Muppets
Muppets. System designed to make it as hard as possible to get a Leap Card. You require a Student ID with detailed information. No college has all of this information on their student ID. Then you require a letter with all of this information. Applications keep getting rejected even though all information is given. When they reject the application, they give you as little information as possible so you dont exactly what the issue is.
Transport for Ireland just not you!
Rating the TFI Leap Card 1 star, mainly because I can’t rate it 0 stars. The card technology is completely outdated and cumbersome to use. The topping up process appears to be from Victorian times with convoluted codes on bank transfers rather than just setting up a normal direct debit top up. The customer service is non-existent: I’ve called, I’ve attempted online chat and emailed, but of course it’s not possible to receive a response.
Clearly a state-owned entity where work is optional and doing a poor job is better than having no job at all.
refund
I requested refund because I lost 2 Nov 25. confirmation email said it may take up to 3 working days. but I didn't receive it yet. so I emailed to customer service 11 Nov 25. No response and no refund. I emailed again today 14 Nov 25.
Appalling website which confounds you at every turn.
Appalling website which confounds you at every turn. I suspect in an effort to be 'hyper secure' they forgot about usability and a sensible assessment of 'what is the real risk here?'.
Functionality is completely bizarre and the randomness of ill-informed error messages just make this a nightmare. Please have a student review it for usability and common sense from a customer perspective, then apply the security layer.
Jay and Richard from leapcard customer care are useless
I was speaking to Jay and Richard from customer care. Jay told me my new leapcard will be processed and sent out to me. Richard told me he will call me back with an update and i never heard from him. Over a month later i rang to check has my leapcard been processed. I never received my leapcard and its extremely irritating to not receive what i ordered.
Horrible Company
Had to replace the payment method for a leap card I had for more than 3 years and was being shown an error every time I had to top up. Emailed twice and received 1 reply asking for more info and then never got another reply so I called, explained the issue and the person on the phone had no solutions other than to replace the leap card even though it’s clearly an issue on their end because their technology is so outdated (the error has “Payzone circa. 2010” written on it). Left the call with no solutions so had to cancel the leap card and their emails state the new one will be delivered in up to 10 working days and a refund will be processed in up to 21 working days. This is one of the worst company’s I’ve dealt with honestly every single aspect of Irish travel is nothing but greed, technical problems and lack of care.
Just can't load money into the stupid…
Just can't load money into the stupid thing. A waste of time. Thank God I'm getting free travel in a month.
I’d give 0 stars if i could
I’d give 0 stars if i could. Bought a leapcard in june, it was blocked for some reason and i had already put 25 euros on that one. It’s ok, technical difficulties can happen, kinda strange that they couldn’t do anything about it but anyway, i bought a new one and discovered that to get a refund i had to send back the old card through post service (welcome back in the 80s i guess). After sending it back i’ve waited for almost 2 months and still no refunds. I sent them an email and they told me with that my money were on their way and in 7 days i should have received the refund. It’s been 2 weeks and still nothing. Wrote another email, no one replied. Don’t try the chate from they’re website, you’ll wait for 10+ minutes just to talk with someone and if you don’t text fast enough they’ll close the chat (literally i was writing a text for 30 seconds and they closed the chat). Phone call is even worse, longer wait and when they finally reply you’ll just hear a ton of loud voices and won’t even understand what the operator is saying. I have never seen anything like this and i’m from italy so i’m used to faulty and slow services but this one really surprised me. Worst client support i’ve ever seen.
The system is rubbish upload passport
The system is rubbish upload passport, college letter, selfie for student leap card came back refused can’t verify my age I can’t understand , now have to wait again 5 days after a new application

A website deliberately designed to…
A website deliberately designed to drain peoples time and energy so leap card don't have to staff the service. Not to mention the atrocious 90's web 1 interface.
4 weeks waiting for a new card and…
4 weeks waiting for a new card and nothing,no update nada from this lot!! Amateurs!
Rubbish app - people are forced
Rubbish app, people are forced to buy the more expensive tickets at the counter with this rubbish or not pay at all.
Your App is a load of bollocks!
Terrible customer service and functionality
The customer service is absolutely awful. Many of their agents cannot understand English and most of them have no idea how to answer any query at all. I was charged for a monthly Irish Rail ticket which has still not been credited to my card a week later and they are deducting additional funds from my credit balance. Just terrible.
Customer service is really bad
Customer service is really bad, they close an email query without a resolution which is surprising. I replied to an email query and then i heard nothing back so I called them and they said we closed the query so that's why we didn't look at my response. How can you close a query when it has not been solved? Also, the woman on the phone was very rude.
I have never had a worse experience…
I have never had a worse experience with a travel card. The first thing was that I couldn't top up my credit, I tried going to their website, but they deactivated my account there. So I called the helpline, where they told me to reinstall the application and they didn't help me with deactivating my account. So I called them again, someone else told me that my card might be faulty and that they would activate my account within an hour. After two hours I tried to log in and nothing. So I called the helpline again, where they finally deactivated my account, but there is another catch, the website doesn't work, so I can't finish activating my account. Overall, their website is absolutely confusing and doesn't work, and the helpline doesn't help.
Waiting 42 days for a €55 refund
i have been waiting for a refund for 42 days (30 working days). i lost my purse on the 15th of November, requested refund. emailed 10 days later as i had not received my refund of €55 was told to wait up to 21 working days, did this then emailed on the 3rd of December inquired about an update no one bothered replying. i then rang them after the 21 working days and was told due to christmas it could take longer. maximum 30 days, not 30 working days only 30 days. don’t know how christmas affect a refund from november but okay. so i ring after 30 days and a girl called chloe told me it would be 30 WORKING days i said i was not told this last time and had previously been told 21 working days. nobody had any idea what they are talking about. chloe told me the money would be in my account for n the 27th of december no later. that is today and of course no sign of my money. this company and their customer service is useless.
Irish rail should also accept student cards
I was annoyed when Irish Rail stopped accepting University issued student cards forcing full-time third level students to pay for a personlised Leap card. The online purchase was pretty easy. They should make it available for print from any train station... I had to go to a Student Union office. It was quick and of my €10 payment €5 is travel credit. I topped up my card directly from my phone via NFC, just like i do in France. The Leap experience so far has been pretty smooth. Used it today on the bus. Big improvement on cash payments to bus drivers who would never give change anyway.
The rudest foreign woman
The rudest foreign woman, do not know how she is working in customer service. She would be better off in a different job that doesn’t involve speaking to people because clearly she doesn’t know how to speak properly all was asked if I am eligible for a student leap card and the attitude jesus I honestly hope she is let go
