5 Windows installed in old property

From getting quote right through to installation service was great. Terry and his Dad worked so hard from7.30am until 6.30 pm to ensure all the work was completed to a high standard. It wasn't an easy installation but they were always pleasant and cleared up after themselves. They definitely deserve a bonus

The windows are of great quality, they have fitted perfectly with the style of the house .

Does not comply with fire regulations

Multiple problems from the start so strap in. The job was 16 windows, three French doors and front and back doors. The follow-on job is the rear of the house with 14 more windows, a 3m bifold and a 2m bifold doors.
I was told that if I paid the deposit in Nov 25, the installation would be before Christmas because that was their quiet time. That was not true and not achievable. It took weeks for them to get the spec right from small details like hinge colours to French doors and windows missed of entirely. I had to go through the spec multiple times to get it right and corrected mistakes seemed to reappear. The pictures in the spec didn’t always match the description because of issues with the software. I had to chase to get the surveyor booked because they forgot to book the appointment. Surveyor laughed at the Christmas install date. I had specified a dog flap in the back door which the sales guy said would be fitted. This was incorrect, I had to supply it. Surveyor said mid Jan for some of the windows and mid Feb for the doors. Couldn’t get hold of anyone throughout Dec either phone or email and feared they’d gone bust. Finally had someone show up and he got on with it OK but was missing various trim for windows and French doors. There was the wrong window handles on one window. Wrong locks on the French doors. One of the panes of glass was the wrong size so he put a piece of plastic in its place temporarily. He came back to fit the pane but brought the wrong size again. We’re in April and it’s still not done from Jan and no indication of when it will be done. They sent the final invoice when there were still three doors and three windows left to install. They fitted the front door mid Feb, still waiting for it to be finished. He was supposed to fit the back door the same time, but he couldn't find it in the factory. He was booked in to fit it but didn’t show up. He arrived a week late because he had been double booked. I had to ask where he was when he didn’t show. When the back door finally arrived, it was the wrong colour. There were so many errors on the spec, I missed this one, so they won’t even talk about it. He had to fit it because the old door had been ripped out. Either way, it’s still not finished and it wouldn’t open. They sent a subcontractor to fix the door so that it actually opens without kicking it.
Debris left on site since Jan.
Here’s the big one; the building inspector has said the upstairs windows do not comply with fire regulations. Launa’s reaction was that I should have “satisfied myself that they were compliant before they were fitted”!! They have offered a bodged solution.
I don’t know where to turn to now.

Hi Theo,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry that you feel disappointed with your experience, and we would like to address the points you raised to provide clarity.

We apologise for the frustration caused during your installation journey. This has been a complex, multi‑phase project, and we recognise that delays and amendments created inconvenience.

Regarding timelines, any dates given at quotation stage are provisional and can change after survey or if the order is amended. In your case, changes to the original specification required a contract variation, which delayed release to production. Your deposit was received in mid‑October, and Phase 1 was completed on 5 January, our first working day after the Christmas closure, which remained within the 16‑week timeframe in our terms and conditions.

Your order involved multiple bespoke products. While we aim for complete accuracy, occasional human error can occur, and we have been working continuously to resolve all snagging items.

Your survey appointment was not forgotten. It took place just over two weeks after your deposit. At that time, we had one surveyor covering three branches across Devon and Somerset, which was explained to you, and we apologised for the inconvenience.

Phase 2 was completed in mid‑February, in line with the surveyor’s estimated schedule. Phase 3 has been surveyed and is ready to proceed, but we are awaiting your instruction to begin manufacturing due to ongoing building work at your property.

Your claim that you were unable to contact anyone in December is incorrect. Early in December, our installation supervisor was briefly absent due to illness. Another Britannia team member covered during this period, attempted to contact you, and left a voicemail. On her return, the supervisor responded to your queries, followed by further correspondence on 8 and 11 December.

Outstanding snagging items are being actively managed, and you remain in communication with Libby. She has confirmed that once the replacement glass arrives, an appointment will be arranged immediately.

Regarding the rear door colour, it matches the specification you signed off on both the contract and survey documents. Where other signed‑off specification issues arose, we have resolved them as a gesture of goodwill. We encourage all customers to review final survey documents carefully before approval.

No external subcontractors have attended your property. The engineer who visited was our in‑house repairs specialist from Fixman, part of the Britannia Group.

The materials you described as “debris” are trim components required for Phase 3 and associated building works.

On the matter of upstairs windows and fire regulation compliance, we take this extremely seriously. We have offered, and remain committed, to remanufacture and replace the affected windows so they are fully compliant. You have not yet authorised us to proceed. Instead, you have requested compensation and additional free windows, which our policies do not permit. The correct resolution is to replace the windows with compliant remakes once approval is given.

Finally, we must address that you posted the same review on Otter Windows, a separate company with no involvement in your installation. You stated this was to attract management attention. This is unfair to a business unconnected to your project, and we respectfully request that the review be removed from their page.

We are genuinely sorry that your experience has not met your expectations. Our team remains committed to resolving the remaining issues and completing your installation to a standard you can feel satisfied with. We appreciate your patience and hope to bring this matter to a positive conclusion.

Not happy with communication re installationn

I am completely happy with the quality of my two new doors, the fitter Mark was excellent. But I had to wait two months from the time of paying 90% of my bill until final installation. A previous appointment had been made but no-one turned up, no-one contacted me so I waited in all day. The phone in head office is permanently on answer phone but no-one gets back to you. Eventually I spoke to Libby in the local office who made a new appointment. It was very frustrating and annoying, and I will not be using this company again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We’re very pleased to hear that you’re happy with the quality of your new doors and that Mark provided an excellent installation service—this is exactly the standard we aim to deliver.

That said, your experience with the delays and lack of communication is certainly not what we expect, and it has not gone unnoticed. We completely understand how frustrating this must have been, especially after waiting in for an appointment without any contact.

We are, however, glad to hear that Libby in the local office was able to step in and support you in arranging a new installation date.

Your feedback is incredibly important to us, and we will be reviewing this internally to help improve our communication and service moving forward.

Very pleased

Very pleased with Marks work, he gave great customer service, very helpful and polite, and he left all areas that he worked in spotlessly clean. My new windows and doors are a huge improvement and I can feel the benefit already in the temperature of my home.

Front & Rear Doors

We had arranged to have a front and back door fitted. We experienced delays with fitting dates and that one panel wasn’t ready on installation day so I would give that aspect x3 stars. The actual fitting itself by Mark was excellent! X5 stars! He was early, very polite and friendly and clearly an expert in his field because he did a tremendous job. We are extremely pleased with his workmanship!!
