I didn't compare the rate, but a friend of mine and Gemini recommended it to me. The OFX service was very nice, and the response was quick. I am very satisfied with the OFX.

Exercise extreme caution

Exercise extreme caution. I've been unable to track funds being sent between two of my own accounts via OXF, and after sending repeated messages and calling three times I still have not been provided with the SWIFT tracking code to understand (a) where my funds are; and (b) what the hold up is. Now I am being advised by OFX that, given how long this process has taken (as a result of their inability to locate my funds), when they are eventually returned they can re-process the transfer, but at my expense due to FOREX fluctuations in the meantime. I would recommend using another platform.

Incompetent

Incompetent, terrible communication and departments do not seem to speak to each other. I wouldn’t trust them to deliver a sandwich let alone transfer currency. I’ve given them two stars instead of one as the people that I’ve spoken to seem to be trying, but the systems that they have in place are awful. I will note that I used them over 10 years ago when they were called Ozforex and everything was very good at that time and all transfers went off without a hitch. It’s now been two weeks, and I am yet to see a test transfer that was promised let alone my funds. Take your business elsewhere.

Worst experience ever

If I could give no stars I would. Staff were unhelpful and couldn’t handle difficult situations. They couldn’t instruct me on how to send money to my preferred destination, and provided intentional delayed responses when I asked for my money back. The user experience is terrible - the site is not intuitive or helpful at all. It’s not the high standards of self service that customers have become accustomed to. Stick to western union everyone - they know what they are doing.

blocked again account

I opened a business account 10 days ago. They blocked my account without any explanation. When I contacted them by phone, there was no response. Then I sent an email, and they asked me for proof of payment. After that, they unblocked the account, and everything seemed fine. Today, I accessed the account, and it's blocked again. This time, they haven't asked for or informed me of anything. I'm starting to seriously doubt their practices.

Grossly Incompetent

Here we go again....after my first one star review I feel even more frustrated with my dealings with OFX.
Having made follow up calls to the arrogant operators, and email appeals from both me the receiver, and the sender of a monetary transfer. OFX finally indicated a payment was transferred to my bank after more than 2 weeks delay.
It was soon followed by an email claiming the transfer failed and was returned due to my account being dormant, invalid, blocked or closed. I assure readers my account is none of the aforementioned. On checking with my bank they said there was no evidence of any transaction whatsoever.
Anyone reading this i STRONGLY RECOMMEND you seek the services of an alternative transfer system. DO NOT waste your time with this broken circus.
I have tried calling them and waited 11min before I gave up. They have not replied to my emails....DO NOT risk your money with this travesty of ill intent.
I will be sending my review here to CEO Iskandar Malcom.

Highly recommend

The website itself is pretty user friendly, but when dealing with finances, it is extremely comforting to have someone walk you through the process.

I have had a difficult time as I am the heir to my deceased mother overseas and my transfer needs were a bit tricky as an estate was involved.

I emailed and Bernadene called me herself to help out.

She has been absolutely amazing. If she's in the office and I send an email, she responds quickly and efficiently with absolute professionalism.

She has been clear and concise throughout and able to re-explain things if I had trouble understanding.

Highly recommend OFX to anyone needing to transfer funds.

Besides the fact you'll get more "bang for your buck" than using banks, OFX customer support leaves banks miles behind, no matter the country.

I highly recommend OFX

I highly recommend OFX for safe, speedy money transfers. So far, I've had 7 years of excellent service from them. In particular, I experience ongoing exceptional customer service from Bernadene Leuw. I wasted money on 1 expensive bank transfer in 2019, then, thankfully I found OFX and I haven't looked back. Their professional and personable approach makes transferring money easy and stress free.

Be careful with OFX, they lock up your money!

My relatives transferred money to me from Australia to the US. The exchange rate is not good. After the money was transferred to OFX, it was held up, and they requested the documents and took a long time to process the transaction, citing the need to verify the source of the funds.
Why didn't they request this verification clearly and transparently beforehand? Instead, they held the money after I had already transferred it to OFX. When I asked for a refund, they demanded a penalty. I am very disappointed.
