17years of Liz Earle but sadly no more

I have been a faithful customer of the Liz Earle brand since I was 16 (17years now), using nothing else on my face as part of my daily skincare regime but, after purchasing the newly rebranded instant boost skin tonic at the weekend, I too will be binning a near full bottle and seeking a new brand sadly. Using just a tiny amount the solution causes a temporary burning across my face and makes my eyes sting like crazy. I don’t have sensitive skin either. Initially I was concerned I had a bad batch so emailed Liz Earle directly to raise my concerns. I received a response within 24 hours to confirm that they have replaced the polyethylene glycol in the product with safer plant-based alternatives which some people have informed the company is making the solution foamy and causing skin discomfort but, it’s completely safe. Whilst that might be the case, I’m not going to continue using a product that causes so much pain. Very sad to leaving this brand

The new toner is awful

The new toner is awful. Been a fan for many years but have just binned a nearly full bottle of your new toner after a few uses. Leaves a horrible residue on the skin and has reacted badly. Really disappointed.

Changes not for the better

After loving all the products for 20yrs I ,like other reviewers will be looking for other skincare. I used to love the toner, the smell was lovely and the feel on the skin was gentle and soothing. Having used up my old stock I purchased the new formula, the smell now is not pleasant and after use it leaves a tacky feel on my skin. After seven days of using I now have redness on my neck and face, skin feels tight and uncomfortable. Will have to bin what I have left. As others have said why change something which worked? Very disappointed.

Why has Liz Earle Toner changed !!!!

As a long standing user of Liz earle products I was absolutely gutted on receiving my monthly skin routine order to discover that the newly packaged toner is nothing like the one I have used used for so many years. If I’m honest the reason I buy the monthly skin is because of the cleanse and polish and the toner, I could take or leave the moisturiser, but it is good value to buy the skin routine package. Sadly they have now altered the toner beyond recognition ! It used to smell gorgeous ( my favourite part of my cleansing routine ) and it used to feel so lovely on my skin. Now it smells awful and leaves a nasty soapy residue on my skin. I really don’t know why Liz Earle would mess with a formula that was working perfectly well! I truly hope that they do not change the cleanse and polish formula as well . Honestly
I don’t think I can carry on using the toner … it’s just truly awful and if I have to start buying the toner and moisturiser from a different brand then I might as well look for a brand where I like the cleanser as well. I’m sorry Liz Earle I have loved your skin routine forever but unless the toner returns to its original formula I will be looking for a new skincare brand.

Purchased the rich moisturiser

Purchased the rich moisturiser; eye brightened, eye cleanser today. Reading reviews this evening shocks me as I have purchased moisturiser last year and enjoyed the beautiful product . I am hoping I won’t be disappointed ☹️ 🍀

Brand changed beyond recognition and not for the better. The final straw for me was the change of the eyebright which now contains Micellar water. I have stopped using LE altogether now but I have found Australian brand Sukin which is sold in Holland and Barrett absolutely brilliant and their spray toners are the best !

Formula Changes

Agree with everyone else's recent reviews regarding the change of ingredients, particularly the skin tonic. I've been using Liz Earle for about 6 years and could never find anything that beat it. However, the new changes are really disappointing.
The end of my skin routine is to use the tonic, then apply a vitamin c and hyaluronic serum, before moisturiser. Between the tonic and serum, the skin used to be clean and fresh. Now, when I use the serum it goes white and soapy, as if the tonic has left residue on my face. Absolutely gutted and pretty annoyed actually. I'm afraid I'll be moving onto something else, however long it takes to find it.

Recent product change... terrible decision!

I've used Liz Earle products for 9 years, and had no issues. However, since purchasing my latest bottle of Skin Tonic, which I noticed had been repackaged, my skin has been terrible. I have sensitive skin and prone to breakouts, but Liz Earle products have always helped with this until now. I also use the Super Skin Eye Cream, which again has always worked amazingly. But unfortunately, since I brought my most recent eye cream which again was repackaged, I've noticed a negative change. I'm gutted as Liz Earle was more go to brand for skin care. But after all the product changes, and how my skin has reacted I will have to find another brand for you daily skin care.

Formulation changed...why????

Formulation changed...I have used the skin tonic for over 15 years. It was a staple and never let me down. I suffer from sensitive skin...this stuff never caused a reaction so much so that my skin has been clear for 15 years....after finishing my old bottle of toner I bought the new one today...I noticed the bottle had changed but thought no more than that....I've used it tonight and wow the reaction was immediate....my skin started tingling straight away....then I smelt the cotton pad...ugh...the smell Is awful...it used to smell natural and heavenly....I had to wash it off....my skin is still tingling now as I write this....why change what never needed to be....sorry I wont be purchasing again....

Ingredients Have Changed

Having been a customer of Liz Earle for over 15 years, I’ve become more and more frustrated in recent months with the changes to the ingredients in what were once absolutely wonderful products.

The initial blow was the change of ingredients in the moisturisers; I gave all three of the new moisturisers a try, and they were all awful, leaving a horrible residue on the skin and a slimy texture which resulted in breakouts. Due to this I was no longer able to purchase the monthly skincare bundles I loved so much, as I had to source my moisturisers elsewhere.

I’ve continued to purchase the Cleanse & Polish, Instant Boost Skin Tonic and Eye Bright since the change-up in moisturisers, however after stocking up this month on my trusted trio, I’ve discovered the ingredients in the skin tonic and eye bright have now changed too, and after reading recent reviews left on the items, it appears I’m not the only long-term customer who is completely gutted by these changes, and left totally unamused. The response from the Liz Earle team in regards to the reasoning behind the changes being ‘keeping up with the times’ just aren’t cutting it. These products were perfect just as they were. I’m all for innovation and improving upon a product but the saying “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” really does fit the bill in this instance.

I do truly hope there are no plans to make any changes to the Cleanse & Polish, it would be a great shame to alter it. I hope this review, and that of other long-term customers, will go some way in swaying any decisions to make any alterations to any more original products, and hopefully, just possibly, make you consider changing them back.

I’m not one to spend my evenings leaving negative reviews, I am just so disappointed.

Regards,
A once loyal customer.

Disappointing Changes

I have been a Liz Earle customer for over 10 years and am so disappointed with the recent changes to products. I am sure the Cleanse and Polish has changed even though Liz Earle customer services claimed that is has not, sadly I had thrown away the old bottle so have not been able to compare the ingredients. The skin tonic has definitely changed, I have compared ingredients and quite frankly can't believe it was claimed on the website that it was just new packaging and the product was the same. Liz Earle saved my skin many years ago and these changes have ruined it again. I stopped using the moisturiser some time ago when it was changed and will no longer be a Liz Earle customer as I just can't use these products any more. What a shame that such wonderful skincare products have been ruined. They won't be award winning for much longer.

Fantastic customer service!

I purchased a body wash but disliked the fragrance, so called Head Office.
They were brilliant. I was offered a refund but I asked if I could exchange it for another, which the advisor agreed to.
I opted for a different one and was told that they would supply a stamp which could be sent in the post, so that I could return the body wash free of charge.
I received the exchanged product which was beautifully packaged like the previous one and am very happy with the fragrance I now have.
Really impressed. Thank you 🙂

Gave me skin burns and acne.

If I could give this 0 I would !
I have used Liz earl for years and swore by it however I don’t know what has happened to it but the formula has clearly been changed (without mention) my mum bought me a box set which isn’t cheap and since then I got the worst acne of my life. I almost had skin burns on parts of my face ! I put it down to Hormones , I spent a lot of money on things such as acupuncture to help my skin however one day I decided to stop all Liz earl and my skin after a few weeks completely cleared up.

Avoid !!!

Rose & Lavender Cleanse and Polish is now a much inferior product

I’ve been using Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish for over twenty years and never been tempted to change as it was a brilliant product. Over the last few years I’ve been using, whenever available, the Rose & Lavender version. My last purchase was the newly packaged version and the John Lewis assistant assured me that the product was the same. But it isn’t! The texture is very bitty, almost as if the product has separated or gone off, and just doesn’t feel the same. I’ve been in touch with Liz Earle customer service with photos and after over a month I received a second email asking me to send the product back to them. I no longer have the product as I used it despite complaint about the new texture. I can’t be the only one who has had this problem and I hate the way Liz Earle aren’t admitting that the product has changed. The fact that they are taking two weeks to respond probably means that I’m not the only one having issues with their products.
There is absolutely no way I’m buying this new version of Cleanse and Polish again and have been online buying up lots of the old version. Such a shame Liz Earle, you are going to lose a lot of your previously loyal customers.

Great product reformulated and ruined…

Sadly products have been reformulated and gone down hill since Liz Earle was bought out by Avon. I feared this might happen. It's taken a while, but most disappointed by the Eyebright Eye Cleanser. I used the Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion every day for years, then on my last order it was only available in the travel size for £8! I had hoped that the changed name and packaging (tacky looking, not elegant as Liz Earle's products always were) would still contain the same product but sadly not. Time for me to look elsewhere for something more suitable. Most disappointed.

Reformulation of products has left my…

Reformulation of products has left my skin with the worst acne of my life! I had tried every acne treatment around to help my constant breakouts over the last year, then after realising it was my trusted Liz Earle moisturiser that was causing these inflamed red spots all over my face. I have discontinued use and now everything has gone back to normal thankfully. I don't know why you would change a product if it wasn't broke, very disappointing and will not be purchasing again

Not happy

Very disappointing experience. On 3 occasions I have purchased a voucher for a signature facial. 1st was cancelled because the London branch was closing I was given a refund. 2nd time has 2 vouchers wanted to treat my elderly mother after the loss of her husband my dad. When I tried to book for the Guildford branch i was told there was only one treatment room which would have meant it would have taken us 3 hours and I was not happy leaving my mum to wait whilst I had mine, so a refund had to be done. Today I tried again to book only to be told the therapist was on long term sick and they were unable to confirm when they would get another therapist. So very very disappointing.
