I would encourage anyone considering this plumber to proceed very carefully.
I hired them to connect a washing machine at my property. Instead of connecting it to the existing pipe that had previously served the old machine, they connected it to a different pipe. At the time of installation, I specifically asked them to verify the connection.
Several months later, it became clear that the washing machine had been connected incorrectly. This resulted in prolonged underfloor flooding in my basement, causing significant water damage and mould beneath the tiled floor.
The total remedial works amounted to over £30,000. I had to make a claim through my home insurance, pay an enormous excess, and my annual premium has since increased by over £1,500 as a result of the claim.
I raised the matter directly with the plumber. He came and of course forgot everything, when pressed , he advised me to "take it" or "come at us!". furhter escalation to the owner, who initially stated they would investigate, but I did not receive any follow-up or resolution.
For transparency, I also checked with recognised industry bodies and was informed that this plumber is not registered with them.
This has been an extremely costly and stressful experience arising from what should have been a straightforward installation. I am now pursuing formal advice regarding recovery of my losses.
I don’t believe the last 3 reviews as must have been reviewing a completely different company We have been using Putney plumbers for many years and apart from actually being local I woken heartily recommend them Our most recent issue was a malfunction b underfloor heating system Tony came over several times , always on time and got our system up and running despite many issues with it Sebastian has also visited a few times and they are both tidy considerate helpful and very knowledgeable Charges are reasonable and no hidden charges unlike some cowboys out there Also their operations team are a delight to deal with . Always pick up the phone quickly and seem to be always available and are unfailingly courteous and helpful
One of their plumbers came to repair a radiator leak and check the boiler as the pressure was dropping. The leak repair was carried out in a straightforward manner. When asked why the boiler pressure was dropping the plumber did not check anything but told us we obviously had a leak in our newly installed underfloor heating. His solution was that we should ‘move house’ as we would end up with a massive hole in our floor and he would never install wet underfloor heating. This was an extremely unhelpful and unnecessary comment causing us a lot of stress. The boiler was in fact faulty has since been repaired and the pressure is now stable.
A month ago I contacted them to fix issues with our shower. Someone came out a few days later, but said that his colleague needed to deal with it and the office would be in touch. That was fine, but I did not hear back from Putney Plumbers so I contacted them again -this time I was told that the colleague was on leave and they would get back to me. Eventually someone else was booked to ‘have a look’. Four weeks after my original call that appointment has now also been cancelled. The reason for the cancellation may have been legitimate, but I was unexpected to wait for a further week for them to come out. Very defensive and no sense of them caring that I was being let down again. I have given up!
I booked an appointment with them for some plumbing work at my home. Confirmed with them the day before! I took the day off- early in the morning get a call for a plumber that he doesnt do the work asked of him. They said they would send a replacement. When you call their service there are a bunch of associates who basically do nothing - say they will call back, are rude, dont apologize and just make you wait! I wouldnt recommend their service to anyone if time is of the essence! I obviously couldn't get to that because no one showed up!
