The food and drink was really good. The only reason it was a 4 star not 5. Lack of staff when i arrived. It was very busy with 1 member of staff serving.
It has been 13 years since I was here last, and even though it has vastly expanded it is still as nice, welcoming, friendly, and fairly priced as before.
A carvery, £14.50, was more than enough to keep me full till breakfast. The meat was beautifully cooked and the vegetables perfectly prepared.
Even though it was very busy with the lunchtime rush, the staff were exceptionally friendly and polite.
I won’t be leaving it another 13 years before coming back and I recommend you book to avoid disappointment.
Staff are always friendly to ourselves and our toddler. Meals use high quality ingredients and it really shows!
We are regulars for breakfast and it is our go to place!
Absolutely Awful. Firstly, we have been several times, only ever had one issue with the food prior to this, and that was a sasuage being rock hard (first visit) all in all we have been around 6/7 times for breakfast and once for a carvery. On this certain visit which is the reason for this review, our coffees tasted burnt, and of course paying costa priced you politely ask for it to be remade, when the food arrived the bacon was so chewy and hard it was unable to be cut with a knife, so we let them know.. waitress asked if I’d like it changed and I politely said no, because it was outright horrible to be honest, when leaving our table she was shaking her head, which is not professional at all, so I decided I won’t be returning ever again. Prior to this, we had a visit and the food was fine, but what we did see was a waitress slating other customers to ‘regulars’ she had told other customers who were seated before the ‘regulars’ that there was no Avacado (after taking the order) so she could go and give the last to the ‘regulars’ she even went out of her way to walk outside the side door by the kitchen and back through another side door so the customer who missed out didn’t see that she had in fact gave the non existent Avacado to someone else, she slated the woman she lied to to the ‘regulars’ 4/5 times whilst we were eating, we even said to each other at the time I wonder what she says about them to others.
When we complained about our coffee and bacon and the waitress shook her head at me I decided I didn’t want to be in there and I left, three waitresses then ganged up on my husband saying we were the problem, for complaining about food? Apparently we always have a issue, this is the first time we’ve ever complained, they tried to bad mouth us to all the other customers in there when in fact they are absolutely shocking, the fact alone they lie and slate customers just goes to show, but to get aggressive and make a scene because soemone is honest about your food is absolute madness, how can they improve if they don’t know things are wrong? Or do they just want to take peoples money and treat them badly?
So if your ever told they have ran out of something, don’t believe it, and if you have a problem with your food, be careful you don’t get shouted at and made out to be at fault for food you are expected to pay for but didn’t cook!
It’s very sad for the owners that they have such terrible staff that are absolutely ruining the place!
We will never ever be returning.

Firstly, we found it very difficult to book as the phone was never answered. Several messages were left but they were not returned. We finally booked for 10 people for Easter Sunday to celebrate a a 70th birthday party. Our main gripe, apart from the expense, was that it was not a true carvery In that customers were not allowed to serve themselves to vegetables due to “health and safety reasons” as the vegetables were too hot! I requested to serve my own vegetables but was told I was not allowed to as the risk was too high and therefore I ended up with vegetables just being piled on my plate in a random fashion which meant it was not at all appetising. They might as well just have served the vegetables on the table as other restaurants do. The portion of meat was also not particularly generous for the money.
In addition a Merlot type red wine was requested and we were told that they only sold Shiraz by the glass. This is not acceptable. Merlot was available if bought by the bottle.
It was busy being Easter Sunday, but service was incredibly slow. We had to wait absolutely ages for our desserts orders to be taken and for the food to arrive. We only just managed to eat in our allotted slot of two hours.
I would certainly not return there and would not recommend it.

Kirsty was welcoming and efficient. The breakfast was second to none. Really delcious bacon. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant, the place was busy but didn't feel crowded. Faye, Kirsty and Libby clearly enjoy working here and are good as a team.
After some very good reviews in the past, having been many many times, today was disaster, the general table service was incredibly incredibly slow, having to ask for everything in person, the sunday lunch was Poor, the long queues many items missing from the plate after asking, My ploughman’s was a disgrace, Too busy with little care to the table, a long break needed for my family
We came here for my partners birthday lunch ( first visit after finding it on google
search ) we had a lovely lunch food was fantastic. The staff were very attentive and friendly & the place is reasonably priced.
We enjoyed our day & the purchases from the on-site shop. We returned for Sunday lunch had the carvery which was the best I’ve had in a long time!
Definitely recommend & definitely will return when I’m next back in the area on holiday or maybe just for the experience again :)
Amazing experience and amazing food. We have been here twice in one week that’s how much we enjoyed it. Can’t wait to come back
