Prudent Pet Insurance Reviews 

I submitted statements twice for my pet and have not received any reimbursement for vaccines that I was told would be.

Incredible, empathetic, quick response customer service. We just switched over from Healthy Paws (after 8 years, and a surprise doubling of our monthly rates)… and have been impressed and happy so far! So glad we found PP through PIPA pet insurance marketplace (and they donate back to support dog rescues and shelters)

I had my 12-year-old Yorkie baby, Lola, insured with Prudent Pet in May 2025. Seven months later, she passed away in November 2025. My father and aunt had passed away two months prior, and I was completely devastated. It was one of the worst times of my life.

The last thing any pet parent wants to deal with is worrying about how much the after-hours emergency vet bill is going to be, and whether the claim will be approved, while knowing your fur baby has to be put down. I called Prudent Pet in tears, and they made the claims process very easy for me. I was so worried about the cost because I was staying at VEG, a 24/7 emergency vet facility that allows you to sleep overnight with your sick pet.

I called Prudent Pet while I was still there, worrying about the cost of staying for two nights at VEG, and explained what was happening with Lola. They assured me that my policy would take care of 90% of Lola’s covered expenses while I was at the hospital. After I came home, after losing my baby, I called Prudent Pet again, still crying, and they handled everything for me. They helped by contacting VEG and getting the paperwork they needed for me, because I could not physically or emotionally handle it at that time. They were caring and compassionate. I did not get the name of the person who helped me, but thank you so much. I received the check for the claim the following week. There was nothing I had to do other than grieve Lola, my dad, and my aunt, who was also my godmother.

I’m still grieving Lola, but I am considering another fur child when the time is right. There is no doubt in my mind that I will choose Prudent Pet Insurance again.

When I signed up with Prudent Pet last year, there were almost no bad reviews on Trustpilot, so I was very surprised when I read some of the latest one- and two-star reviews. I wondered if Prudent Pet had gone down in quality, which is important to me because I want to make sure I choose the right insurance for a future fur child. Many of the reviews mention not receiving documents, which is so strange to me because when I signed up, I was sent a text with my policy details and status, and I was told the documents would be emailed to me. All of my documents were also available in the patient portal, so the reviews asking, “Where are my documents?” did not make sense based on my experience.

Regarding the person who complained about not liking the sample policy, I do not know her exact situation. However, I was also concerned about whether the sample policy applied in Texas when I first researched Prudent Pet, and Andreaa from Prudent Pet was happy to send me the Texas state amendatory endorsement.

I also will not forget Rebecca from sales, who sold me the policy. She was wonderful. She actually has dogs herself and understood my needs for Lola when helping me choose the best policy. When I’m ready for a new policy one day, I will look for Rebecca to sign me up again.

I’m writing this review to say that I highly recommend Prudent Pet because I had the best experience at the worst time, with all the deaths in my family. At one of the most vulnerable and terrible times of my life, Prudent Pet had my back and supported me all the way.

1. The insurance covers a good amount
2. Contacting customer service is a handful it’s hard to get into contact with someone but once you do they do solve your problems.
3. I have conflicting opinions on how long it takes to get claims back some have taken a few days where I’ve had others go on for 3 weeks and have called with no update on them.
4. I would much rather dentals be covered by illness and injury rather than wellness. Dentals are very pricy and normally if you are giving dental chews and things like that it is preventative however if it’s not enough a dental is needed and it’s not covered under the injury or illness like I had thought. It deceived me a little cause I saw dental in my agreement but only for broken teeth which was not pointed out to me. So I will have to pay for the procedure all out of my pocket.

I had recently bought this pet prudent insurance thinking I was going to save money but they ended up not being able to help me I recently went to get a wellness check for my cat and filed a claim for her in which they didn’t get back to me until two weeks just for me to find out I’ve been rejected in which I’m confused because I payed extra for the wellness coverage in which they did not cover as well thanks a lot👍

The company is really sneaky in the per insurance, it's crazy hard to see what taking place due to the web page I was using when I was approved for adopting a rescue pet. Then all of a sudden I get a notice that they charged my account, then a notice they are charging my account today as well!!! I was paying the Rescue agency the adoption fees and this Prudent Pet insurance scams in and starts immediately charging. I tried for 4 hours to reach someone to cancel and NOTHING!! Emails. Voicemails, nothing back. Nothing on the website allows me to cancel either (or it's hidden so well) the company is horrible due to this. Due to the shady method this company gets its business, I suggest no one purchase pet insurance through this agency.

Transparency is the key! Thank you for being clear about your policies regarding renewals and the ability to do medical records. Reviews to know exactly what is covered and what is not.

I did not sign up for the service. I checked the decline box and got charged anyways! However, customer service was helpful.
