As a coffee nob i am as picky as Austrailian cocaine addict. So i am thrilled to say how exquiste Nofes roasters wholebeans are. Not too floral as that is over powering. Strong enough and tasty enough... See more

This company took the same payment twice by mistake I assume, but now won't answer emails, messages or pick up a phone so I can't talk to them and get a refund

I was to get the parcel delivered to me…
I was to get the parcel delivered to me on 03July before 1257hrs, as per the notification sent to me by Royal Mail. The parcel was delivered at 04July/1230hrs. This is totally unacceptable.
I had placed the order on 29June/ AM.
Had I known better, I would have placed my order elsewhere

I purchased 4 bags of coffe but only 3 bags were delivered. Note got in touch on the same day, issued a refunded and offered 20% off in my next order.
Amazing coffee
Amazing coffee. Delivery slow
Also, I reached out to customer service for help with the “10% discount offer for signing up via email”, still no reply after over two weeks…

Avoid buying beans online from this roaster
Wouldn't bother buying beans from this shop if you expect to receive them any time soon. Ordered on Monday and whilst it is a 48 hour shipping that's only useful if your order is shipped in a reasonable time. 4 days later and it still hasn't been shipped and when you contact customer services there's no response. Might be an ok coffee shop (I've never visited) but I wouldn't recommend buying beans from them. Plenty of other coffee roasters to choose from.
Update - 4th April
Despite being assured a member of the team would get back to me it has been 3 days and nobody has. So if a member of Notes Customer Services do read this message and my subsequent email went to junk as well please cancel the order and process a refund as I’ll take my business elsewhere.
Update - 10th April
A member of customer services wrote back to explain that there was a gas leak at the roastery causing a backlog of orders and they didn’t get round to informing all customers. They processed the refund but also shipped the order as an act of good will which I am appreciative of. The coffees taste great and can’t be faulted. Revising my rating based on how they subsequently handled my complaint.

I was put on your mailing list without asking.
I put one bag of coffee in my basket and subsequently removed it within 5 minutes. However it remains stubbornly in the checkout on shop pay, and I can see no way to remove it.
The whole experience has left me with a bad taste, and I cannot envisage ever ordering from Notes coffee now.
Especially as it took them over a month to respond to this review.....

Blackwall Estate whole beans are perfect!
Blackwall Estate whole beans are perfect for all different types of coffee; with or without milk. Nice and smooth, no bitterness and no overbearing taste, just lovely coffee! I'm now having it as a subscription as I don't want to run out!
First non-ideal experience
We are regular customers and we usually love the coffee we get from the subscription (espresso). However, the last bag (January 2024) was ground far too finely and it was impossible to extract using our machine. This is particularly odd because usually the coffee is ground perfectly for this machine and it was the first time we faced this issue. It's a shame as we are always very excited to taste the notes of the month.
Edit: Notes team was very supportive and proactive in trying to solve our problem! They got in contact with us. I will update again in a few weeks, but as expected, the customer service was very good.

Great tasting coffee delivered when we…
Great tasting coffee delivered when we were advised it would arrive.(5days).
Substandard
Naively assumed that, like other specialty roasters, coffee would be roasted to order to maximise freshness but one of the bags I received (and paid £14 for) was a month old.
Very disappointed. Well below the standard I'd expect. If I wanted old stale coffee I'd go to a supermarket!

Just great coffee
I’ve been buying coffee from Notes for years. In my opinion they really are one of the UK’s leading roasters and their customer service is fantastic.
Lovely coffee quick delivery
Fabulous coffee delivered quickly
appalling customer service faulty capsules
I used to go on a detour to a kiosk down the side of King's Cross Station. No longer there, no idea where they went. The coffee was from Notes, always excellent.
I learnt Notes had a coffee shop nearby. I tried, and again the coffee was excellent.
The last visit April this year, oh how they had gone downhill. Lost their baristas, staff clueless on coffee, served poor quality cappuccino, then tried to impress me with their lack of knowledge. Never a good idea to argue with someone who knows coffee, not unless wish to look a fool.
The pricing of their coffee on the shelves was wrong. Capsules wrongly priced, beans not priced. Then an argument followed when they charged me the wrong price.
I came away with beans and capsules.
The capsules proved to be faulty, of very poor construction. The first capsule I tried jammed the machine, an Opal One. When I checked, every capsule bar two, proved to be faulty, coffee dust everywhere.
Notes were notified of the problem, photos, batch number, to be ignored. A follow up reminder, again ignored.
It is bad enough to be sold faulty products. Made worse by ignoring complaints and failing to rectify.
Appalling customer service, both in the King's Cross coffee shop, and when raise a complaint.
Most recent visit April 2023 en route to the London Coffee Festival, capsules used within the last couple of weeks.
... update ...
I'm disappointed, malfunctioning coffee capsules that jam a machine, fall to bits, not fit for purpose, compounded by shoddy customer service.
Try reading social media. Trus pilot won't let me post here.
I've detailed all you need to know. What I wish to know is what action to recompense?
...update ...
Notes King's Cross when I visited the day before the London Coffee Festival was an awful experience. The coffee was not good, the pricing of beans and capsules was wrong. When I spoke to the manager he argued with me. I contrast with previous visits, when you had excellent female baristas from Latin America, who knew coffee.
The capsules, not a batch problem, poor construction, paper stuck to the base of the capsule.
The coffee, El Tambo Colombian single origin, I had no complaint. I was able to make excellent espresso martini (using top quality vodka).
In social media, I posted @keithpp on twitter.
I am happy to receive more of the El Tambo, but my main concern would be the construction of the capsules (which needs to be redesigned).

I am pleased to hear issues with your King's Cross rogue store have been addressed. I never had this experience before on previous visits.
I raised concerns with the poor quality of the cappuccino I was served, that the pricing of the capsules and beans was wrong. The manager did not want to know, it was as though I was in the wrong for raising. The manager then tried to impress me with his lack of knowledge of coffee. Never a wise move, make yourself look a fool by arguing with someone who knows more than you do about coffee, who later in the year was at the World Coffee Championships in Athens.
The issue with the capsules is not one of deterioration in storage, though that may be a problem. It is one of poor design. The capsules need to be resigned or choose a different manufacturer.
Deterioration in storage will be the least of your problems with these badly designed capsules. Of greater concern, jamming of the machine when the capsule disintegrates in the machine. Instead of bring pierced, the paper back becomes detached. As happened to me, the first capsule I tried, jammed the machine.
Yes, I'm aware coffee is seasonal.
No Colombian, or no El Tambo?
I will e-mail an address for you to supply to. Whilst I'm awaiting to come back in season you may wish to send me alternatives to try.
... update ...
Emptying the box into which the spent capsules are ejected, I found the last two capsules had disintegrated. I'm very lucky had not jammed the machine.
