Down Hill Spirow
I was told I was dealing with ADT then it went down hill from there. I was told one thing to get me to buy into it once I was signed up I was told several different stories. If I knew what I know now I would have never signed up.
Deceptive practices and charges.
After 24 years of service,we sold our home and were told our account would be suspended, on hold, for up to 9 months... while we searched for a condo.Instead we were charged for 6 more months after we had sold the house!! When we told them we had no house to be charged service for,and wanted a refund for improper charges ,we were told that we not only still had to pay for the service in the new owners house, but we owed $700 more to cancel that service.Dwayne, the so called customer service representative, was not only unacomidating, but EXTREMELY RUDE.We very unfairly and reluctantly had to pay almost $1,000.00 to cancel that service! Don't get SUCKED into Protection One's system of locking customers in for multiple years of service whether you have a place to protect or not!! Very unhappy!
Easy to set up; easy to monitor
Instructions and phone support were very user friendly. Made the whole process of set up and monitoring very easy. Can't wait to expand our security system with more sensors and motion detectors.
First time user
First time user, easy to install and easy-to-use. Great service no problems so far
It's alright
So I had to run wires for cameras. When I bought it thought they were wireless. It's an easy hook up. Only thing I have and still have trouble doing was mobile app set up. Still can't see my cameras ok smart phn. Technical service sucked. Spent 3 days calling with no answer. Waited on phone for over 3 hours with no answer. Even submitted online Tech help to have them call me. No call back.
Terrible customer service
We recently bought a house in NOLA. The previous owners used Protect 1 so I attempted to use them as well. I contacted one of their customer service agents, who noted that the previous owners names were on their records. After keeping me on hold, he came back and noted that the person who the seller dealt with messed up and scheduled to hook up their new home didn't removed the old home. OK. So several weeks later I call back to schedule installation and they refuse! Seems that the first agent I talked with never corrected the problem. Agent number 2 I dealt with refused to deal with me and was rude.
I only gave them one star because this doesn't allow zero stars. Terrible customer service, stay away.
Easy install
I bought the self installation and it was very easy to install, and have activated. Technician said it would take 40 or so minutes to test and activate, but took far less time and she was great to work with.
Lack of customer service
I been with this company for over 15 years, never late on my bill, I have a decent residential alarm. I recently was upgrading my alarm system, call ahead, made appointment properly, and waited patiently. They told me a 1-5 hour window, kinda of poor but I would deal with it. Well the technician call me on the 5 hour on my day off that I was patiently waiting for and says he is an hour away. Now I live in Chicago which is a major city so services should be in town. I was burned and robbed of my day off. The so called tech guy was not professional over the phone, like I was waisting his time for him to come and install my upgrade. I would think twice about signing up with these guy and consider other options. Unfortunately I am stuck with them for two more years!
Rip Off
My Mother and I lived together. I paid the monitoring fee EVERY month by direct debit to MY account. Mother passed away so I called Protection One to have it in my name. That was the ONLY change, the name. No code change, not system change, nothing except the name. I did not want to sign a contract as we are most likely selling and moving South. Protection One wants to CHARGE me $49.00 for the change. Rip Off.
Efficient, reliable, and courteous service. I trust them.
They are there, when ever I call.
Above Average Installation Service. Testing?
I now have the protection 1 service installed, however I would like to test the operational/detection and response efficiency of an actual break-in scenario. How can I simulate a test to measure Protection 1 response time?
2nd technical was very rude
I ordered 2 packages 1st one I set up the technical was very nice went out of his way to make sure everything works. The 2nd time the technical was really rude he didn't even tell me about the code that you have to use if someone force you to put in the passcode
Worst possible experience
We've been with Protection One since August 2016 and we have had nothing but problems with the company. The components have been failing at every point on the way. Getting a service person out always takes a while, they show up early or late for their four hour windows, and come completely uninformed of the issues and without the proper hardware to address the issues, resulting in another round of visits. Calls to the service center always require a long wait. The agents are friendly but not well trained. We have yet to get them to help us with setting up a permit with the city, which is required here. We were charged a large fine by the city due to a false alarm due to Protection One's faulty equipment and not having a city permit. Protection One has taken no responsibility for this and will not even help us submit the permit as the city requires. Just a horrible, time-wasting experience all around. I wish we had never signed up with this company.
Disappointed and taken advantage
This is the first bad review I have given. The reason being is that I was told I would be getting exactly what was in the house I moved into which had a contract with protection one, & I didn't. There were three control pads and when the installer showed up he only had one, so I have one instead of the three I was promised. I was also told I would be wireless and I am not. The installer used pre-existing wired alarms and some wireless. So I should be dissatisfied and disappointed. I tried calling once but got no where. Now that the craziness of the holiday season is over, I will call again and complain. I feel taken advantage'd of and lied to .
So far, so good!
We've only been with Protection One for about a month. So far, we are very happy with your company. Keep up the good work.
Finally Satisfied
Although my experience began extremely unsatisfactory, the company redeemed themselves, in the end. I was promised a certain arrival time for installation, due to my work schedule. It seems, the tech received an emergency call prior to my appointment time, which affected my 8am arrival time to 1pm. What a situation that impacted a 6hr. late arrival to my job. The Tech was very defensive when he arrived, but later apologized for the disconnect in communication and broken promises. The installation took about 2hrs., but very clean and informative. I arrived to my job 6hrs late, but I was glad the experience was done and over with.
Installation experience great, however billing, and promise of credit not good
The installation and technician were great. The tech offered a month of free service for the installation. I know these things take time and I've waited now for 4 months. I contacted billing and the agent stated to me that there's no information on file and she does not know why the techs offer a month of service at no cost because it will not happen (her words).
I asked protection one to contact the tech and she said okay. To date I have not received a call back or my month of service free. My account continues to be charged each month but no acknowledgement of the offer. I've had many friends and family to ask about referrals but I will not because of this issue.
There's no guarantee that if I refer someone that I will receive the referral bonus since I haven't received the first offer. Leaves a sour taste in my mouth and until this matter is resolved I will not refer anyone...
Great
Excellent Customer Service. Only thing that could be improved is billing. I still have not yet received my paper statement in the mail!
