Unbelievably Frustrating PS5 Purchase Experience
I’ve genuinely grown to dislike PlayStation after the experience I’ve had trying to purchase a PS5 over the last four weeks. What should be a straightforward transaction turned into an unnecessarily frustrating process riddled with transaction failures on direct.playstation.com and absolutely no meaningful or relevant customer support.
Despite repeated attempts to resolve the problem, I received no clear guidance, no ownership of the issue, and no real help, just time wasted. If I hadn’t already promised my nephew this console, I wouldn’t have thought twice about walking away entirely.
For a company of this size, the lack of effective support and basic transaction handling is UNACCEPTABLE. This has been the most painful purchasing experiences I’ve had.

I forgot my password then my DOB. That suspended my whole account, I tried contacting PlayStation. It has been 5 hours of talking, currently sat in a 44 minute call hold. In that 5 hours I have got literally nowhere, they said it was a Sony issue and then when I contacted Sony they said it was a PlayStation issue. They suspended my console purchases too even on other accounts so I can’t play a game that I got a gift card for for Christmas. Seems like they have absolutely no interest in helping their customers

I am writing this to express my sincere regret regarding my first experience with PlayStation support. As a first-time user of the PS5 system, I am still learning how the store and different game versions work.
Due to my lack of experience, I accidentally purchased the 'GTA Online' standalone version for £20, not realizing that it is impossible to launch or play without an additional PlayStation Plus subscription, which I do not have. As soon as I realized my mistake, I showed my good faith by immediately purchasing the correct 'Story Mode' version separately for another £20.
When I contacted support (Case #48665778, agent Lucca), I was met with a very rigid refusal for a refund simply because the first game had already been downloaded. It is deeply saddening that a major company chooses to follow its policy so mechanically without considering the specific circumstances—an honest mistake by a new customer who has now paid twice for the same content. This experience has unfortunately cast a shadow over my start with the PlayStation ecosystem.

Misleading subscriptions in Australia
Don't buy a Playstation Plus subscription especially if you want Game Streaming in Australia. Premium is called Deluxe in Australia to mislead you. It is still expensive but does not include streaming. Sony will take your money for a subscription even if you don't own a Playstation.
Try and get hold of support? Forget it - AI and limited hours.
Should never have dealt with Sony - my son wanted a streaming subscription. I've got an Xbox and Microsoft Customer Support is fantastic.
Absolutely terrible service
Absolutely terrible service. A game was accidentally downloaded and it required a PS Plus subscription to play, which wasn't known at the time. After a lengthy effort just to get ahold of someone, they did everything in their power to tell me how they can't do anything as far as a refund. I'm done with Playstation.

Voucher code scratched off and damaged. Had dozens without issue. Scratched off three at same time with same method but this one was damaged. Sony customer service was dreadful. Would not entertain anything without purchase receipt. It was A GIFT??!!! They went on to say I could request a refund but it would suspend my account indefinitely. I’ve just cancelled my ps account. Absolutely disgusted by this.

Don’t ever order from their website as it says 1-2 days delivery and I ordered back on the 12th December now been told all orders backlogged so won’t receive till after Christmas but never put anything on their website because you can’t have a refund even though your order hasn’t been processed or anything.. because it’s gone pass the 30mins after ordering but nothing on the site

Pretty depressing experience - bought a game that did not work. Asked for a refund and was told that they cannot offer refunds for games that do not work, because it is the publisher's fault. I paid the money to Sony as I bought the game digitally, so this does not seem right - the publisher cannot refund me. Sony didn't really care.

I was trying to sign into an account from the ps3 i couldnt get in because the account was created 15 years ago and i forgot the password. It then didn't let me reset the password so i contacted customer service. i had to spend 15 minutes with a bot that doesnt inderstand the phrases "i dont know that information" and "i do not have access to that information" as it was asking about a 2 step verification identifier from 15 years ago. i finally got to a real human who then said i cant help you because your dad created the account and i would need to talk to him whilst i told this individual he was in the room with me. they refused to help me and then i had to just accept i cant get into my account anymore thanks to this horrific customer service.
