After researching HSA providers, I chose Lively

I did my research about HSA providers and Lively came up on top, and after signing up, I found their website was super easy to use. They make it simple to transition current HSA plans to their platform. I did it all online and never had to speak to anyone, and I successfully transferred two different former HSAs to the Lively platform. I also wanted to invest my excess funds and chose to do that using the Schwab integration. Since I was already a Schwab customer I was curious to see if all my balances would be visible under my single sign-in account, and indeed they were. I’m very happy with the service. Keep it up!

I applied for an HSA account and then…

I applied for an HSA account and then nothing happened for a week. I contacted lively again and was asked for more information to verify my information, which I provided. I was notified that the process would take 1-2 business days to complete. After another week without any further communication, I contacted lively again. They gave me the same 1-2 day time period. At that point I felt like I might be getting scammed, and told them I would cancel my application and seek another vendor if they couldn’t get my account open by the end of the day. That motivated them to get it done.
My main concern, in addition to the length of time this took, is that there was no communication to me from Lively. That process was very disappointing.
They did send me the promised debit card in the expected time frame and it works,

Never had an issue or problem with…

Never had an issue or problem with Lively. Love that you can upload receipts, log in quickly. Also easy to see how much you have, how much you have contributed and how much you have left. I recommend this for anyone looking for a place to keep HSA funds.

Disorganized COBRA Administration - System Failures and Poor Communication

Enrolled in COBRA medical, dental, and vision coverage in August 2024 with consistent monthly payments. In January 2025, coverage was unexpectedly dropped due to employer plan changes. Customer service directed me to wait for an open enrollment letter, which arrived over three weeks late despite being dated January 31st.
Due to the uncertainty, I secured ACA marketplace health insurance but enrolled in COBRA dental and vision during open enrollment. Shortly after, I received notice that all coverage was terminated. Then in July 2025, I received another letter stating medical and dental were reinstated retroactively to January 1st - yet the online portal still shows everything as terminated.

The fundamental issue: different parts of their system don't communicate with each other. Letters contradict the portal, customer service provides conflicting information, and beneficiaries are left scrambling to maintain coverage. When you can't trust that your insurance is actually active, the coverage becomes worthless regardless of the premium paid.
