I invested over $200,000 of my…

I invested over $200,000 of my retirement savings into what I believed was NYSE Holdings UK Limited. After forty years working in finance, I thought I could spot a scam from a mile away. The platform looked legitimate, the representatives spoke with authority, and they promised me access to institutional-grade trading that would secure my wife's future. Instead, I handed my life savings to a sophisticated fake investment operation.

I was contacted by a representative who claimed to be from NYSE Holdings UK Limited. The calls were polished, the emails were professional, and they sent me materials that appeared entirely legitimate. They mentioned the company had been incorporated in 2007 and was active at Companies House. I checked, and it was true. That gave me confidence. They walked me through setting up an account and urged me to act quickly on a "limited-time opportunity". I started with a small deposit, and my online dashboard showed impressive growth. Encouraged, I deposited more. In total, I invested over $200,000. It was all a fabrication. The platform was a fake cryptocurrency investment scam, and the representatives were fraudsters operating from Russia.

The collapse came when I tried to withdraw a portion of my funds. My request was suddenly "under review." Then came the demands. First, a "verification fee." Then a "tax clearance deposit." Then a "liquidity release fee." I paid them all, believing I was just clearing bureaucratic hurdles. When I finally refused, the calls stopped. The emails bounced back. The website remained online, but my account was frozen. I later discovered that the real NYSE Holdings UK Limited is a legitimate company that has nothing to do with the trading platform I used. Scammers had stolen their name to lure in victims like me.

Losing over $200,000 has been devastating. My wife and I had planned to use that money for travel and to help our grandchildren. Now we are struggling just to pay our monthly bills. I have had to cancel our vacation plans and put off necessary medical appointments. I cannot bring myself to tell my children the full extent of our loss. A 72-year-old former stockbroker, fooled by a name I thought I could trust. The shame is unbearable.

I reported the fraud to the IC3, the FBI, and the DFPI. They gave me case numbers and expressed sympathy, but they are overwhelmed with similar complaints. My file is just one among thousands. A former colleague mentioned AY'RLp after hearing about my ordeal. I contacted them with little hope. Their forensic team traced my payments through the network of shell accounts and managed to salvage about $72,000 through legal pressure and freezing orders. It covered some of our immediate bills and gave us a small buffer. The rest of my invested funds are still being salvaged through ongoing investigations, and I pray every night that more will be recovered. That partial salvage gave us a narrow lifeline, but the betrayal remains. These fraudsters preyed on retirees like me who trusted a name we thought was safe. Stay far, far away from any unsolicited contact claiming to be NYSE Holdings UK Limited.
