They have no idea how Court of Protection deputyship works...

I was contacted by L&G via the DWP about an unclaimed pension that my father (for whom I have Court of Protection deputyship for) had with an employer he left in the 1980s. But the process has been awful.

At first, they accepted the Court order without any hassle and sent me the details of the pension and options for utilising it. But when I completed the form, it turns out L&G had a different date of birth for my father, and from then on I was treated with suspicion and clear indications that they thought I might be committing "financial crime". I pointed out their wording was inappropriate and received no apologies, so assume that my first assumption that they think I'm going to commit fraud was correct. I was asked for different IDs for both myself and my father - this in itself is not an issue, I expect this, but did expect for everything to be asked for in one go (and before quotation was offered), rather than asking for new info each time a new ID was submitted. It came across as delaying tactics and further indications that I was not trusted.

Although they have since sent the monies over, I have since learned L&G have being sending confidential letters to my incapacitated father at his care home, which was opened by his care staff. It is in direct contradiction to how companies should apply a COP deputyship order to a customer's account - the original customer is now deemed to be incapable of managing their affairs and the deputy now acts in their place. They have the audacity to accuse me of possibly committing "financial crime", but they themselves have no hesitation in committing acts which place his account at further risk and abuse!

I work in finance and compliance. I hold membership with a well-known accountancy body. I am not going to put my career and the deputyship which is closely monitored by the Office of the Public Guardian in jeopardy. In the 6 years I have held deputyship, I have been used to long-winded processes and requests for IDs, but this is the first time I have had my integrity questioned. It is obvious from some of the aggressive language I have received and the fact they have breached the Court order to send confidential info to my father that L&G have no idea how COP orders work.

This experience has made me decide never to use them for myself so if I end up like my father, then my loved ones won't be treated in the same way I have been.

Edited in response to Toby's message - this is the email address I have been dealing with no success. I've also been dealing with your complaints email with no acknowledgement or idea how long it will take.
