My wife and I engaged Magical Private Travel (“MPT”) to manage our recent 18-day trip to Spain and Portugal. We worked closely with Dan, the Founder of MPT, as well as Rachel, the Senior Travel Specialist and a Partner. Both Dan and Rachel were great to work with!

I have always planned our trips on my own and am quite detailed and meticulous when building our itineraries. For this trip I decided it was time to “retire” from trip planning even though I was a little nervous turning the planning and execution over to someone else.
We could not have found a better company to handle our trip! Dan and Rachel initially spent time learning our interests and preferences. During the itinerary planning and design they were very good listeners, timely, patient with the large volume of my questions and revision requests and the end-product was everything we hoped it would be.

As far as the tour itself, the itinerary was perfect. The excursions were fantastic, consistent with our interests and with durations that allowed the right amount of time to relax a bit. The tour guides for our excursions were all top-notch – 5 stars across the board. It is clear that MPT has done its due diligence in building a great team of guides. The hotels were all very nice with breakfast included. Our logistics included 2 high-speed train transfers with the remainder being vehicle transfers. All of the transportation activities were timely with very nice trains/vehicles and the drivers were all professional and safe drivers.

One option they offer that we really appreciated was their all-inclusive logistics service. This included both departure and arrival baggage handling at both airports and train stations as well as a service person who guided us through both airports (including walking through the passport and security processes) and train stations.
If you are interested in a high quality private tour you cannot go wrong picking MPT to build your dream trip!!!

What an amazing Andalusian adventure that Dan, Rachel & their team put together for our little traveling troupe of four! We told them what we were looking for and voila, they made it happen! Starting with drivers to pick us up at the airport or move us from town to town while we enjoyed the scenery. Private tours with extremely knowledgeable guides. Beautiful hotels with storied pasts. Our private cooking class in Seville w/Amelia & Carmen that we didn't want to end & we're still talking about. Only to be followed by a meetup with Dan where he took us on a mini-tour of some of his favorite places near our hotel in Seville. A totally one of a kind afternoon tour, wine tasting and lunch with Flavio (the owner) at the convent/winery was so much fun and beyond our expectations! Not to mention all the dinner reservations Rachel made in advance which just made it so much easier on us after a day of touring - and all great choices. The icing on the cake was meeting up with Dan in Seville and having him show us some of his favorite places near our hotel. My husband and I recently traveled with another couple on a wonderful 12-day private journey through Morocco with Dan & Rachel of Magical Private Travel. Our trip was very smooth, organized from start to finish, excellent guides, comfortable transfers, luxury hotels in good locations, well chosen experiences, and all the details handled.

We loved the many different sides of Morocco, including Casablanca, the coast, Berber villages, desert landscapes, Ouarzazate, the Atlas Mountains, Marrakech, and Essaouira. Every place felt different and memorable.

Looking back the airport fast-track assistance and luggage support, made a big difference for us since we have some mobility limitations. We also really appreciated the suggestion and planning of a winery visit. We did not even know that was an option in Morocco, and it turned out to be a wonderful treat and one of the special surprises of the trip.

The guides and drivers were professional, kind, knowledgeable, and very helpful. We felt well cared for throughout the journey, which allowed us to simply enjoy the experience.

We had a great tour with Anna of the Prada museum. As a novice to art museums, she gave us great context for the art work and allowed us to really understand Spanish art in just a few hours. In addition to being an art expert, she was also great in helping us avoid the crowds and use our (limited) time very efficiently
Marta was our guide for your of Toledo. She new the area well and helped the geography, architecture, and cultural significance of Toledo. We had a great experience.

Our trip to Portugal was planned and carried out beautifully using this company. Carlos was our guide for the week and he was friendly, knowledgable and fun! He was also incredibly adaptable when necessary. Our tour included personal experiences I could have never planned by myself. I hope to use this tour company many more times in the future!

Hit pretty much the whole country, getting a great feel for the people, the customs, the architecture and geography. Chose luxury accommodations over riads, and couldn’t have been more comfortable. Got various added exposures beyond just normal tourist stops. Transport was always convenient and timely. Have a photo treasure of memories.

Our trip through Portugal was fantastic. We loved the places we visited and we particularly loved Bernardo, the best tour guide ever!

I have been reflecting on the trip through my jet-lagged brain and fortunately have some great photos to jog our collective memory.

Top three memories? That’s tough. The sunset sail in Lisbon was fabulous and a wonderful finish to our time in Portugal. We absolutely loved the Douro Valley lunch and wine pairing, entertained thoroughly by Rafael. Third top memory was the wine tasting and amazing lunch at Esporao. We had a great time in Portugal. Transfers were spot on, tours were really fun, and the Quinta de Vacaria hotel was definitely worth it. Dan highly recommended Douro. So glad we did it. Felt like we had the whole valley to ourselves. We ended up doing the big dinner at Schisto. What the heck - YOLO. It was pretty amazing.

Tasting their sparkling creations in such a historic setting was truly memorable.

Dan carefully listened to our input and created an itinerary that exceeded our expectations. We couldn’t have asked for a smoother or more enjoyable journey. From start to finish, our experience with Magical Spain was absolutely exceptional. Dan and his talented team worked closely with me every step of the way to create a bespoke trip that exceeded all expectations.

The accommodations they selected were not only comfortable but ideally located, with welcoming staff and beautiful surroundings. Every aspect of our transportation was thoughtfully arranged, eliminating the usual travel stress and allowing us to fully enjoy our time in Spain.

Our private guides were outstanding. In Madrid, Alicia gave us a fascinating and engaging tour of the city, complete with insider tips on where to grab a quick snack and even helping us find the perfect football jersey for my daughter's boyfriend. Thanks to her, we felt confident exploring Madrid on our own afterward. Magical Spain also booked us into an intimate flamenco performance that felt authentic and special—far from the typical tourist experience.

In Toledo, our guide Melanie adapted the tour perfectly to our group’s energy. When she sensed our teenager needed a break, she took us to a charming little bakery we never would have found on our own. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the day even more memorable.

While we loved Madrid, Barcelona truly stole our hearts. A highlight of the trip was our visit to Montserrat with Irma, who was not only knowledgeable but also a joy to spend time with. During our walking tour, she brought us to a hidden jewelry shop where we ended up buying most of our gifts. By our third day together, Irma felt more like a friend than a guide. Thanks to her, visits to landmarks like Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell were even more meaningful. She even introduced us to a cupcake shop that became a sweet mid-day break between sights.

From planning to execution, Magical Spain delivered a seamless, unforgettable travel experience. We can’t imagine a better company to travel with and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone planning a trip to Spain!

Our group of 12 just returned from a 2 week tour of Spain and Portugal. It was a once in a lifetime experience that was made even more special by the fantastic hotels (perfect locations), transportation, and especially the local guides who gave us an insight I imagine few people have the opportunity to receive.
The itinerary was very detailed and thorough and everything occurred on time and smoothly. The very rare hiccup was addressed quickly via the emergency contact line.

Dan and team organized an amazing trip for 12 people over 15 days! Accommodations were fabulous - especially our place in Seville! We were welcomed with a bottle of Cava! Porto was spectacular, as were the White Villages of Andalucia, Seville and our tour of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Our cooking class w/Amada @ Travel & Cuisine in Sevilla was a blast! She and her sister are very talented chefs, super knowledgeable and hilarious. Would highly recommend. Lori

Great experience with Magical Spain tours - Dan and his team put together a bespoke Andalusian trip for us in Oct 2024. Very efficient and easy process based on some input from us designed a trip and set up hotels, drivers, guides, entrance tickets, and dinner reservations. Everything was top rate and all went smoothly. Even better we had a chance to meet with Dan in Seville over tapas and wine which really added to our experience and was a much appreciated personal touch. Just back from two weeks in Spain and Portugal with a group of 12 friends. Dan and his team put together an amazing private, personalized trip. We gave him our input and they took care of the rest! From seeing and exploring some of the famous landmarks to hiking on the coasts of Costa Brava Spain and Algarve Portugal and through vineyards in the Douro Valley to biking in Barcelona and Sevilla, everything was wonderful and exceeded our expectations!
