AVOID!
AVOID!! Here is my complaint letter to which I had no reply from their directors which was emailed and posted.
23rd April 2026
For the attention of Julian Grenfell King and Christopher James Louden (Directors)
Dear Mr King and Mr Louden
I am a 70 year old women and I am writing to you regarding your company National Homebuyers to express my dissatisfaction.
In September 2025 I was given your company to contact for purchase of my flat and initially agreed £90k and after you did your survey you came back with a lower offer of £83k which I reluctantly accepted and solicitors were instructed.
Since then I have been led to believe by your staff firstly, Victoria and then Elizabeth that the sale was all going through, with enquiries being dealt with through solicitors.
.
I had a phone call from Elizabeth 2 weeks ago to say that all enquiries were now received and dates for exchange would follow. This was also confirmed to the estate agent who I was purchasing from a property to move into.
A further call to confirm that Exchange would be possible on the 17th April but your underwriters were now offering a much lower amount than the agreed price of £83k of half!
Why has this taken you nearly 7 months to advise me of this outcome, which I cannot accept. Not only have I now lost my purchase but the poor family that I was buying from who has waited all this time, has now lost their new purchase. This has cost me £3000.00 in legal fees and all the enquiries your solicitor has made has also cost me £60 each time, not to mention the time and costs for the vendors of my purchase.
I can see from Trust pilot that this is typical practice for your company and I would question – Is this a scam? Considering what you advertise on your website it is certainly not been my experience.
Clearly your solicitor must be part of this scam as she has not replied to my solicitor’s email of the 14th April and we are still waiting.
Therefore, will you have the decency to honour your offer of £83K and contribute towards my legal costs as agreed. I sent a sample of emails which clearly demonstrates you made this offer which I accepted in good faith.
I look forward to hearing from you and I hope this will not result in another negative comment for you on Trust pilot, the media and my local MP.
THESE COMPANIES SHOULD BE CALLED TO TASK AND REGULATED
UPDATE FOLLOWING RESPONSE TO NH.
1. My review was reviewed by trustpilot as NH said it was defamatory and tried to get it removed.
2. Still no reply to my complaint. And why wait 7 months to tell me they don't buy retirement homes and never addressed why they pulled out 2 days before exchange.
3. Why are you lisa evans still writing to Corbett court in Sussex near to your offices saying you will buy these retirement homes!!
So today 2nd sept 2026 I get this email.....considering my original review unbelievable!
If you're still interested..

Good Morning,
You previously contacted us regarding the sale of your property. If you are still looking to sell then we would be very interested in making you a new cash offer to purchase and can hopefully achieve the price you require, at a timescale that suits you.
We will also contribute up to £1,000 towards your legal fees.
We have substantial cash funds available, so our offer is not dependant on third parties or lengthy chains.
I would be grateful if you could call me as soon as possible to discuss this further on my direct line 01444 259499 or email me directly on: ruth.roberts
I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks,
Ruth Roberts

Never again!
Our Estate agent valued our flat at £450k, National Homebuyers initially came back with an offer of £360k which we accepted. After a few weeks the offer dropped to £340k, we accepted that.
We knew the company would offer a lower price - we expected that but hoped for a quick sale. After 4 months we felt very disillusioned, there were constant weekly questions firing in from their solicitor - they were never all in one go...drip drip all adding to delays. All costing us extra money with our solicitor. Finally we begin to think they were really not serious. We had answered every question and we asked if they were really a serious buyer. Eventually, they came back with an offer of £255k! Clearly we would never accept that, we were left thinking that they were really not a serious buyer from the start and should have told us so sooner.
The customer facing staff like Victoria were helpful enough but that does not compensate for the £1.5k we had to pay our solicitor for their wasted time.
We felt it was a huge mistake and caused us a lot of hassle and angst. Never again!

We have worked with National Homebuyers…
We have worked with National Homebuyers for several years, providing independent RICS valuation reports as part of their property acquisition process.
Our dealings with the team have always been professional, efficient and straightforward. Elizabeth and Victoria are both excellent to work with, being very responsive, approachable and clear in their communication.
We are pleased to support National Homebuyers as part of their wider property process and look forward to seeing their continued growth.

Six weeks of my life wasted!
I wish I had paid more attention to the entry on Google which read "is National Homebuyers a scam" when I started considering a sale to them.
By the way, I don’t think it is a “scam”, but I do feel as if I have just wasted 6 weeks of my life with these people as they performed what seems to be their all too familiar "death by a thousand cuts" routine!
I saw an advert promoting their services on the 15th March so sent them a message, having previously had my apartment in N Cornwall valued by three agents in the town at "£225,000 for a sale within 4 weeks".
I relayed this to National Homebuyers who, after contacting one of those agents, came back the following day with an offer of £170,000. This was a little on the low side but, given that they were promising to "buy any house within 7 days", I decided to accept.
At that point, National Homebuyers said they needed to do a little more "due diligence" meaning, as I understand it, that they were going to speak to a few more agents, after which they came back two weeks later and "revised" their offer to £154,000!
By now, it was getting a little "tedious" but despite that - and very much against my better judgment - I said I would accept that offer ... but no less.
At this point, they said a surveyor would be instructed. The surveyor took a further three weeks to appear, visiting the property on the 21st April.
Another week passed by and I had heard nothing, so I emailed them. "Ah, the survey has been done, but we haven't heard back from the underwriters" I was told.
A further couple of days elapsed and I had a phone call from Elizabeth who, having now heard back from the underwriters, asked if I would be open to a further reduction, this time to "around £120,000".
My first reaction was that I thought I had misheard her but, as I was driving at the time, I asked her to put their offer on an email.
This she did, but when the offer came through, it was for £102,000, nearly 50% less that where we all started and 40% less than the figure they first offered.
I am sure that if one was looking to sell a bog-standard bungalow in the West Sussex area where they are based, they might be useful if one had no other options.
However, I honestly believe that they were a little out of their depth, trying to deal with a property over 250 miles away in an area that they didn't know - their words, not mine!
At the end of the day, I felt that a comment on the Martin Lewis Money site summed them perfectly ...... "They prey on people who are desperate for a quick cash sale".
Just approach with your eyes wide open!!
