Very upsetting first experience ordering directly from Jellycat

I have bought Jellycat products before from independent shops and already have a much-loved collection. This was my first time ordering directly from Jellycat, partly because I wanted specific items and partly because I wanted to take part in their Purrks rewards programme.

Unfortunately, the experience has been extremely upsetting.

I placed an order for four items, including an Amuseables Hydrangea worth £60. When my parcel arrived, I opened it myself and only three items were inside. The Hydrangea was not in the parcel.

I contacted Jellycat straight away to explain that the item was missing. I expected this to be resolved fairly simply, either with a replacement or a refund for the missing item. Instead, the process became increasingly stressful and disheartening.

Jellycat told me that their warehouse team had reviewed CCTV and that the item had been packed. They later said the parcel weight matched the full order and that Royal Mail had confirmed the parcel was delivered sealed and intact. I understand they have internal processes to investigate claims, but none of this changes the fact that I did not receive the Hydrangea.

The parcel did not appear tampered with, and I opened it myself. There were only three items inside.

What has upset me most is not just the £60 loss, although that is a lot of money. It is the way the situation has made me feel. I am a teacher in a leadership position and have never had anything like this happen before. I have been completely honest throughout, but the tone of the response made me feel as though I was being doubted or treated with suspicion, rather than supported as a customer who had reported a genuine issue.

I was also advised that if I believed the item had been lost or removed after delivery, I could raise it with Royal Mail or local authorities. That was incredibly upsetting to read. I reported a missing item from an order, and the experience left me feeling as if the responsibility was being pushed away from the retailer entirely.

I had more items waiting in my basket and was genuinely excited to order directly from Jellycat again. After this experience, I no longer feel comfortable doing so. It has completely changed how I feel about buying directly from the brand.

I appreciate that Jellycat say they investigated the matter, and I am not disputing that they followed their internal process. However, from my side, I paid for four items and received three. The missing item cost £60, and I have been left without the product or a refund.

This has been a really disappointing and upsetting first direct ordering experience from a brand I previously loved.

Love love love Jellycat. Jellycat are amazing if you have any…

Jellycat are amazing if you have any issues you can phone them and speak to a real person which feels more personal and they sort any issues out. And if you email them you get a lovely personal message back such a lovely touch. I love all the Jellycats and with the extra touches that they provide with the perks it’s a proper journey 10 out of 10 they provide it all

Jellycats are adorable 😍

Great website, very easy to use and find the Jellycats that you are looking for.

The Jellycats themselves are absolutely adorable I love collecting them!

I do like the idea of the purks programme they have, however I just wish you didn't have to wait so long to buy from the purks store once you have got to the Ruby tier.

I like all of the jellycats, but… badges don’t work

I like all of the jellycats, but they are sooo expensive i can barely afford them. Also, with the badges you gain, sometimes they don’t show up like i shared my wishlist and i have at least 3 in each and it didn’t add. I also went on their social media and i have bought many in-store but it won’t let me leave a review for them. Bit stupid with the review thing really.
