I recently purchased a Profoto Connect kit via Wilkinson Cameras, and unfortunately the unit arrived defective (would not hold charge or connect reliably). Faults happen — but what has been most disappointing is how the issue was handled, particularly on Profoto’s side.
Despite escalating the issue urgently ahead of a wedding, Profoto’s communication was poor. I was passed between Wilkinson, Luminary, and Profoto with no one taking clear ownership. Gustav at Profoto did reply initially, but his responses were defensive and did not provide the clarity, urgency, or support I needed as a working professional about to shoot a critical job.
Wilkinson did what they could, but with no stock available and no immediate loan or solution offered, I was left stranded without a functioning trigger. For a premium brand like Profoto, this level of support and communication is unacceptable.
When professionals invest at this level, it’s not just the gear they’re buying — it’s the confidence that the brand will stand behind them when things go wrong. In this case, that confidence was badly shaken.
