I bought a refurbished tuner from Reclaimed Audio. The tuner works beautifully and the help and advice we received from Wayne of Reclaimed Audio was excellent.
I do not trust this company. Will not refund me for a product that does not function for my VCR
Sold me a cleaning tape that will not work as it's supposed to. It made the most awful noises inside my machine then it just stopped. I inspected the tape and saw it does not have a button on the side that is important to lift the rear flap.
Before making a complaint I sought help from VHS experts who told me it must have a button to open for the machine to access the tape but Reclaimed Audio told me it doesn't need a button.
My friend has a cleaning tape so I asked her for a photo that showed her cleaning tape had the button on the side. If cleaning tapes don't need buttons on the side, Why does her's have one and her tape works but mine doesn't?
This poorly made product nearly damaged my VCR from the sound of it. I have been preparing to do conversions of home movies and getting a cleaning tape was an important part as it was to prep my machine before I started.
I received a product that was unbranded with no place of manufacture on the box. I cannot make a complaint to the creator of this tape so it will remain in circulation unfortunately and sounds like Reclaimed Audio is going to keep trying to sell it so I felt the need to warn others.
The plastic of the shell is horrible compared to branded VHS cassettes. There were no viewing windows which I expected since on the Reclaimed Audio site the picture showed one and the tape I received was just plastic all over so I couldn't see inside.
I have owned a cleaning tape before made by a well known company and it was fantastic, so the bad quality of this tape was very noticeable.
Here is a quote from Reclaimed Audio after telling me why it did not need a button which I must say this person was the first ever to say out of many people I have spoken with.
"So, there is no fault with the cleaner product sorry. You're either dealing with a machine that has a fault, or, alternatively, a machine that does not suit the use of cleaning tapes and can only be manually cleaned."
My machine has played videos perfectly leading up to trying the cleaning tape, how dare he say my VCR must be faulty when he sold me a poorly made, flimsy product and won't admit it.
My VCR is a Panasonic, A very common respected brand. I suggest Reclaimed Audio update their site saying the cleaning tapes they sell are not compatible with Panasonic before stealing more people's money.
I find it alarming that because the tape is not compatible with my machine that I am not eligible for a refund, Is that the same for everyone who buys the electronic devices? They get home and your product is not compatible so you are out of pocket because this in the view of reclaimed audio is not grounds for a refund.
I am not happy it had no button, viewing window or the general build of the tape which was cheap. I am not happy your product caused my machine to get confused and not be able to understand what was just inserted in it causing it's mechanisms to work harder than they should.
I checked an Australian consumer page and it said must match sample shown on site and be fit for purpose and if not that is grounds for a refund but I was denied one.
This tape looked nothing like the one on the website, it is of poor quality and absolutely not fit for purpose for me as it does not work at all, if anything it nearly damaged my VCR rather than help.
Avoid at all costs
