I ordered several chairs from Marcel Olsen. All chairs were defective: screws went straight through the wood, the wood cracked, and the chairs are unstable. Proper assembly is technically impossible because the screw length and the drilling depth do not match.
Instead of acknowledging an obvious manufacturing or design defect, the seller simply blames the customer. Returns or replacements were refused. The assembly instructions do not specify any torque or tightening force, yet a “user assembly error” is claimed.
Poor quality, no accountability, and disappointing customer service.
I strongly advise against purchasing from this company.

CS not willing to replace sub-standard products
I ordered 2 Chiva Rattan dining chairs from Marcel Olsen and I have to say, this was quite a disappointing experience. In general, there are some irregularities to rattan products and therefore the products themselves don't come in "perfect" condition, however, I was shocked to see frayed edges, dirty scrap of fabric used on the underside ( below the seat), scratches and shoddy varnishing. This is unacceptable, as on their website they state "Every item from Marcel Olsen undergoes strict checks" and that clearly that has not been done. I've highlighted these issues to customer service to get a replacement product however all I receive are dismissive responses...a very poor experience all round!

Outlet chairs with significant defects and poor return policy
We ordered four outlet chairs from this webshop, described as possibly having “minor marks or imperfections.” However, no specific information or images were available at the time of purchase. Upon delivery, all four chairs showed visible damage of scratches up to 20 cm and staining errors on all panels, which in our view exceeds what most customers would reasonably consider “minor.”
When we requested a return under the 14-day right of withdrawal (EU Directive 2011/83/EU), we were informed that returns are not accepted under their outlet policy, and that shipping costs would be fully at our expense. We believe this interpretation does not align with EU legislation, as the right of withdrawal generally applies to discounted or outlet items as well, unless specifically exempted — which was not the case here.
We also believe that the chairs do not meet the expected conformity with the contract as defined in EU Directive 2019/771, since the condition was not clearly disclosed. The seller has offered to send one replacement chair, but we feel this does not fully address the situation.
We have communicated our concerns and proposed reasonable solutions. If no agreement is reached, we intend to submit the case to the European Consumer Centre (ECC) for further assistance.
We are sharing our experience to inform other customers, especially those considering outlet purchases without clear product visuals or details.

We’re sorry to hear you're disappointed. The chairs you purchased were clearly listed as outlet items, described as having “minor marks or imperfections,” and priced accordingly. While outlet items may not include detailed photos of each imperfection, the listing made the condition and pricing rationale transparent.
You were offered a replacement seat and the option to return the chairs at your own cost, but chose not to pursue either. While we always aim for customer satisfaction, we do not believe a 50% refund is reasonable in this case, especially given the condition was clearly disclosed and the chairs were already heavily discounted.
We appreciate your feedback and our team remains happy to assist with fair and practical resolutions in line with EU regulations.
