal showed there was a $1,695 payment made on 7/2/25 and the current payment was $0. I have a copy to prove this. They are now calling us to tell us that the $1,695 payment was applied to principal only and not counted as our monthly payment...but that's not what their website stated. Why are all banks such crooks?
Good fraud protection
The bank recently flagged up a suspicious direct debit I had set up for car tax.
I had realised something wasn't right and was about to call the bank but they had already paused the direct debit request from the company and contacted me straight away to discuss it. They did a few security checks, stopped the payments and blocked the company from any future contact and unfroze my
account within 5 mins.
I found their customer service very good and efficient.
Want to transfer my money in Santander…

Never ever use this bank becomes the worst bank in uk and may be in the world.
FROZE BUSINESS BANK ACCOUNT WITH NO WARNING!
Santander froze our bank account on a Friday causing direct debit, standing order and wages to fail. Customer service was slow and pretty useless .... Phoned 5 or 6 times and on hold for each of them. Customer support for Business accounts are only open Monday to Friday which was of no use to us!
Monday morning at 8.01am we called. Issue was not sorted out until 9.49am after various calls and updating their records.
Been with Santander for over 20 years personally and with our business and find the lack of service totally disgusting! Awaiting for a Manager to contact me and making a formal complaint.
Debit card replacement
It took 3 weeks to get my debit card. I called and was told there was a problem processing the cards. If I wanted to get it faster, I had to pay a fee. The reps I spoke with basically said "live with it" No apology, No understanding!
You can never get through on the phone
You can never get through on the phone, no matter what time of day you call. Utterly useless.
Never ever get a car Loan from this…
Never ever get a car Loan from this company they screw you in every way possible .
Santander discriminates against…
Santander discriminates against foreigners. KYC desks comes up with ridiculous additional requirements which are not asked from everyone in the same format. I was asked to provide documents of activities several times by now and my account is still not active. Bad process.
Absolutely worst bank there could be
Absolutely worst bank there could be. AVOID at alll costs.
Have been a loyal customer for over 25…
Have been a loyal customer for over 25 years now and seen a lot of changes to their personal banking service (mostly for the worst) over that time. In particular, when I was originally advised to upgrade my basic current account to the new 123current account, it paid a top interest rate of 3% but over time that reduced and now I have the 123Lite account which pays 0% interest and is shortly to be discontinued... so I will be transferred back to a basic current account with no monthly cash back (which is currently about £3.20 after deduction of account fees). Also, they have stopped many of the very useful account alert texts (which I relied on to manage my learning-disabled daughter's account); my local branch is being closed very shortly (the last bank left in our town); whilst the ability to pay in cheques at home via the App is great, this often takes over 6 attempts before I can do it successfully! New customers (and those who haven't had a Santander current account this year, so not me!) can get £180 incentive to open certain specified current accounts...
DO NOT SWITCH TO SANTANDER!!!!!!
DO NOT SWITCH TO SANTANDER!!!!!!
I switched to Santander from First Direct. My application has gone into a "fraud application" and required further proofd. The switch happened on the 15th July and I still do not have access to my money on 25/07/2025. They are simply not reviewing the documents they have asked for and I have been unable to make any purchase for over 10 days. I launched a complaint with them to try and resolve this but am yet to be contacted, I am chasing every day and getting nowhere. DO NOT BANK WITH SANTANDER
If I could give them ZERO stars, I would.
I have no idea how they have anything above a 1.
Their support is a complete joke. I am not sure what call center they use in India, but it is probably the cheapest one. If you ask a question that requires them to do any work of any kind, they just disconnect you. Over and over. If you call they will try to pass you around until someone hangs up eventually. Ridiculous.
If you are trying to purchase an automobile and they say they have you approved with Santander, run because a dealership dealing with these clowns is not someone you want to do business with.
"I've been banking with Santander for many years
"I've been banking with Santander for many years and the customer service has been consistently excellent. Staff members are always friendly and helpful, assisting with routine transactions and complex financial planning. They are always quick to respond when I had questions about my account.
Not a good experience
Not a good experience ! The overall process and pay is highly manipulative and not in the same classification with TREATY.
Advance solution and good pay .
I’ve been a customer of Santander for…
I’ve been a customer of Santander for over 15 years and recently they’ve started holding my check deposits for six business days. The reason when I’ve called is that it is “policy“. The only way you know that they’re holding it for more than their usual two business days is if you call. This time it messed up my mortgage payment. The check they’ve held include a paycheck and another check that I’ve received every week, drawn on the same account by the same person, for the past year and a half with no issues.
Honest Gazo
Been with these for 20 years but gone right down hill
I've moved to 1st direct and brilliant!
So relieved to get out of this and better than chatting to a computer called Sandi
When I spoke to someone they said read the small print with other banks but these are the worst!
I was happy to pay my mortgage off with Santander but they charged me a hefty pay off fee
But customer service don't make you feel at home, more like a naugty school kid.
Danger using these idiots can hurt your credit
I have 800+ credit rating, 0 debt and enough income to pay the lease I applied for many many times over. These incompetents said my lease was denied due to income. I could care less except their incompetence could hurt my credit if other people think they are actually professional bankers.
Santander wants me to verify my details
Santander has asked me to verify my details no doubt because of the treasury trying to keep tabs on businesses.
Over the last month I tried unsuccessfully to establish if this was a scam and eventually after 2 long phone calls I decided it wasn't a scam and tried to log on to the bank as instructed.
There is a specific link and they gave me a reference No to get to their form. The system doesn't let me get passed the first log in page. As apparently my account has been frozen I continued to try. Still no good so I have tried to ring the help line. I have now been in hold for the past 48 minutes and this lets me fill in this form!!!!
My Debit card was sent to the wrong…
My Debit card was sent to the wrong address, when I complained I was told a lot of false information.
I escalated it to a formal complaint and was given a complaint number with assurance I would be contacted back and a new card would be sent registered post and will be with me by 5th July.
I phoned to chase the card today. given a rerun of the face information. asked to be put through to a supervisor / manager.
Told no managers were available as it is Saturday and I will be contacted back within 5 working days.
Bad from start to finish
What went wrong? Everything.
Firstly, I want to pay for a new bathroom suite I purchased in a showroom. I tried on my mobile app but there is no way of getting through the security, other than if I had purchased on-line. I tried several times but just became more and more frustrated (that's my posh way of saying angry)
Then, I tried to call the bank for help. No chance as I cannot find a contact number anywhere on the internet - nowhere.
So, I used the 0800 number on the back of my debit card. That's not in use and the message spits out the new number so fast that I had to call the old number three times just to write down the new one.
Next, I rang the new number and had to listen to several minutes of diatribe, reminding ME to "treat their staff with respect" Ha! I will but Santander needs to treat their customers with a modicum of respect too. Any way, after listening to the recording of too much of what they wanted to say and me not being answered..... I gave up!
How did I pay my invoice? I paid it from my much, much better and more professional bank Lloyds. Then I transferred the money from Santander to Lloyds.
What next? I'm going to cancel my remaining account with Santander. A couple of years ago we had three accounts, each maxed in funds. We closed two of them in protest at being pestered to go paper-free. Santander are not worth the trouble.
