Paying customer — service unusable after update — refund denied with absurd reasoning
I had been a paying subscriber to Leonardo.ai for quite some time. After an unannounced change (likely to their content moderation system), the platform became practically unusable for me.
Even the simplest, completely harmless prompts — ones that work perfectly in other tools like Freepik or Google-based models — are now instantly rejected with:
“Failed Generation – Your request did not meet content safety guidelines. Your tokens have been credited back to your account.”
Tokens get refunded — great, but meaningless when actual image generation is impossible. I'm left paying monthly for a service that delivers zero usable output.
I contacted support and clearly explained: the exact same prompts succeed elsewhere without issue, so the fault lies squarely with Leonardo's overzealous/broken filter. No NSFW or edgy content involved — basic, everyday prompts fail.
First reply from agent Jefren: Polite boilerplate asking if the problem persists and offering vague "help" — zero actual investigation or solution.
My follow-up: Confirmed it persists, requested a refund ASAP.
Jefren's second reply: Completely sidestepped the entire problem. Not a single word about the moderation failure, no troubleshooting, no explanation why harmless prompts are suddenly blocked, no effort to fix or even acknowledge it. Instead, he just:
Confirmed my already self-initiated subscription cancellation, and denied the refund because “the number of tokens used has exceeded the limit allowed for refunds” and “a significant portion of the subscription has already been consumed”.
This reasoning is absurd and insulting:
The "consumed" tokens were wasted on repeated failed attempts precisely because Leonardo's own system blocks generations. I'm being punished — and charged — for their broken moderation. It's like paying for a car that won't start, then being told no refund because you "used too much fuel" trying to turn the key.
Result for a loyal, long-term paying customer:
Paid-for service rendered unusable
Extremely restrictive filter with no transparency or feedback on triggers.
Support (specifically Jefren) provides zero real help, ignores the root cause, and defaults to template denial.
Refund refused despite non-functional product during the paid period.
Cancellation merely acknowledged — nothing more.
Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. This level of customer disregard and circular logic makes it impossible to recommend Leonardo.ai subscriptions right now. Avoid if you value reliable service and fair refund handling.

I am deeply disappointed with Leonardo.ai's billing practices and customer service. Their subscription interface is misleading—it's not immediately clear that you're signing up for a recurring monthly charge rather than a one-time payment.
Even though I noticed the charge immediately and haven't used a single token from the new billing cycle, their support refused to issue a refund. It's incredibly frustrating to see a company prioritize $30 over customer loyalty and basic fairness.
If you're looking for a service that actually values its users and has transparent billing, look elsewhere. This is not a customer-oriented company. I will not be using their platform again.

Very good site, just not for me.
Initially, I had a disappointing experience with Leonardo AI. The advertising and website implied that, with a paid subscription, you could train complete models, but in practice, only the “elements” feature was available, which greatly limited the possibilities. I paid expecting something different, and when I saw that it didn't work as I expected, I requested a refund.
The refund process took longer than I would have liked, and I had to insist several times to get it moving. However, I want to highlight the positive customer service provided by the support team: they were always very friendly, patient, and made an effort to explain the technical limitations to me. Although the explanations were beyond my knowledge and understanding of the subject, I really appreciated their willingness to help and clarify things.
In the end, they granted a full refund, which solved the main problem. It's not the ideal experience, but I do appreciate it when a company acknowledges when something hasn't worked and acts accordingly with courtesy. So, even though the product didn't meet my initial expectations, the treatment I received left me with a more positive impression than I expected. I am the problem, not them.
