TERRIBLE (what they call customer service) 3 weeks and no call back from anyone in records. Call center is useless. Have spent over 4 hours being tossed back and forth with everyone passing the buck. Still no resolution. Will be filing a complaint with Banking Commission. DO NOT USE!

9/26 I opened my account, and nothing looks wrong. There was no hint I needed further action or documents.
9/29 I received a DocuSign email, filled it and scanned my ID online.
10/2 I still cannot fund the account, all my deposits have been reversed. M&T csr says "it's still under review that's why it's frozen. You can wait until Thursday to call back."
10/4 My two savings accounts that I used to fund the M&T account both got reversed and frozen (that I have to call each to resolve it). I called M&T again asking if I could close the account and delete everything I had with them. Their rep told me I cannot do anything unless I go to a branch. The closest branch is 30min away and only open 9 to 4.
10/7 Called 3rd time. After 3 phone holds and transfers to 'another department', they told me the account ban has been lifted on 10/5 but I have to "call another fraud department to lift the online client ban". Here we go again on the 4th call.
M&T is the biggest joke I ever knew.

Long-time customer: Shame on M&T Bank for having no option to add account notifications for their BANK accounts and only having the option to do this for ZELLE. I received a bank overdraft fee because I forgot to transfer funds in a timely manner. My bad. But I was too busy to look to see why I had not received a low balance notification etc as I ALWAYS set these up for ALL of my accounts including credit cards etc. I was surprised and severely disappointed to find that you cannot set up any notifications for business checking accounts AT ALL. Only Zelle transactions which I do very infrequently. This is clearly a money-grab to ensure more overdraft fees and other fees. SHAME on you M&T!

After 12 years of service if I could give a zero today absolutely it would be a zero. The most disappointing customer service I have ever received Run as fast as you can because your money is their money, Your checking account gets hacked. Say goodbye cuz they're going to do it too.

What an awful bank. Have had nothing but problems and for what? Security feature loves to lock me out 24/7 and the fact that they made me wait an extra day after the holiday for my funds to be available to me… nope. Don’t sign yourself up to here everyone.

Purchased RV through Camping world.Never again.Credit score 826 and they told me my interest rate would run around 2-3%. It's 4.99...The bank Twice I have seen the loan numbers balances manipulated.balance. Recently 19k to 20K. I am online almost daily...I print and screenshot everything.They do not break down some of the loans after payments are made.They wait for following month and post two at a time. I have message them twice on this issue.I do not trust this bank and will never use them again.I will hire an accountant to go over every invoice. I have everyone of them
Should be criminal what they put customers through
Don’t even consider M&T bank. You absolutely CANNOT trust them with your money! I attempted to send a Zelle payment (an app that M&T gave me with my account. It’s connected right to my account so it wasn’t anything I had to download. They blocked the payment then put a fraud hold on my account. This was 4 days ago now. I called the day they placed the hold and was 1st told that I had “a legal hold” I am a paralegal and the true meaning of a legal hold would be a freeze of the account by a creditor you owe money to. I knew that wasn’t possible as they would have to have a judgment and I don’t even have any accounts in collections. They refused to tell me who the hold was from or give me any further info. I had just received my tax refund of 6k 2 days prior to this so I had a literal panic attack. I was blocked from my online banking and branches were closed. I called again after I noticed an email from the fraud department regarding my Zelle. A fraud hold made much more sense to me. The 2nd agent I spoke with confirmed it was infact a fraud hold not a legal hold. I confirmed the transaction was me. I was told they can’t remove the block as they have to come their “investigation” I’ve been told the same absurd story for the past 4 days. What investigation?!! They denied my Zelle, I called and verified there is no fraud, any other bank end of story. Not M&T! 4 days, no access to my funds, I advised my daughter needs her asthma medication and I need the hold off and they refused. My car insurance has been canceled as I couldn’t pay it due to this, they have not reached out to me one time and they let this go into and all through the weekend so I couldn’t go to a branch. To say I’m irate at this point would be severely understated. I am finally going today to speak to the branch manager and I will absolutely not leave without every cent of my money and my account closed. This to me is harassment. It has caused extreme anxiety, stress and financial hardship. All for using an app they gave me. Verifying it was me should have been all they needed to release the hold. I’ve received no answers or details from anyone. Worst bank in existence!
Update-went to branch today, I was told they don’t know why my account is on hold and it’s probably the Zelle but they cannot release my funds, they don’t have an answer, they don’t know when they will have an answer and they don’t know when my money will be released. I am disgusted these companies get away with this! It’s a simple fraud hold and they are now on day 5 holding thousands of my dollar and “they don’t know when I’ll get it”??!! Like I said, CRIMINALS
M&T Bank Refuses to Pay Out Bonuses
I opened an account with M&t Bank on April 8th, 2024 through the "TE" promotion. I met the requirements and I didn't receive the promotion as advertised. Get $400 by having a direct deposit of $1000 or more within 90 days of account opening, which I had multiple into the account. I have contacted this bank and they refuse to honor my bonus and pay me out according to their own terms. This bank is a fraudulent scammer. Do not under any circumstance bank with this company. They make it very hard to even open an account or link another bank to this one so that you can transfer money into it. Then after they have you jumping through hoops for months, they wont even honor their own terms and pay out their bonus. Under ANY circumstance do not trust this bank at all. You have been WARNED.
Bank in Manchester is terrible
Bank in Manchester is terrible. The tellets take all day doing the simplest tasks. They snoop around your account information being nosey when you're simply making a deposit. They have lengthy conversations with customers when there is a line. They are invasive and I don't feel safe with these tellers taking extensive browsing times just to make an easy deposit of cash. As if I'm up to something. Seems suspect. I use the ATM, but sometimes a bill will get rejected and I dread having to go inside and deal with these slow as molasses tellers.

Worst bank ever. Stay away. They closed my account with no warning and for no reason. I am a military veteran and they even captured my last direct deposit without any logical explanation. They treat customers with distain and arrogance.

This app has been the worst app I've ever used.
I switched to M&T mortgage and checking two years ago and have had issues since day one. The app never loads until possibly the 10-12th time you've made the attempt. Had I known I would always have this much trouble trying to look at my transactions or make quick transfers, I would never have moved my accounts to them.

The customer service here is horrible. They do not set their representatives up for success. I needed help with my escrow balance and understanding and the woman told me sorry I don’t have access to that so I can’t help you. She told me she can’t access the m&t bank dashboard at all - what are these representatives for if they can’t tell me where to find something? Such a waste of time and so frustrated when I am trying to be educated and understand my mortgage payments. Very disappointed in you M&T.

I went to the Supermarket on yesterday used a M&T Bank ATM for withdrawal of $90.00 to pay my bill. When I put my card in a minute later the ATM machine malfunctioned gave me my bank card back. The money didn't give me my $90.00 or a receipt.I attempted to do the transaction again and was informed by the M&T Bank ATM machine I didn't have the funds which was incorrect.The M&T Bank ATM withdrawal machine stole my $90.00. I called a phone number on the M&T Bank withdrawal machine about the situation. I was informed to go into a local branch of M&T Bank. When I went inside the M&T Bank . They gave me a (Dispute Confirmation Summary )and told me. They didn't know when I was going to get my money back or if I was going to get it back from M&T Bank. I can't pay my bill now. I am currently considering leaving the company called M&T bank and going to another bank if I do not get my money back.

This bank is THE WORST I have ever dealt with. I have been waiting on an overpayment refund check for weeks. I have reached out to them several times a week to get information on where my money is. I was assured the check had been mailed out on the date given to the PO Box provided, but I advised I still had not received it. Today I contacted them again and was told that the check was mailed to a physical address and not the address that I provided, not once, not twice, but every time I called. So now I asked that they overnight the check to me as I will be traveling for the next several months. I was told that I could have it overnighted but that I would have to provide a credit card and pay the fee for it. When I told M&T Bank that it was their mistake and if they had mailed it where I had stated, I would have it by now. I was told, "Tough, too bad, we are not paying for it. The check will go out in regular snail mail to the PO Box." WOW! They have caused me all these issues and now can't even step up to the plate to make a customer happy. Some customer service they have!

M & T was running a special that if you…
M & T was running a special that if you deposit a certain amount and make some many transfers in a certain period of time, you get cash deposited to your account. Nothing that other banks have not run. Our problem began when we went to the branch to open the accounts. The branch was unaware of the special, which is not unusual. What was unusual was us convincing tge branch the special existed. After referring them to the M&T website, they reluctantly agreed and opened tge accounts. Important to mention that the branch people were nice.
Unfortunately, when we got home to open online account, we discovered my wife's name was misspelled on branch paperwork and I got no paperwork, just a copy of my wife's work. So, we returned to the branch to fix the errors. No big deal. We were not upset. The branch apologized and Errors corrected, we went home.
My wife successfully opened her online account and attempted to transfer funds from another bank, but online message indicated to call fraud dept, which apparently is M&T SOP when first attempting to transfer funds. Then I tried the same process with coaching from my wife online, since she is the "techy" and not I and
the fraud dept would not verify my ID because my wife was on phone with me and told me to go to a branch and hung up on me. I thought it must be a mistake. I called back and hung up on me a 2nd time.
For a 3rd time we had to return to the branch. Needless to say we were not happy. Unfortunately, the branch did not appear to be happy to see us either. After much consternation and conference call with fraud dept and multiple questions, we were told in 20 minutes our account would be unlocked.
Went home and account was still locked. After multiple phone calls, we were finally able to unlock account, change passcode and transfer money. Total time spent in branch or on phone to deposit money in M&T bank 4 HOURS. The branch people were nice and apologetic. Our problem was with the rudeness of the fraud dept. Worst and most painful bank experience ever.
They suck
They suck. I thought they were nice. C they won't release my money. They claim they are investigating. That's ridiculous. I'm suing. The check is for 606. The branch us useless. Because of them I can't pay my bills. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM
