A great little company.

I've hired from Penny for more than 10 years. It's a great little company, friendly with proper customer service and you get what you booked. If you are staight with them they will be straight with you. No hard up-selling (unlike the large chains!). Now, when I need a UK hire car, I go out of my way to hire from them.

From the go, Hugo took exceptional care of us at the sign in and car inspection process. As we had booked an EV, he also took us through the differences and what to expect when driving. When returning the car, Hugo was again there to make the process smooth and welcoming. Proper customer service like this is increasingly rare to find and Penny Car Hire has it sorted.

Everything about the experience was excellent - clear instructions beforehand about what documents were needed, very efficient signing in by a friendly and very clearly competent staff member, and then the vehicle provided was exactly what I'd asked for and in virtually new condition with less than 500 miles on the clock. Very good and thorough explanation of the controls, and I was ready to go. The car was a pleasure to drive during the two days (48 hours) booked. The return was managed equally efficiently.

I've been using Penny Car Hire for many years and recommended them to friends, something I am usually weary of doing. However I have no problem in doing so with them. I'm sure they will agree that I'm not the most organised of customers but they have always put up and dealt with me in a very understanding and professional way.

I have been using PCH for over 30 years and have found them to be one of the best car rental companies around I have dealt with Gavin the owner most of the time who always goes above and beyond to help with a large fleet of brand new cars and vans available the company is run to a very high standard fast reliable efficiently run there a busy company so book early

Quality of the vehicle provided was extremely good coupled with great customer service.

I know it looks a bit suspicious having 5 star reviews, but when it comes to hire companies these guys run differently. Very accessible just outside of the train station so no need to get someone to drop you off or pick you up, very courteous, new cars and vans and good prices.

Cars and vans are always in good condition, clean and they don't try to flog you expensive add on insurance or extras like everyone else does. Pick up and drop off is easy.

Only downside is they are very popular so busy periods can get booked up, especially for vans. But for local pick ups etc, £50 a day for a decent sized van (Transit custom) is great value. You wouldn't want to move house with one of these but moving furniture, taking big stuff to the tip, clearing a load of boxes etc they are great

Leaving a review now having just hired a Kia Sportage for the week but have been using PCH for over ten years now (although I understand that they have only just started using Trustpilot recently). We dealt with Hugo this time who was a pleasure to deal with as he was engaged, knowledgeable and friendly. To be fair this has been our experience with whoever we have dealt with but I mention him as this review is primarily for the week just passed (w/c 12/8/24). The cars from PCH (usually Kia) are new, immaculate and easy to drive. Unlike some other car hire firms, PCH are always transparent and clear about any conditions or costs and we have never experienced any hidden / unexpected costs. See you again soon PCH.
