Ramp's platform released $92K from our account, their own docs prove it shouldn't have been possible, and they refuse to take responsibility
I've run businesses for over two decades. This is the worst experience I've ever had with a financial platform.
In March 2026, nine bills totaling $92,453.70 were released as payments from our Ramp account. I am the only person authorized to release payments. Our team member Sandi was assigned the AP Clerk role, which is a bill approval role. Ramp's own published documentation states, word for word: "AP Clerks cannot: Release payments."
Despite that, when Sandi approved the bills as part of her normal daily workflow, Ramp's system released $92,453.70 in payments. There was no separate "release payment" button, no confirmation screen, no warning that she was doing anything other than her usual invoice approval.
When we caught it, we tried to cancel immediately inside the platform. The system returned errors every time. We called support and told them not to process the payments. They processed them anyway.
What happened next was worse. Over five weeks, Ramp gave us three completely different and contradictory explanations. First, their support rep said the bills were "auto-approved" by the system and "the Ramp bill approval workflow was skipped automatically." Then a different rep said a user was "manually added for payment release." Then their Head of Litigation wrote that our workflow had been "updated to include" Sandi as a payment releaser. Our bookkeeper pulled the audit log from inside Ramp's own platform. It shows one thing: Sandi was added as an AP Clerk. That's it. She was never added to Payment Release. Only I appear in Payment Release.
So Ramp's own documentation says AP Clerks can't release payments, their own platform shows Sandi was only ever an AP Clerk, and their Head of Litigation told us something that the evidence directly contradicts.
Their resolution? They told us to contact the vendor and ask for a refund on invoices that were never valid. They've also referred us to collections for the $92,453.70.
When Sandi reported the charge to Ramp's support chat as unauthorized, Ramp's system treated it as a potential fraud case, locked her card, and offered to file a fraud dispute. But they never reversed the bill payments.
They also ignored multiple written requests to cancel our account for weeks.
I am now pursuing this through the CFPB, the Texas Attorney General, the New York Department of Financial Services, and legal counsel. If you're considering Ramp for your business, ask them these questions before you sign up: What happens if a user in an approval-only role accidentally triggers a payment release? What does the cancellation process actually look like when something goes wrong? How fast can you reach a human when $92K is walking out the door?
I wish someone had warned me.
Card has been compromised three times…
Card has been compromised three times in 3 months. Turnaround time for card replacement is almost 1 week. It's been nothing but and enormous headache. I do not recommend.
Beware The Free Gift Card
This company engages in the tactic of promising a gift card for taking part in a sales call. But in my case they never delivered on the offer after conducting two full calls and asking about it multiple times. I actually agreed to take part in a third call just to see if they would follow through. They ended up cancelling the call with me because our accountant wouldn't be joining me on the call. That was never part of the initial discussion...I think it was just their way of getting out of the call for some reason. None of it made sense. Also, my main contact changed three times in the last three months.
RAMP
Wuhan Wangsheng - answering your question - when I purchased the money had to go to another app called Ramp and I had a lot of issues. But I paid it and I never heard from anyone ever again

Terrible customer support and no one knows what they are doing. Would highly recommend sticking to Amex and Chase - these small startups just don't know what they are doing
Love this product
Love this product! Ramp has been such a great experience for me. The card is incredibly easy to maneuver, the platform is clean and intuitive, and everything just works the way it should. Managing expenses, tracking spend, and staying organized has never been simpler. I truly appreciate how efficient and user‑friendly it is as it makes my day-to-day so much smoother. Highly recommend!
Should be zero
Should be zero. One is being very generous. I meet every requirement other than having a current business bank statement. LLC Started less than a week ago. So said with draw my application till I can get business bank statements and the wanted me to link personal funds to an LLC business. Not happening. Would post responses back and forth if I could. My attorney handling at this point.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Have used Ramp monthly for over a year to convert creditcard to crypto for payment to a service provider. Recent problems with a transaction had me contact the service provider. They indicated it must be a problem with Ramp payment. Ramp's response was the service provider was not an approved partner. So instead of dealing with the unapproved service provider, Ramp blocks my account. They block the person paying their service fees. They also take weeks to respond. Ridiculous. Avoid at all costs.
Be Careful. Will Remove Rewards Without Notification.
First experience using a Bill Pay and Corporate Card platform. At first, it's great as you have a dedicated onboarding rep. But overall setup on Bill Pay is a challenge and not great for working capital if you send checks through them. Additionally, I had 1% rewards and then without telling me they put it to 0% and even support doesn't know why. Support is also difficult to speak to a real person unless you need to challenge a charge. Will be taking my business elsewhere.
What would have happened if I wasn't persistent? Crooks!
Ramp notified me on 2/2 that payment would arrive on 2/4. It did not. On 2/6, I notified my payor's CEO that I hadn't received payment. CEO asked if I had contacted Ramp? I 'suggested' that the CEO should find out where his payment due me was, but I did click a link that allowed me to message Ramp about the missing payment. No replies. Yesterday, I sent the CEO a screenshot of the Ramp portal that said payment was 8 days overdue. CEO called me. We talked. He called Ramp and told me that it was extremely difficult to get a human on the phone because Ramp is 'all-in' on AI, but he did and they escalated the issue and would get back to him. The money hit my account today, but no comment, explanation or apology from Ramp.

The platform is great but the onboarding is terrible.
I was given a success manager who informed us that he could only meet with us twice. I have been totally on my own navigating this system with AI modules and shoddy customer service.
It has been quite a challenge putting this system to use.
My company switched to ramp for payroll…
My company switched to ramp for payroll (1099 clinicians). Taking forever to get the ach deposit. Completely ridiculous with the advancement in technology. Seems fishy, almost like the added wait is to allow interest to draw off of our (clinicians) owed monies. Getting sick of these tech companies. Dime a dozen and this one clearly can’t get ach deposited in any sort of timely manner.
Infuriating customer service
These guys have terrible customer service and seemingly no internal communication or CRM abilities.
Trying to sign up for this company was…
Trying to sign up for this company was like teaching an insect how to cook scrambled eggs. I provided all the information that was requested and Ramp still asserts that it doesn’t know enough about my company. The fact that the company is based in New York City should ne alarming because a communist mayor is about to take over
Dear Ramp Customer Support Team,
Dear Ramp Customer Support Team,
I am writing to formally complain about the extremely poor service my company has experienced with Ramp.
After our customer’s vendor account was fully signed up, Ramp took over one week to process a customer payment to us. During that time, we received no clear explanation as to why the payment did not go through, despite repeated follow-ups. This lack of transparency caused unnecessary delays and created confusion for both us and our customer.
In addition to the payment delay, Ramp’s customer service process has been unacceptable. Your service phone number is not readily available, and we were required to send multiple emails before being provided with a way to speak to a live representative. Even then, we were repeatedly redirected to app-based verification and ticket submissions before being allowed to talk to someone. This process is excessive, inefficient, and frustrating—especially when dealing with urgent payment issues.
It took multiple requests just to reach a live person, which is unreasonable for a financial services platform handling customer payments. The overall experience has been extremely disappointing and has negatively impacted our operations.
We expect timely payment processing, clear communication when issues arise, and accessible customer support. Unfortunately, Ramp has failed in all three areas. Based on our experience, this service is not reliable and not recommended.
Please escalate this complaint and provide a written explanation for the payment delay, along with details on how Ramp plans to improve communication and customer support responsiveness going forward.
Sincerely,
RAMP-No longer recommed without caveats
I'm a businessman and have used and recommended ramp card for several years. My opinion is changing. They have invested heavily in technology and automation. However that asset slaps back;what is gained they lack on the humanity side. You can expect a level of business understanding that will be very shallow as well as no empathy and random changes to your purchasing power that could be detrimental to your business. I would consider them as an option but definitely have other things in place because they may surprise you with difficulty when you least expect it. Consider an AXP or Discover as a companion as you will need it at times of disappointment.
This is an unusual company
This is an unusual company. While they may have great products, their screening and onboarding is a mess. I have multiple companies of various sizes and their intake form asks for a "connection to our financial system" long before I have a conversation about the service/ pricing/ etc. Not sure what their target market is but apparently an older businessperson/ entrepreneur isn't it. Oh, and I have been prospected multiple times after being "turned down" by their auto-responder email on one of my businesses. They keep asking if I'll fill out their calendar for a 15 minute meet and greet. Why the barrier in one case and the open arms in the other? Plain and simple, in a land of AI and automations, you have some work to do. A mult-billion dollar valuation, yeah, right. Final note: they stood me up for the video call.
Ramp makes business expenses easy
Ramp makes business expenses easy. With texting notifications for purchasing, submit reciepts with a text pic, mark the designated accounts for expeses, and a confirmation of completed transactions.
Ramp has made our company spending a breeze. Each department has thier own card to manage spending and budget limits.
We should have switched to RAMP sooner.
6 month user
Don't believe the marketing.....
They lie to you about features in order to get you to sign up. Once you're in, the service is terrible and the functionality is far worse than the sales pitch. They are a decade behind Bill.com (Divvy). Absolute piece of trash Company. I gave up on RAMP after 6 months. I truly wanted it to work well.
