I love Rosy Penguin. It’s a fantastic boutique with a fabulous selection of contemporary clothes and genuinely friendly service from the very stylish superstar that is Judith.

I recently had a personal shopping appointment and it was such a great experience. Judith was friendly, fun and incredibly supportive. She suggested pieces that really suited me — items I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen for myself — and gave useful tips on how to style each one in different ways. Even more importantly, she showed me how they could work together and with other items I already own, building on my capsule wardrobe. It felt thoughtful and personal, never pushy.

The shop may look quite small from the outside, but it’s a real treasure trove inside — very thoughtfully curated with a lovely mix of brands, particularly scandi brands. The location is so convenient too. In fact, Rosy Penguin once came to my rescue when I needed a wedding outfit at the very last minute (same day, after I got confused about the open invite!). I’m working on building a true capsule wardrobe thanks to RP and the lovely Judith.

I even bought a poncho from Rosy Penguin that has travelled with me to Vietnam and New Zealand — it folds up small enough to fit in my handbag — as well as being incredibly useful in Edinburgh. Who knew a poncho could look so cool? And speaking of handbags, I also have a beautiful summer bag from there that I absolutely love.

Judith has a brilliant eye for quality, stylish and fashionable pieces. She manages to select a real mix of clothes that work together and cater for adventurous dressers, those who prefer something simpler, and everyone in between. I’m especially loving the new simple staples that are helping me build strong wardrobe foundations.

Rosy Penguin is an absolute gem — I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Fantastic shopping experience with friends at the shop! It was a private event for just five of us and we got to try on so many outfits and different styles that you would not necessarily try if on your own.

I ordered a pair of Esska shoes in the sale, but was disappointed to find the soles looked as though they had been worn before. They also didn’t fit, so I tried to return them—only to discover the store only issues credit notes, not refunds. This policy feels unfair, especially for online purchases where you can’t try items on beforehand. Customers should have the right to a full refund when items don’t fit or arrive in less-than-new condition even if they are on sale.
