Went to NCT car failed on one high…
Went to NCT car failed on one high beam.
Took it to professionals Atlas car centre to fix.
Took it back failed nct again.
Went back to get it fixed and they said it should of passed it was perfect, but Atlas told when it passes they would return my money fantastic customer services. So fingers crossed it will pass 3rd time.
Also NCT getting alot of bad press lately in the papers.
I think the Staff need to be trained properly
At the NCT to many fails even of stuiped things.
Complete JOKE
Daylight scam artists. Legalised robbery. System should be turned on its head and restructured.
Another failure from Ireland
One person says one thing and it doesn't happen.
System is that if a car can't get nct'd on time that they back date it. So get a NCT pass today and it can be back dated by 1 year and 9 months. So you only have 3 months NCT. Then potentually rock up and pay again the next day and get 2 years and 3 months NCT.
Anywhere that works like this should be shut down. They love to follow the rules when it's in their benefit.
And this is apart from the tests being useless. This coming from an engineer and mechanic POV.
I wish I had seen some of the reviews before booking…
I wish I had seen some of the reviews online and social media before buying the antenatal class for myself and my partner. We booked on in earnest, however, despite their website saying they average 12-14 people on their courses and the groups providing are 'networking opportunities', there were only 3 other couples present! I was so disappointed after the first session because this was not communicated in advance of the course to enable me to make the informed decision to change to a larger course.
Other people in the group also expressed disappointment to me. The lack of communication was disappointing, but what was worse was the response from the complaint's team who just provided the T&Cs without understanding the nuance of the situation - there should have been communication to allow me to say if I was happy attending with just 3 other couples. There were still 2 other courses I could have joined and a courtesy to ask if I'd like (as their website advertises) at least somewhat of an average NCT experience in line with what other people get when they pay.
Whilst I wouldn't have minded at the very least paying the £25 fee and an acknowledgement of this as perhaps a miscommunication, their response leads me to believe this isn't a one-off situation. I was informed by the facilitator that a previous group also had a low group size - so not ideal if you want to build your network of mums. This could have been easily avoided beforehand had they made me aware (when only they had all of the information).
I can't recommend NCT courses for this reason. As a professional (child psychologist), good communication is an integral part of working with people. I work with many families and children/young people (0-25) directly and I run courses too. I wouldn't dream of doing this to paying clients. I won't be recommending NCT to my clients or anyone else and I will be sure to share my experiences with them because of the response that has been given. Instead I wish I had gone with one of the other local antenatal groups I saw advertised beforehand.
Update: This has now been resolved with a little more fairness (albeit at cost to me), so I have updated the review from 1*.
Cahir NCT centre
Cahir NCT centre. Car failed the test first time so got the jobs done and passed second time. My experience with the staff there was excellent, fantastic customer service, professional and friendly. I witnessed the staff dealing with a rude customer and under very trying circumstances they handled the situation in a firm but very fair manner. We Have three vehicles and won’t go anywhere else for nct. Highly recommend cahir nct Centre.
Limerick test centre....
Limerick test centre..... Where to begin.
Complete and utter scam.. told me I needed a CV boot, mechanic looked at it and it's as good as the day it was put on.
These centres need complete reform. Sack the bad eggs with the attitudes and get a decent firm like the AA To step in.
The Carrick-on-Shannon NCT (Leitrim) is 90% tyrants.
The Carrick-on-Shannon NCT centre in Co. Leitrim is by and large a swindling operation.
There's one decent man in there who will inspect your vehicle and give you an honest review - tell you if there is something that actually needs looking at, give the vehicle a fair going over. He's an absolute gent who evidently enjoys and takes pride in his work. The rest are like sharks just waiting to smell blood in the water.
If you're pulling in to the centre with a few minutes to go until your appointment, they might just decide to refuse to let you proceed if your feet aren't inside the door before the clock strikes on the dot of your appointment, even if they weren't at the desk at the time you arrived but observed you pulling in to the carpark and making your way in to the centre. I'm not talking about being late for the appointment, I'm talking about being there exactly on time for it with a queue of people already waiting for their car to be processed ahead of you - it wasn't like they were stuck for things to do or in any way inconvenienced. Pure pettiness and power tripping, not a shred of decency to be found that day.
They seem to live to exercise the small amount of power they have over anyone who has the misfortune of entering the premesis; it's rare you will pass on the first test no matter the condition of your car. This is a well-known fact in the area. They either have a percentage they need to fail to meet a quota or have a burning passion for finding the most insignificant reasons to fail a check so you need to pay for a retest.
Date of experience is not accurate as I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of narrowing down which person might have submitted this review. I frankly wouldn't put it past at least one of them to hold a grudge.
Shout out to the one decent man in there, don't know how you cope with the misery as they other lads genuinely never seem to be happy unless it's at the expense of the vehicle owners.
Very rude customer service . phoned to clarify, what's the reason of having another nct although my previous is 02/23 and my car due again this coming 01/24.My car year is 2018
Very rude customer service provider
Serious need for update to booking system
Absolute joke. Had an appointment for 10.35, arrived at 10.20 to a waiting area with 5 others and no car being inspected! Must be on break! I understand people need a break but does everyone need to go at the same time?? My car eventually went in to test at 11 o clock.. 8 in waiting area at this stage!! Very poorly run system
Tuam NCT Centre: depressing
Attended for NCT in Tuam. What a depressing place and a depressing experience. It was so gloomy and bleak it reminded me of a funeral home and I almost expected a coffin to be placed in the middle of the waiting room. Would it be too much to expect a few amenities such as a coffee machine, a working TV, a water dispenser and anything else that might make the place more appealing?
Incompetent
Incompetent, and unqualified "mechanics". Advisory on brake pads that have 60-70% left. Haven't a clue what they are at, absolute shambles of a system. NCT means jack s**t nowadays...
The NCT does pick up dangerous items
To be fair the NCT did pick up on two dangerous tyres that I have had today and happily replaced, my first tester was a little irksome, and couldn’t answer how come they weren’t picked up last year, however once I popped back with the replaced tyres, I met the aforementioned Jumar, who had a lovely chatty personality and asked how much I spent, and asked about the car, it’s a classic car, and so made up for the difference with my earlier interaction, I also must make mention of the lovely girl in the reception too
Held to Ransom
I normally have no issue with NCT testing but today I was refused a re-test if I did not pay a cancellation fee first. This cancellation fee is not mine and was applied to my account by mistake. So it cost me €65 for a €28 re- test through no fault of my own. Now I have to call customer service tomorrow to try and get my money back.!!!!!
Dirt bags going cashless
Thank you Jumar
When I went to the nct centre in northpoint, a gentleman called, Jumar, was so professional and helpful. Jumar also made my day so much easier as well because when he was I had my three kids with me, he acted very quickly and made my children laugh. Jumar didn't have to do any of this but clearly its within his nature to be extremely kind and helpful. Thank you Jumar.
Not Very helpful staff
Was booked in for 4.15 pm
I arrived 330pn ..was told that there's a change of shift so I have to wait despite the center being quiet and the counter staff having a laugh amongst themselves.Had I known the time allocated was shift based when booking it might have helped me
Basic Consistency? No way!
Deansgrange today. Car failed on 6 'serious structural' corrosion items after the Eastern European lad went bonkers with a block of wood / screwdriver in the rear wheelarches. People in the viewing area were commenting on it, and I walked over and stared at him, at which point he stopped. Problem is, I'd sprayed on 'Stone chip' as I do. He obviously thought "This guy is trying to hide something and I'm going to find it no matter what!" Most cars over 10 years old would show some failure with the type of whacking he was doing. Last July I asked the tester "What's underneath like?" He replied "Fine". Go figure. This thing is a disgrace.
I am writing this review of the NCT…
I am writing this review of the NCT centre in longford. I had a nct on 1/6/23 I couldn’t be more complimentary they were excellent, helpful and very polite. I want to single out Philip for special mention as he was so helpful and very friendly he is a great ambassador for the NCT
NCT at Cahir
NCT at Cahir. At the check in a man whose overalls were inscribed "Team Leader" was simply in need of some profound 'customer care' training. Offhand and surly to the point of rudeness. The mechanic who did the test was charming and helpful. But only one star because of the unpleasant and discourteous check in.
Disgraceful behaviour from staff
Had nct today on my car in limerick centre was 10 mins late due to checkpoints when I arrived at the centre, I tried to explain why i was 10 mins late 1 man was behind desk another was vaping and another was walking around doing nothing I was told to leave as I was 10 mins late they wouldn't listen to me so was removed from centre its a disgrace the way I was spoken to and treated all because I was late beyond my control. Would nit recommend this test centre 1 star for sure.
I had a lovely experience at Northpoint…
I had a lovely experience at Northpoint Business Park. I had my appointment at 7.15am and by 7.35am my car was returned to me.Thank you to all staff in there. Isabella
