We purchased a safe step tub in June 2025. Unfortunately, we had one issue after another with customer service after the sales consult. We have prepared a letter detailing the problems we face... See more

All representatives were highly professional and courteous, however, pricing can be prohibitive for many. My 82-year-old mom, though, appreciated having this experience in her own home, so the family made it work. Mom is so happy with this tub; it was worth it to see her smile.
An eye to detail was plainly visible...
Thanks
How in the world does someone get off the Safe Step mailing list? My mother died a year ago. I have spent MONTHS emailing, writing letters, "chatting" (with "a Live Person" no less, lol) asking Safe Step to remove my late mother's name and address from their marketing database and mailing list. NOTHING.
A Yelp reviewer complained of the same issue and was told that "an outside company" does their marketing and it is impossible for Safe Step to remove a dead person from their database. Ridiculous! How can I trust them to install a $20,000 tub if they can't even keep their mailing list updated?
Show some respect, Safe Step, and remove the deceased from your records when asked. Or at least be honest on your website and give people a link to have their mailing address removed. So frustrating! And such a waste of time and money.

they made the sale to me with the 3 day right to cancel, the price was way high even after all the alleged discounts, the salesman was mostly clueless about installation, but pretended like he had some clues, but he was so silly!@ he called someone to get a better idea of how it goes, because I questioned him hard. He said we needed to make the door way wider! well for the 40,000 they quoted, I could have nearly built a new house, the sale presentation was loaded with illegal statements, and seemed to make many unverifiable claims. After I saw all the 1 star reviews here and read many of them, and saw all the terrible reviews on their BBB page, I sent in my cancellation within 3 days, registered mail return receipt, whoever received the mail, didnt even have the where with all to sign or spell their name in an intelligible way. I was feeling like I may need to sue them, I need to check if they returned my $1000 that I gave them for the down payment.
Sadly they have WAY WAY WAY too many super poor reviews for me. SO I felt safest cancelling.
I also noticed that safe step really works their reviews here hard, which is a bad sign. And it great that Trust pilot works with scum like this and helps them improve their super poor reputation, So I saved all my paperwork and contract so I can upload it if need be for proof of sale/contract.

This is my first review of my safe-step walk in tub. I have given it plenty of time to get used to and I can honestly say, I HATE It!! Worst investment I ever made. I had a shower with a built in seat removed because it was getting difficult for me to get up from the seat. I am having considerably more difficulty getting in and out of this one! So much for “Safe-step”! Door opens in leaving very little room for ingress and egress. Takes a good 15 min. to fill leaving me cold and uncomfortable. The drain is situated so when I step in or out I have to step on it putting it in the closed position. The water valve has no direct on or off between shower and direct flow so it’s by guess and hope for the best. Got out one day, leaving the door open (as suggested) only to hear a ‘dripping’ sound later on that day. Tracked it to the tub. The drain, being stepped on, left the drip to almost overflowing! Had I not been home that day I would have had a flood on my hands. Poor design! I have nothing good to say about this tub! Wish I had my old shower back. All in all, it was much “safer”!

First off, the installers had to come back after being here all day cuz it would not drain. I had told the saleslady and the installer's son when they first got there but I guess no one listens to me. I have never been so disappointed with something in my whole life. $21K for what; nothing but heartache. There are too many buttons to push and not all things work well. The hand-held shower does not have a strong enough water flow. The door is barely wide enough for me; I feel this unit is designed for tall, slender folks. The seat is too far from the front controls. The doorlatch doesn't stay affixed so I ended up with water all over the floor. It never did fill up completely before I was done shampooing and bathing. I feel it must use too much water. The shower curtain kept clinging to my shoulder. One of the smaller side panels keeps popping out? I'm just so disappointed that I probably won't be using it very much so the only benefit is the selling price of the house itself will be higher for my inheritors.

Expert install, took about 3 hours. Everything was cleaned up good, they showed us how to run everything and very polite. They should all get a good raise. We’re happy with the whole team from salesman to completion.
The order was screed up and it took 3 months for Walk-in Tub to straighten it out

Installer had good work ethic, but lacked finesse; seemed to be more intent on completing the job quickly than well done. Sales rep was very adept at sales work, but understated the level of difficulty of installation and residual after affects.

The professionalism, the prompt response and good workmanship.
We are very satisfied with the quality of bathtub installed by Safe Step.
However, we were very disappointed of how disorganized the tub installation process was within our home.
We were not informed, prepared, or aware that our old tub would be demolished within our bathroom and taken out of our home in buckets.
The installers or the Supervisor Management did not say anything about this terrible process. My home was left in an uncomfortable status.
I had to clean out my floor heating registers in the bathroom because nothing was put down to cover the dust of the demolition.
I am still itching form this terrible process.
I was only told by the Installment Manager Colleen Dirks to make sure the bathroom moveable items were taken out of the restroom.
My husband has COPD, and I am an Asthmatic. I had to make sure we were safe. Why I had to tell one of the installers he should have a mask on, and I opened the bathroom window to make sure it was ventilated properly.
This demolition of the bathroom was right up over our basement and caused the laundry room to be full of dust and scrap particles and debris from the demolition of the bathroom walls. I am still washing clothing that was not protected and our cleaning tubs.
Why they didn't even cover the washer where they had to put in the pipe. Pink goo dripped from the pipe onto the washer.
However, I was totally disappointed to come back home and find my hardwood floors has been scratched when I asked them to put something down on the floor before moving it further into the house.
They could not put the door back into place properly for the bathroom and its off track and the frame is now cracked.
If only we had known the proper procedure of how this installation was to be performed, we would have been prepared to protect to
our home.
How could we know if this information was not shared with us to make informed decisions?
I did talk with the Installation Manager Colleen and was promised these concerns would be addressed and someone would come to address our concerns as soon as possible.
I hope they keep their words of promise.
Right now, I am so displeased with this process of how this tub was installed. This process should have been shared during the sale pitch too.
How can we recommend your services without truth?
Thank you for listening to our concerns.
Sincerely,
The installers were personable and went right to work. We had a very small space to get the tub into but they did it successfully! They were very good at explaining the workings of tub controls. The team worked together well. We needed a new panel cover and pillow and they were mailed to us. We needed someone to come out to check a small leak at a connection on the shower. They took our call politely and dispatched a technician within a week. Fantastic!!
While the walk-in tub is nice, the installation was a nightmare. I was told they would need to take my door off for the installation, after removing my old tub I was informed that 1-2 inches of my wall needed to be cut away. At this point I had no other option but to agree as they had cut my old tub in half. During the installation my wallpaper was torn, my new toilet scratched, my new tub scratched, my hallway closet scratched, and my porch railing scratched. I probably have over $1000 in restoration fees to get my house back to a decent condition. As for SafeStep wanting my opinion regarding my installation, I have unsuccessfully tried to contact them twice. It is my understanding that SafeStep subcontracts the installation. Of course I had to sign off on the work with no mention of the issues that I mentioned. Not what I expected after paying $21,000 for a tub.

From the first visit from sales to the decision to purchase, everyone from the home office, installers, office manager, were fantastic to work with. Communications was very thorough and right on. Installation was very precise, highly efficient, and informative. The Safe Step Tub Shower is a very Awesome purchase and the unit is so comforting and relaxing. Very easy to use as the instruction walk through with the installers was very helpful and precise. User’s manual and instructions are very helpful and precise as well. Thank you Safe Step! 👍👍
We are having trouble with mold. We follow the cleaning instructions as directed and we still get mold. The chamber where you put fragrance is covered in black mold. There seems to be stains to the interior tub. My wife and I might use the tub 2 times a month.

Customer srrvice was great from the initial call to the person who came out to sell the safestep tub to the installers who came out to install it. Love the tub! Had another model in another home and while it was great this one is even better
Excellent, professional installers. Finished early & very neat. Very experienced & knowledgeable. No complaints at all!
