Unresponsive client service puts taxpayer at risk
Myexpattaxes made a wrong statement on my tax filing last year due to my complex situation - which was easily fixed, it was a matter of changing one box. The same mistake was done again this year and I have been unable to get an answer to correct the mistake this time around. I have been waiting for the past month to get an answer and the deadline and potential penalty are looming. Of course, all of this after having paid. This is a terrible client service. By way of comparison, Expatfile has easy to reach live chat available. Avoid!

Overpriced, uses dark patterns
As with several of these sites they don't talk about cost until you've sunk 2 hours into filling the forms. Then you get hit with a minimum $115 fee. Very dishonest.

Great software and personal expert service
The software is well laid-out. It explains situations that may be confusing. Nathalie and her staff then review the forms, catch any mistakes, and give helpful advice. They're experts on the tricky subjects that are way over my head. I've used their services every year since 2020 and will keep doing so!

Awful experience
Awful experience. Absolutely horrifying. They did my taxes for three years, however after 3 years my state informed me that MyExpatTaxes had only been partially e-filing my state taxes, resulting in $24,000 in penalty and interests. After MyExpatTaxes tried to fix the issue, they amended my state tax and inserted yet more errors. After repeatedly asking MyExpatTaxes to resolve the issue and reimburse me for the penalty and interest that was a result of their errors, their COO Markus Finster reached out to me explaining how he was sure what they were doing was correct. So, I called my state to check on the amendments. That is when I realized Mr. Finster was actually wrong again. He is now ghosting me and not responding to my emails.
MyExpatTaxes says they guarantee accuracy. So, it is reasonable for us to assume they take responsibility when they make mistakes. Unfortuantely they are not taking responsibility for their repeated errors.
If you are okay with losing thousands of dollars go ahead and do your taxes with them.
I will update this if they ever take responsibility and pay me the penalty and interests.
