Booked a Villa in Lanzarote

Booked a Villa in Lanzarote, 2 cars were included as “free” car hire as part of the holiday.
No problem picking up both cars from hire company near the airport, we made sure we had a video of each car for damage etc before leaving for the resort.
The problems came on dropping off the cars at the hire company before departing Lanzarote.
Both cars had required a credit card swipe on collection, we were prepared for this, however the car hire company rep “inspected” each car and initially found “damage” on both cars we were going to be charged for on the credit card used as guarantee.
One of the cars the rep decided was not damaged after referring to their video of the car on collection, after we complained, the other car was also declared “damaged”, the rep refused to believe that there was no damage, charged the card several hundred pounds and dismissed us.
We had fully comprehensive insurance through Jet2, so were not unduly worried about it being refunded.
On arriving home we were advised the claim was made to traveljigsaw not Jet2, since then have had every attempt to contact ending in stalemate.
The reference number is not valid, Jet2 confirmed the one were using was valid, telephone calls ended in lines being cut off abruptly and Jet2 refused to respond saying it was traveljigsaw not Jet2 the claim was with.
Jet2 refuse to respond any further, traveljigsaw will not respond by email or phone.
Stalemate, trying the insurance ombudsman, not holding out much hope reading the reviews of many similar incidents with the same company.

Firefly car rental scam

Booked FireFly through Jet2, took out the extra insurance cover with Jet2, went to collect the car at Malaga Airport to be told I had to take their full insurance even though I’d already taken full protection. They wouldn’t give me the car without it. Was a woman alone in a foreign country and completely stranded as I couldn’t get back to the other car hire desks which are in the terminal (the area you can’t re-access after you’ve left) so I was stranded. Had to pay an extra €345 which was €195.37 insurance and €150 deposit, I got the €150 back after several weeks, but reading other reviews not everyone does. Decided to take it up with jet2 when I got home, they refunded the extra insurance I’d paid with them which was £40 but said I’d didn’t have to pay the €195.37 and had done it voluntarily?! Nope I was strong armed and scammed into having to pay it or be stranded! They know this it a scam and ‘will monitor the situation and thanks for the feedback’. It looks like they are completely endorsing this rip off scam and not only allowing it to happen but being the middleman in the situation.

Cowardly company hiding behind what should be a good name

Awful and miss leading to good to be true, this company hides behind a good name like jet2 do not book car hire rip off had to pay insurance twice as not prepared to hand over 800 euros when picking the car up. Wish I’d looked at the reviews before hand only you believe your dealing with jet2 your not it should be illegal!! Shame on you jet2 for allowing this.

UPDATE 29/12/23 Sent email as requested got an automated message saying we’ll be in touch with in 28 days and you guessed it nothing!

Suprice, Surprice car hire! (Not a nice 'Surprice' either)... Updated 13th November (See below).

The flights to and from Crete were fine, however I had a bad experience from the car hire company. The car hire was arranged with my Jet2 flight, and I elected to take full insurance cover with Jet2 in addition to the car hire itself. Upon arrival at Heraklion airport, we were taken by shuttle bus to the Surprice parking lot a few minutes away, and we proceeded to go through the hire process. I showed the Surpice agent my driving licence, passport, and printouts (both the Greek and the English version) that Jet2 had provided where it states “Full Insurance", but it was declined saying that it was insufficient. The agent was most insistent that the insurance cover with my Jet2 booking was NOT full cover, and that any damage to certain parts of the car (quoting the section on the rental voucher that says “Other parts of the car eg glass, wheels, interior, roof or undercarriage)” was not covered by my Jet2 insurance. I protested, but Surprice continued to insist that what I had was a contract between myself and Jet2 - and that it did NOT cover the vehicle itself. At this point, the agent (and their colleague) went on to say that if I wanted to continue wit the hire, then I would have to sign and pay their additional sum of €245 (comprised of 7 days of Tyre and Glass cover, and FDW).

To turn down the hire at this stage would have compromised our holiday stay significantly. We were no longer at the airport (having been couriered to Surprice cars parking lot by their shuttle service) so there was no one independent whom I could ask for assistance; it was also getting late in the evening; and would be later still when we’d driven 2hrs to our destination on the other side of the island. I therefore elected to pay the fee to have the vehicle released to us, so that we could continue on our way.

I know that I was correct in asking Surprice to waive the additional insurance - but it really was a case of “take it or leave it” from the agent. I’m most unhappy at the additional cost which spoilt an otherwise most successful trip abroad. I have asked Jet2 to look into this.

13th November update. So far, I've had responses from Rentalcars, Jet2carhire, Jet2CustomerRelations(at)rentalcars.com, Jet2carhire.com, Jet2.com, Jet2 Customer Service Team, Jet2Holidays, and customerservice(at)jet2holidays.com. I say 'responses', rather than anything more positive, as the same platitudes are given ("We're looking into this", "We know how frustrating it is", "We are very sorry to hear that the service you received wasn't up to scratch" etc. However - (and despite providing the required information regarding flight reference, car hire reference etc more than once), we appear to be no nearer to anyone at Jet2 taking control of the situation. What I have however discovered is, that I am not alone. Trustpilot is littered with similar unhappy tales as this one regarding Jet2 and car hire. There's something fundamentally wrong with Jet2's management of airport car hire which needs to be sorted. Meanwhile, I urge anyone reading this NOT to use Jet2 car hire.

8th January 2024 - Received an email from Jet2, saying (In effect) sorry not our problem. Sorry Jet2, but it clearly IS your problem; just look at the reviews here. This is a shambles, and at the very least you should stop using Surprice.

13th March. No progress with Jet2. They say (essentially) not their problem, and you should have refused! Come on Jet2 - you know this high-pressure activity is going on. You need to take responsibility of the issue and stop it!

OK Mobility SUCK

I would have given this no stars , but that's not an option.
All I can say is DON'T DO IT !!
I booked a car and when we got there to pick it up they said "it's cancelled" because we were late picking it up.
I told him "I have paid for a week, this is my time" he couldn't care less and tried to sell me the same car for more than double what I had already paid.
Jet 2 rep was embarrassed and said he would bring it up at a meeting and it's illegal.
Jet 2 do not hire cars, end of.OK Mobility didn't offer any refund. So I have handed it to the bank.

Appalling service

Appalling service - arrived at airport at 4pm to pick up car only to find car hire desk closed for the day. Needed x2 60 euro taxi fares from airport to accommodation and back again to pick up a rebooked car the following day. Jet2 assured they would refund but 2.5 weeks no sign of any refund and no one picking up their 24 hour line either.

Paid extra for full insurance cover, only to be almost forced to take out further cover of £140 for 3 days hire.
OK mobility gave us an ultimatum to pay £1200 deposit (as the paid insurance wouldn't cover us) or pay the £140 extra cover

Don’t buy their Excess/ protection…

Don’t buy their Excess/ protection insurance!! The car hire company don’t recognise it and insist on you leaving a massive excess deposit (£1200 in our case) or buy their expensive excess insurance.

Not good. I’ll avoid Jet 2 car rental in future.

Don’t take the car hire in Portugal

I have flown with Jet2 before so booked with them again. The holiday included a hire car so we thought great. On arrival at Faro, the shuttle bus were taking limited amounts of people at a time so we got a taxi to the hire car company. Here we were told we had two options, one we could leave 2400 euro deposit and any damage would impact the money returned or we could pay their insurance for a no quibble service. We saw people being abandoned without car at this company. I will be looking at what actions I can take on return. What a disappointing experience. I gave one star as I couldn’t leave none.

Rip off

Got to Rhodes late 18th July 23, went out of the hotel for the morning of 22nd and got back to the hotel in the afternoon, it had been evacuated, no staff there, no message on our phones, we were left standing in the road outside with 2 small children. Made our way to the airport ourselves after 10 hours of hell. they haven’t even refunded us for 7 lost days of the holiday. Jet2 please insert a generic response below and then ignore us for another 30 days please

AVOID!!! SHOCKING!!! AVOID!!

AVOID!!!! Total scammers, read all reviews as they all same the same !!!!

Been ripped off £815.00 !! Arrived to collect car and the company Carwiz who obviously not great wanted another 1700.00 euro deposit, we were going ahead to pay but by the sounds of it we got lucky. Card would not work in their machine so no car !!! Spent 4 hours of our first day trying to sort this out, after leaving the car hire as they would not give us a car or any money back as they said it’s down to jet 2 to refund, we finally got through to a jet2 rep, well this is even been more of a scam, they then cancelled our first booking and then made a new one and wanted another 900 pounds !! And then said you lost your money from the first booking as you made a new booking !!! What the hell !!! It doesn’t even make sense their whole system!!! Apart from ripping people off !!! I feel like in of us should take this further as they can’t get away with doing this !!! Total scam by jet2 !!! Appalling service and customer policy !!!

Sounds like they have a system of taking bookings, very handy that card machines don’t work on collection, you’re left in a total no card no car situation!!! After hours of sorting you leave and try to get answers Form jet2 thinking you will get some help, you speak to someone who then scams you out of more money or refuses to refund you as they have not kept up with their part of the contract !!!

Jet2 - avoid their 3rd party car-hire partners.

Having been a victim of the fraudulent use of "holding deposit" by Carjet in Crete last year (they banked the €1100 excess deposit and wouldn't refund it despite car being returned in perfect condition. MBNA Lloyds refunded for me), I was anxious to avoid any problems when visiting Spain this year. As we were flying with Jet2 and I (mistakenly) thought they were a reputable company, I used their car rental service. I had not realised that they simply sub-contracted to a third party, and in this case, a very poor one. Without going in to a rambling explanation, suffice to say that (up to now) it has cost me around £200. The point I am trying to make is that my contract was with Jet2 not the third party and they refuse to accept responsibility. Stay clear or, in our future holidays, we'll spend the money on taxis instead.

Taken With A Timely Scam

Booked through Jet2carhire for my car rental.
Paid using my debit card over £1400 etc FULL COVER
On top of that I was told another €600 would be held as a deposit by the car rental company once I’d arrived to collect the car, this was insurance to cover any unforeseen bumps, scratches etc and I would be reimbursed.
This at moment is not the case, on arrival at Olbia, airport Sardegne to collect the car at the rental outlet Noleggiare (this company is partnered with Jet2carhire I’m told by of the reps).
As I’m not in possession of credit cards I use my debit card throughout the booking of my flights and car hire,
When I came to put the €600 as a deposit they wanted a credit card and not having one I had to take out insurance with Noleggiare using my debit card which I duly did and was told by Noleggiare I be able to claim it back by contacting Jet2carhire providing no issues with the car on return.
There wasn’t any and with that signed the form, I ask again Noleggiare when they would refund my €600? again they pointed out and unlined the number for Jet2carhire.
To day 26th June I contacted Jet2carhire for that purpose, after a friendly discussion with a rep called Marios he told me what to do ie documentation required as proof, few minutes later I got confirmation via email that out of the £1400 I’d paid £85 + would be refunded within 7days.
Thus brings me to the main issue of the extra money I’d had to pay €600, fully expecting the refund, after contacting Jet2carhire I was told by them that they would NOT be refunding the money I’d laid down ? SHOCK !! WHAT !!
The reason given was that because I didn’t have a credit card and I used my debit card to pay the €600 which meant that I had to take insurance with Noleggiare but told I would be reimbursed by Jet2carhire.
I had NO choice in the matter NO money NO car simple.
After spending some time with a Jet2carhire rep this afternoon and was kept waiting I was told it was in the terms & conditions regarding credit cards, I pointed out that I didn’t receive those terms & conditions until I’d paid using my debit card so how could I possibly have known??
The rep then said that I should contact Noleggiare to claim back as it was my responsibility, that I’d already done but no reply
I strongly pointed out that Jet2carhire have a responsibility to get that money back from Noleggiare and paid into my account after all they are in partnership, and NOT me Jet2carhire have more clout than a simple customer like what I am.
I was left on hold and then the phone went dead.
I still await a phone call back to see if they have pulled their fingers out.

Flights mostly great, carhire nightmare.

Flights and service are generally great, shame about delapidated Leeds Bradford Airport.
Experience let down by Jet2 car hire at Alicante and meal service on return flight.
Front staff were amazing handling crying baby and woman who had a panic attack after takeoff. My meal was over nuked and scalding hot. When I informed the rear assistant she curtly replied - it has to be so I can probe it, left me with a burnt lip.
Wiber hard sell of own comprehensive insurance even though I paid for it to Jet2. Wiber told me I was not covered as it was 3rd party and felt forced to pay extra £140 for a week. Jet2 know about this problem but just pass complaints off as your responsibility for signing separate contract.

Booked through Jet 2 Record Go at…

Booked through Jet 2 Record Go at Alicante Airport taking out fully comprehensive insurance with Jet 2.
On arrival to collect vehicle we were subjected to hard sell to take out Record Go insurance at a further 300€ for two weeks.The agent told us that intermediary insurers cover would not cover us in the event of a breakdown and minor damage however slight would be charged against us.We were also told we would have to pay 84€ for a senior driver if we didn't take out their insurance.The whole experience spoilt our vacation.Another couple who were renting along side us were receiving the same hard sell.The hire car itself was good and the return procedure straight forward

Positive and friendly air line .

Very refreshing to experience a great service with very positive friendly crew.
No fuss check in with very helpful staff all very Willing to help at stansted airport.
No deliberate catches to con you out of money like most other budget airlines.
Definitely will book through jet 2 again .

Appalling service…

We booked a jet 2 flight to Sardinia for June. We also booked carhire through jet 2. We were informed that our flight would be departing 6 hours earlier going and coming. We contacted jet 2 car hire they referred us to car rentals. We were told we couldn't change the pick up time . All we could do was cancel and rebook at double the price. We contacted jet 2 by phone and Twitter. No one helped us. We weren't asking for longer just different times and the car was available. Appalling customer service

DEPOSIT NOT RETURNED!!!!

In October hired car through Jet 2 website. Click rent asked for a credit card and tried to take £1000 from us as deposit on arrival. We only had debit card so they took £250 instead. We returned car with no issues and they said deposit would be returned to Jet2. We have called and emailed Jet2. They said click rent have been given money back to us. We sent screen shots of our bank account to prove that we never received the deposit. No one is resolving this, C.E.O has ignored emails. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Will be contacting trading standards and Ombudsman.

Awful experience

Awful experience. Through one of their providers in Kefalonia we were supplied a sub standard car, with a child car seat woefully inadequate and unsafe. We took the car back the very next day after pick up, cancelled the car hire, and rented with someone else for safety reasons. Jet2 Car Hire want nothing to do with us now after raising numerous complaints and asking for a refund. All they want to do is shirk responsibility. They chose the car provider in the location, not us, and took our money for it. They should take responsibility to refund for a cancelled car hire due to child safety, truly shocking

Total SCAM

We booked with Jet2 car hire as we thought we were booking through a reputable company. They completely outsource the service and there is 0 interaction between them and the car hire companies, so basically when you turn up abroad and they’ve given your car away they just blame jet2, then you phone the numbers on the policies and they are deadlines which aren’t registered. Not only did the car hire company (BUDGET) give our car away but they left us in the airport at 21:45 with no car and all the car hire places closing up, we were very lucky to get another car from Hertz next door. They refused to help or give us any refund, I’ve tried to contact jet2 several times with no response from anyone, so I claimed the money back through my credit card, they disputed it and are trying to get the money back from me. I changed my credit card so they couldn’t claim the money back and they then sent me a ‘cancellation’ email telling me they had cancelled my hire car ‘2 months after my holiday btw) and that the charge for cancellation was the same as the cost of claimed back. That shows the lengths these awful ppl will go to try and get money out of you. AVOID!!!
