Currently we are quite disappointed with the operation. We work, have teams that struggle 24 hours a day to finally receive a refusal of payment. We currently deliver several services this free of charge. Is it normal?
I will not work with you moving forward until you explain to me why I am paying you for no support and a platform that does not work

My experience with Malt has been nothing short of disappointing. From the beginning, I was met with unprofessionalism and a lack of respect for freelancers. After my contract was unexpectedly terminated, I was due to receive both my final payment and notice pay. Despite sending numerous emails and messages, I was consistently ignored.
The worst part of this experience involved one of the Malt consultants , who misinformed me from the start and failed to inform me about critical contract details that ultimately cost me four weeks of notice pay. Despite reaching out repeatedly via email and text, I received no responses, aside from a flimsy excuse that her phone wasn’t working.
When I did finally get a reply from someone at Malt, I was promised payment on the 28th of October, only to find out from Moorepay that the actual payday was the 31st. This dishonesty and lack of communication are entirely unacceptable. As a single parent in the hospital for over two weeks, this has added unnecessary stress to my life.
I cannot recommend Malt to anyone. My experience has been one of false promises, disrespect, and complete disregard for freelancers’ rights. If you’re considering working with them, think twice—they’ve been nothing but unprofessional and unreliable.

Hello fellow freelancers, my name is Salvatore. I’ve been a social media strategist for 10 years and have been a freelancer on Malt for many years, even achieving Super Malter status.
I want to share my negative experience with Malt to protect others and help make sure what happened to me doesn't happen to you. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
On August 14th, I received a notification from Malt saying that my profile was matched with a Meta ads management project. It was right in my area of expertise, so I was quite excited. I reached out to the “client” via the Malt chat, and he told me I was exactly the kind of professional he was looking for. He asked for my email to give me access to his platform so I could evaluate his situation. Unfortunately, the link he sent me was fraudulent, and he ended up hacking into my professional Meta accounts, spending several thousand euros on my clients' ad accounts. Of course, I had to cover these charges myself, as I was the one who clicked the link, and my clients were in no way at fault.
I immediately contacted Malt to report the scammer, as I suspected he was attempting to scam others with the same fake project. Since it was during a holiday weekend in France, I didn’t hear back from Malt until August 16th, two days later, which gave the hacker plenty of time to potentially scam other freelancers.
The response I received from Dounia at Malt was deeply disappointing. She stated: "In recent days, we have detected attempts of phishing related to Meta Business Manager. These fraudulent emails or messages aim to recover your Meta login details via a fake link. To protect our community, our security team moderates users responsible for such incidents."
In short, Malt was aware of a spike in phishing attempts targeting professionals in my field but did not see fit to warn freelancers—neither by displaying an alert on their website nor by sending a direct email. They could have, at the very least, notified freelancers who work specifically with Meta.
I received no meaningful assistance from Malt. They could have offered guidance on how to handle the situation with Meta, referred me to a lawyer, or connected me with a technician to secure my accounts, but none of that happened. For a platform that prides itself on "creating a space where you can thrive, personally and professionally.," it would be nice if they took measures to prevent scammers from destroying a freelancer’s business.
Since this unfortunate experience, I have continued to be matched with scam profiles, which I report diligently, but Malt still allows them to remain on the platform. Just yesterday, I reported a suspicious job listing through the Malt help center. Axel from Malt thanked me for reporting it and assured me that the profile had been suspended and the listing removed. However, as of today, the listing is still active in my project feed.
Malt requires us freelancers to submit numerous official documents (e.g., compliance certificates, business documents). Meanwhile, it appears that any scammer can easily create a project and scam others without any verification. I believe Malt should implement a thorough document verification process before allowing anyone to post a job.
It’s time for Malt to wake up and put in place a robust security system to protect the core of their platform: the freelancers. Malt, if you’re short on time, consider hiring people who would be more than happy to help you with this.
Thank you,
Salvatore

I have been signed up for almost a year but no contact at all from anyone. Was not sure how legit this company is but it seams it is quite legit.
Fingers crossed now.

Paul helped us in setting up a social media strategy and we’re very happy with the exhaustive outcome: we’ve got concrete guidelines, and concrete examples to follow when we start posting. Paul was very pedagogic in his approach (a must considering we have been pretty non existent on social media so far). He also showed keen interest in our business which led to the creation of an on-point strategy.

UPDATE:
I am pleased to update that Malt has processed my payment early. This timely action has made a significant difference during this very challenging time for me, and I truly appreciate their prompt assistance.
Thank you, Malt, for your understanding and support. Your responsiveness in this situation has been greatly appreciated.

I am very disappointed with the lack of communication and support from Malt regarding my urgent financial situation. Despite sending seven emails over the past two weeks, I still haven't received a clear answer. The only response I got was a generic message that my payment would be processed this week, which I already knew.
I'm currently facing the threat of eviction, and timely access to my funds is critical. 2 years ago, YunoJuno responded promptly and compassionately to a similar request, providing the help I needed without delay. I had hoped for the same level of support from Malt, but this has not been the case.
I understand that procedures are in place, but given the urgency of my situation, a bit of empathy and timely communication would go a long way.

I never got paid!
My client exclusively uses Malt.com, and they are based in Lille. While Malt takes a cut of any payments sent to me, they got my US payment details wrong. As a result, the money they sent never arrived in my Bank of America account.
The payment is now stuck with a third-party provider, Mangopay, who have been utterly incompetent in retrieving my funds. It’s been a nightmare.
I find myself caught between my client, Malt, Mangopay, BNP Paribas (the sender), and my US bank (BoA), yet I still haven't received any money.
I've had to send over 50 emails and make numerous calls to chase down the payment, but to no avail.
I strongly advise against using Malt.

This platform is a hassle to navigate through. My client forced me to go through them, thinking it was going to be easier than having to deal with their accounting department directly. Neither they or I knew how to establish quotes, invoices, etc, and I had to attend a "training session" with someone from the platform.. it says a lot.
Then, surprise..! You have to pay a 2% fee on whatever you make, to receive your money "faster". Free-lancing is already difficult enough and precarious enough no to have to give away 2%, in my opinion. Knowing that the companies/clients are already paying to use their services, so double win for them, I guess.
Months later, I have finish my missions, still haven't received any money from them.. We are now 1 month late from my first payement due date... I keep on asking for help, they are totally ghosting me. No service was provided then, no support is provided now. Totally useless and dysfunctional, no need to mention the lack of respect and lack of professionalism.
I absolutely don't recommend using this platform if you want to get paid on time, or at all.

as a South African we do not require some of the documents Malt requires. And hence payment was delayed for over 4 weeks. This put our cash flow under sever pressure.

Joined via the UK page over a year ago. After the very concerning amount of data they require (ID photo, bank account, page of HMRC taxes and and and, I got no jobs through the site. I think there were only two that even matched my occupation. Even deleting my account was a hassle. Definitely not recommended.

I delivered the project 4 months ago, and the money didn't come until now, I was supposed to get paid in 5 business days but now 4 months passed and my payment didn't arrive yet.I sent many emails to follow up but someone from support replies and then vanishes, the other day someone else is replying in the same way without any solution. When I want to speak to a supevisor, noone replies. I am really tired and upset.

I've just got my first job via Malt and I'm really happy. 10% service fee is a bit steep but I had my first contact with customer service today (warning about a possible scam) and I got a quick and detailed response from a human being in less than 24 hours which addressed my doubts and gave me a positive solution (it wasn't a scam, I was being paranoid!). So far, it's been one of my best experiences of an online platform for freelancers. Thanks to Hector for your help.
