Unexpected Charges, Poor Communication, and Unacceptable Cancellation Process
I chose Regus because I believed I was dealing with a professional international company. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing.
When I first visited the Regus office in Roeselare, the staff were very friendly. I do not speak Dutch well, but the contract was presented entirely in Dutch. I signed the contract without receiving a clear explanation of the financial obligations, additional charges, cancellation conditions, or other important terms. Before signing, I was only informed that the monthly fee would be around €186.
Because Regus is a well-known international company, I trusted them and signed the agreement.
Before I had even completed my first month, I received my first invoice for approximately €700. I was shocked because this amount was completely different from what had been explained to me. When I contacted the Roeselare office, I was told that this included a security deposit, advance payments, the current month, and the following month. These important costs were never clearly explained before signing the contract.
I also received an unexpected charge of €2.50 for a coffee that was offered to me by a Roeselare employee. I was not informed that this coffee was not included and that I would later receive an invoice for it.
Because of this experience, I decided to cancel my agreement. I was instructed to send an official cancellation letter to the Switzerland head office at my own expense. I sent the letter by post, which cost me €77. This requirement and cost were never explained before I signed the contract.
The Switzerland office informed me that my contract would be cancelled from 1 August and that I would receive written confirmation by post. However, until now, I have not received any confirmation that my contract has been terminated.
I have contacted the Roeselare office and the Switzerland office more than 20 times. The response has always been that I have to wait, or that the responsible employee is on vacation without any replacement. I was even told that I should call again when the employee returns.
For a company that presents itself as a professional international organisation, this level of communication and customer service is unacceptable.
My main concern is not only the unexpected costs, but the lack of transparency and the difficulty of getting a clear answer. I relied on Regus' reputation, but my experience has been very disappointing.
I do not recommend Regus to anyone. If you are considering signing a contract with them, be extremely careful and make sure every cost and condition is clearly explained in writing before signing.
