I was all excited to try the new Mayo, little did i know 2 days later i was lying sick in my bed because of food posioning. This is totally unacceptable, the food is tasty, but it kills me over time. What is this, a brand or a hitman?

Absolutely shocking customer service…

Absolutely shocking customer service from Rubies in the rubble! After purchasing a bottle of their classic mayo and serving it to my family we were all Met with a strong chemical taste and smell similar to that of nail polish remover indicating there had been some serious contamination with the product. No contact telephone number available. I submitted a “contact us” form on 11th April which has not been responded to. Here’s what I submitted. I strongly recommend you steer clear of this brand! Posting here so that if you have a bottle from the same batch you can throw it and do not attempt to eat it:

I am writing with a serious safety concern regarding our latest bottle of classic mayo that we recently purchased from Ocado (19/02/25). The bottle arrived with an end date of 04/2025, L2208241633. I wasn’t particularly happy with the fact I’d been sent a bottle almost at its end date. The bottle was opened a few days ago and my husband put it in his sandwich. He commented that his sandwich tasted “a bit weird and chemically”. Since there were lots of things in his sandwich he didn’t know what to attribute it to. Fast forward a few days and we have just sat down to a family meal and my son just commented that his burger tasted like chemicals. I immediately took the lid off the mayo to smell it and was met by an overwhelming chemical smell similar to nail polish remover. I was very grateful that I don’t eat mayonnaise so my meal was fine. Everyone else’s burgers went swiftly in to the bin! I have searched online to see if there has been a recall on this batch and have found nothing. I would be grateful if you could contact me so that I can return the product to you for investigation and I will also be contacting Ocado to notify them. We have been buying your mayo for many years (apart from when it periodically seems to disappear!) and have never had a problem before.

Really disappointing behaviour on a company that calls itself “socially responsible”. The founder, Jenny Costa, should be ashamed of how this company that was apparently once “award winning” is now treating its customers. On a plus note, Ocado on the other hand provided excellent customer service and made immediate contact and processed a refund . I will now be contacting the food standards agency to report the Matter since I still have no response.

The worst garlic mayo ever

We bought the garlic mayo at Morrisons..£2.50 + thought that with it being plant based and our daughter is vegetarian, could be a good choice and always want to try different. This has to be the most disgusting gar!ic mayo we have ever tasted. It is really awful. We three tried it and the jar is now in recycling bin. I wouldn't even give it one star. If you like garlic mayo, stay away from this one. Did try and put a complaint on their website. Not possible.

Best vegan mayo brand on the market!

Always very impressed with the efficiency and speed of their service - from placing my order to having it delivered!

Rubies in the Rubble's Tomato Ketchup tastes like the '57 varieties' used to taste - so not too vinegary!

Their vegan mayo is the best on the market - in taste and texture (IMO)

Will continue to order my condiments from Rubies!
