I ordered 23 Rustic Alder interior doors, prehung and finished. The doors and finishing were excellent. They are solidly built, and every door was true and required no adjustment before setting. None had knots going all the way through the door. The price and lead time both handily beat my local lumberyard. If I could change anything, I wish the stops had not been assembled. I had to adjust several and jamb was not finished beneath them, requiring some touchup.

Good customers service. Process was easy and the door is perfect. Would recommend

Couldn't be happier with the five 6-panel oak doors I recently bought from Nick's. Quality of the doors and pre-hung jambs was excellent. Workmanship and wood grain on all the doors were so perfect they could have all been sanded and stained as is. (I painted mine to match the rest of the house). The holes/cut-outs for latches, knobs, and hinges fit very well. The doors even included a bevel the full length of the lock-side, which I was expecting to have to cut myself. After priming and painting, hung these doors with zero problems. They look great.

I also had a very good experience during the ordering, building, and shipping process. The crate arrived with everything packed very well, zero damage. All in all, I am extremely happy. Wasn't thrilled about the cost of shipping, but well worth every penny.

Ordered a clearance door from Nick's - so it was already built, just leftover from some other order that fell through. It cost just over $2200 with shipping. I waited six weeks to hear from them that the door was not standard size, as it had been described on the website. This is a remodel, and there is no room for raising the header, so that makes this a 6 week dead end. Original person who broke the news to me assured me that they could get me into another option for a similar price. That turned out to be untrue. The door they suggested I consider priced out at over $4200. They offered no discount. I've spent almost $20k with this company over the last few years. That relationship just ended. I look bad with my clients because Nick's can't fulfill their obligations nor communicate in a timely manner. Then they don't own their mistakes.

John and his staff were amazing to work with! John made sure he had the exact dimensions need to build the doors to the exact specs we needed. We will be ordering more doors in the future.

Beautiful product, poor customer service. Reading through the other reviews I wish that we had the same experience as some of the others since their doors are so beautiful. Unfortunately for us we were misinformed throughout the entire process. We started by calling and asking specific questions about additional charges since we had custom sized jambs; quoted $350.00 over the phone, which turned into $400.00 in store (per door). They wouldn't honor the price we were given. Next, good thing I did the legwork and noted everything I found on their website because once we got there I was told they did not have such a door on their website for that price, and tried charging me $900.00 additional dollars, and explained that they have a number of other websites that they didn't use anymore, and that they couldn't honor those sites prices. I calmly had him open their actual functioning website, and navigated him to the page with the door at the price I had. He explained that it was an old price and not updated on their end, but in the long-run honored his advertised price. During our three hour visit to the sales room (he kept leaving the front to answer the phone, talk to co-workers, having to fix mistakes on the paperwork) we were provided with, what I thought was valuable information, production estimates, pick-up details, etc. However, in the time leading up to our doors being completed somehow all of the information that their staff member provided us with was either incorrect, missing an essential detail, or he was entirely dishonest about. Light at the end of the tunnel....!!!...got the call that our doors are ready for pick-up! Spoke to soon...I wanted to make sure and confirm the information I received about the pick-up process before showing up there; to find out that if we wanted our very expensive, very custom doors wrapped/crated that it was $100.00 per door. I very politely explained what we were told that they came that way, and to my surprise the women on the other end started yelling at me. My response during her charade: "excuse me, (pause), why are you yelling at me?" She denied it. I thanked her and said good-bye.
Since this review is quite lengthy I skipped a number of other incidents (mistakes they made on their end). We always try and support independent businesses first, even if it costs a little extra, but customer service, and more so respect for others is an essential element in all business; and for those reasons alone I would NEVER recommend Nick's to ANYONE!!!!

The quality is unmatched. We ordered close to 30 doors and frames. Some of the frames didn't get shipped and after some other back and forth (our installer's new help apparently couldn't use a measuring tape and told us the order wasn't right) with the help of Nicks Building's immaculate record keeping and customer service the frames were on their way and we were able to get our installer back on track.
Every subcontractor and employee we have have commented on the fantastic doors, and these are all people in residential and commercial construction.
I ordered unstained oak doors due to the color theme in the house, I had to wait to see what stain would work, and honestly I just keep putting the staining off they are beautiful the way they are!!

Stunning Door!!! The fit and finish is absolutely perfect. We get compliments from everyone who comes to our house.

Advice....talk to someone knowledgeable before buying. Don't just call and speak to someone who is just there to take your order and knows nothing about any of the doors.

Stay away from the Douglas Fir doors. They looked nice but found out that the door was of very poor quality. I found that out the hard way. When I called Nick's, the initial person I spoke with was very confrontational. She would not listen to any of the problems with the door and blamed me for not properly inspecting the door before taking it out of the crate. How was I supposed to know the glass panes were internally dirty and could not be cleaned. Her demeanor caused things to escalate quickly. Initially this was a 1 star review.

This is now a 4 star review because of Dave S. He and Nick's made this right. He acknowledged the problems with the door I initially purchased. I ended up receiving a credit for the initial purchase and that was put towards a very nice replacement door with Dave's help. He gave some great advice.

The doors are stunning! You really do a beautiful job, they are like artwork. We are glad we stumbled on your company while searching for doors online, we can’t imagine going anywhere else.

Didn't email the receipt when asked even though they charged the invoice, they had to be reminded. Botched delivery and timeline as well. They stated 5 business days to crate the material which seemed excessive, and then it actually took 2 more additional weeks before they shipped. It took a month total to get an order of in-stock trim lumber.

The door is breathtaking. It is quality all the way through. But be patient because it takes a while to get there. Order it with plenty of time.
It came so protected, it took us a while (and quite a bit of work, haha!) to remove the door out of the heavy wood covering.
Please believe them when they say you NEED OTHER PEOPLE THERE (strong guys hopefully) to help you move the door! The delivery company only delivers to the curb. Once it is out of the truck, they leave, and you’re on your own. This is not just Nick’s, it seems to be how it is for most non local door deliveries.

I wish I could give zero stars. Mostly because of the attitude and total lack of customer service. I was lied to constantly about the parts I ordered and the guy I was dealing with clearly couldn't care less about whether I received the items or not. The worst experience I've had with an online business in a very long time!

I ordered 5 exterior doors. Two are glass patio doors and one is a Dutch door.The doors were shipped to Georgia and were delivered in perfect condition. The doors are beautiful and high quality. We are extremely pleased with our purchase!

The door arrived when they said it would and was crated like a tank! Little bit of trouble opening it, but worth it seeing how the door arrived safe and sound. Beautiful high quality door.

I have been slowly remodeling my home over the past 4 years and as a DIYer, I have many questions when it comes to ordering and installing items. Over the course of those 4 years, I have ordered many doors from Nick's and with each order I ask many questions to be sure I am doing everything right. Each and every time the team at Nick's have been patient and walked me thru the process to ensure the end result exceeds my expectations. Their doors are beautiful and made with pride. I challenge anyone to go into any big box store or even custom shop to find doors like these.....the doors you see at those places cost the same if not more than the high quality doors I have received from Nick's. If your in the area, stop in their showroom to see all the customization you can do to create your doors how you envision. You won't be disappointed. I have ordered both pre-hung as well as slabs from them and doors are ready when they promise if not sooner. Thanks guys for always treating this DIYer like a Pro. -Ken K.
