Fantastic System!

This system is fantastic. It installed just as easily as the videos said it would, and it works perfectly. My challenge is making all of my automation software work with it, but there are plenty of videos out there to tutor that depending on what setup you have. Great product that does what it professes to do. Thanks!

I ordered two garage opener devices

I ordered two garage opener devices. I'm finding they are creating interference between the opener fob in my car and the garage opener itself. I cannot open my doors no further away than the end of my driveway. Per konnected.io article, I have put ferrite cores on the power line of the konnected.io garage opener devices and also the power cable to the garage opener. I have also moved them a bit further away from the garage opener. Nothing is helping.

This has been a lot of fun

This has been a lot of fun. Watching the videos I was able to swap out my ADT system for the Konnected one in well under an hour (expected to be there several hours, even brought a sandwich). Nope just swapped right out, plugged it in and bam there it was in Home Assistant.

It went pretty well

It went pretty well, however setting up with Alexa was a problem. You have to go into Alexa and make some settings before the Konnected side of it is able to continue. Sorry I can't be more specific but I just going back and forth till I got it. Suggest you do a set up specifically for Alexa and then you will see the issue.
Otherwise very easy.

Excitement to disappointment; very bad customer experience

I ordered online excited about the prospect of integrating the alarm system with home assistant.

Buried in the Terms of Service it says something about accepting all import costs. This makes konnected feel they can tell FedEx to charge you extra in addition to import duties, which I never agreed to the way I see it.

So in addition to an expensive product and expected import duties, I had FedEx asking for additional service fees which I never agreed to and threatening my credit and court fees if I didn't pay them an extortionate fee I never agreed to.

To top it off, due to poor documentation on the konnected website, it turns out I ordered the wrong kit and it's useless for my needs; it does not work with my already installed alarm system. Returning it is very costly and I've already paid too much for this useless stuff, I'm feeling very drained.

Just recently they contacted me from their records to tell me that they now offer items direct from the UK. I told them to remove my information from their systems and not contact me again. The person who contacted me mocked me, laughed at my GDPR removal request, and still contacted me after my no contact request. Needless to say I've just complained about this GDPR violation and yet another bad experience with Konnected.

The only reason it's 2 stars instead of 1 is that they were "kind" enough to refund the donation I made to them when I first found out all the problems with my order.

It's a mess, stay far away from this company is my advice.

This is the second unfortunate review from Ryan complaining about UK government VAT taxes and FedEx brokerage fees. The first was from earlier this year. Since then we have become VAT registered in the UK and all taxes and fees are presented up-front. Ryan seems bitter because we emailed him to inform him so (the vast majority of the recipients of that email were positive and happy to receive the news). Ryan then demanded an instantaneous "GDPR removal" via email to one of our sales and marketing employees. We politely informed Ryan of the GDPR removal request process and his removal was ultimately completed.

Ryan's experience is not representative of most.

Konnected is Amazing

I recently installed the Konnected module to upgrade my outdated hardwired alarm system, and I must say, it's been a total game-changer. This device seamlessly transformed my aging security setup into a wireless, integrated Smartthings powerhouse.

Customer Service Failure

I purchased the Connected Pro board, 2 wired interface boards, the battery backup and a 3D printed case for the pro board to keep from putting it in a metal box (killing Wi-Fi). After setting everything up the Wi-Fi was hit and miss at communicating with the access point less than 3 ft away and would only work reliably when connected by ethernet. I contacted their “help” team, who spent hours messaging with varying instructions for rebuilding the firmware and gathering logs. Each time declaring they didn’t see a problem on the logs - but it was still not working. After days of back and forth I requested they exchange the board for another unit as the most obvious issue was a wi-fi module buffer instability or failure. The responses were more demanding and wasted time. 

I would advise others to purchase through Amazon rather than directly as I did, where they can utilize Amazon's return and exchange policies. They may have created an innovative solution, but they have a LOT to learn about customer service. - Their support is a total failure.

I'm disappointed to see this review, Tim. We're really trying hard and spent a lot of time with you trying to get to the bottom of the issue that you're experiencing.

When a customer approaches us with a unique or unknown problem, we make every effort to identify the root cause of the problem. By the nature of this highly technical device, there are many confounding factors including the devices connected to the product, the customer’s network/WiFi characteristics, and the 3rd-party smart home platform (i.e. Home Assistant) that can contribute to actual or perceived technical problems. Our troubleshooting process intends to identify and isolate the actual problem, and in the majority of cases, with appropriate troubleshooting, we can solve problems after a brief technical information exchange.

There are certain classes of problems that are already known to us based on our experience supporting this product (and previous iterations) since 2017. The problem that you presented here in this thread is not one of those known potential issues and therefore requires some additional troubleshooting or investigation to identify the root cause – which may or may not be a problem with the device itself. That’s what I’m trying to determine since you offered to send it back for an exchange.

Unfortunately, you have not sent back the device for inspection/troubleshooting using the pre-paid label that we've sent you. Instead, you are demanding a free replacement, then accusing us of "failing" customer service when we decline to give in to your demands. Our warranty process is quite generous and clear -- we will replace any product that fails due to a manufacturing defect or other non-inflicted damage within one year -- once we determine that there is, in fact, a defect or failure. You have become frustrated with the troubleshooting process, which is understandable, but have also declined to send us the product so we can troubleshoot it ourselves and replace it if necessary. Unfortunately, that leaves us at an impasse.

You are still well within your 1-year warranty period. The USPS return label that we sent you is valid for 365 days. We'll be happy to repair or replace the product shortly after you send back the one with the suspected problem.

Installation was straightforward. Customization is where this product truly shines: direct integration into Home Assistant via custom ESPHome firmware solved an issue that other vendors were unable to touch.

Replaced Gen 1 with the Pro

Replaced older Gen 1 system with the new Pro and super easy to integrate with SmartThings. Customer service is always top notch!! Easy to install and set up taking about 4 hours to be up and Konnected!
