I own a specialty cut flower farm that produces for florists and purchased some roses and shrubs to try out. I've emailed them three times about a hydrangea they sent that appears to have a fungus or a virus (or could be normal for the cultivar). As a fellow plant professional, I'd hope they'd respond when I send pictures of a plant that I'm bringing in from them to my farm that looks suspicious. I was even told the pictures were passed on and that someone would get back to me. It's been almost a month. After following up twice more, I've thrown away the hydrangea in order to avoid possibly infecting other plants on my farm in the meantime and still haven't heard anything. It's simply irresponsible (and rude and inexcusable) to do this to another grower (or a customer). The industry standard is to respond and provide a refund for infected plants. I don't recommend. Go to your local nursery. At least you might get a response.

Bought a Haas avocado tree which arrived in poor shape. Within a week it was dead. 99 for a stick that had no chance in Florida of all places.

Boy, have I tried to give these people the benefit of the doubt! But, 25 years is enough! I'm done!
These people have no clue what they are doing and they must be bumping into each other while doing it! They can't fulfill orders and always are having things canceled just before delivery, so there's no time to get anything else except locally and quickly. This time it was a VERY SPECIAL Mother's Day present for my 94-yr old mother who wanted this rose. I ordered in November! Two weeks before Mother's Day, they first said they would keep a little longer to grow it out, then exactly a week before Mother's Day, they cancel the order with a measly $10 certificate that is only good for 3 weeks! Any gardener with basic propagation experience knows if a plant will be ready months before the due date, not 1 week before. These people couldn't care any less about customers. I have had this consistently happen to me from these people and other errors and mistakes that were self-inflicted by their own poor business practices and I won't be trying again. It's too much disappointment either to try to get something from them and have it canceled at the last minute, without proper concessions, or after it arrives and it's either so poorly packaged that it's broken, or its so small that you could seriously win a fraud case! The left hand NEVER knows what the right hand is doing and they don't care to fix it or take care of customers. After over 25 years TRYING to conduct business with them, I'm done! They have gotten too ridiculous and too complacent with being this way. They are NO FRIEND of the gardening community, that's for sure! These are just business people trying to make a buck, but they are not doing what they should be to earn it. Mediocrity rules the day here!
UPDATE: In response to Jackson and Perkins, the problem has been me, for 25 years, from trying to do business with you and being sorely disappointed, and trying again. I'm going to see a psychiatrist to understand why I kept trying after the first 3 years!!

Their policies and procedures are killing these poor plants and I’ll never purchase from J& P again!
They never ever followed up on my orders. I got one rose of 6. Now I’m up north for the month and they just sent 150 worth of roses to die on my florida front porch in May foe a month. The ONLY notification I got was from PayPal for the 150 charge.
Roses are NOT planted innMAY in Southern Florida! and I won’t be back to send them back for a month!!! I never even got a confirmation of the order. But by God I got 200 marketing emails. No wonder they are bankrupt.

For 3 years I buy the plants with Jackson and Perkins and I am very happy. This company has shown me to be serious and their roses are exceptional.
I spent $80 on plants for my mom for mother's day. I ordered one ornamental grass, one sedum, and one daylily. I have personally ordered from here for myself many times and been happy. But my mom received her gift and sent me a picture, I was so embarrassed. They sent her a rotten daylily. It was a $25 daylily and it was rotten. I emailed them about it and they said they sent a replacement and my case was closed. Fast forward to three days ago when I received the replacement order at MY address instead of my mom's. I emailed them three days ago, and again two days ago. Nothing. No response at all this time. And the daylily they accidentally sent me was covered in mold as well. Jackson and Perkins has lost a loyal customer. I'm embarrassed that I sent such a poor quality gift and annoyed that customer service never got back to me when it was their mistake to send it to the billing address.

I wrote a review for the bella'roma rose being a slow grower and strangely after two weeks it still hasn't posted to the alleged "five star" review page. Also, the newest rose that I received from J/P, the white dawn, looks dead on arrival. I think I'm done with them and will stick to my nearest nursery.

SCAM! I ordered 2 citrus trees in February, with promised ship dates in April. I was charged and the funds cleared my account. With less than 2 weeks left in the month, I followed up to get tracking information on my order. After several calls adding up to hours of hold times, I was told my order was canceled and that I would receive a refund for my over $100 order. I asked why the order was canceled, and was told due to not being able to process the payment (which I made thru PayPal). This clearly didn’t make sense, since they said they will be refunding me. They quickly changed the story and said it was because they sold out & were now out of stock. They said I could reorder the citrus trees online & repay, when they were available again, but the cost of each tree increased $30 a piece. Customer service representative acted very strange and was overly empathetic and too willing to take my CC info over the phone, when I haven’t even received the original refund yet. This company appears to be a SCAM. The whole experience doesn’t sit right with me. I hope I see my refund. I ADVISE BUYER BEWARE!

My mother ordered me a bare root rose tree as a Christmas gift. Tree arrived and I planted it as per the directions next to some other super healthy roses. The rose never grew and began to die immediately. When I contacted JP I received a form letter that the issue had been closed. ???? After two more attempts to get information on how the issue had been resolved I learned that some genius at JP automatically refunded my Mother’s credit card and never offered me any options. When I wrote back to complain about this decision I was rewarded with the same form email that my issue had been closed. Definitely closed - more line slammed the door in my face!

What has happened to Jackson & Perkins? In the past they sold the most beautiful roses and were always delivered right on time. We moved to SW Utah where roses grow prolifically. We had been buying them from our nurseries here. However, due to the great service as well as quality of the the roses, we ordered from J&P in November. We were told they would be shipped at the end of March. End of March came and went. Another phone call to J&P, the message? They will be shipped out on March 15. Another deadline missed. Today, March 27, I called and was told they would be sent out in April! My roses in the ground were already fully leafed out! To addd insult to injury, the J&P representative said they were not due in our time zone until April! WRONG. I canceled the order. I ask again, "What has happened to Jackson & Perkins?" I am totally bummed!

I saw a milkweed plant on their website. I called and ordered it. When it arrived it was a bag of soil which supposedly contains a root somewhere and no instructions. I will pot the soil and nurture the little root and hope it becomes a milkweed plant since I purchased it to help monarch butterflies which lay their eggs on the underside of the leaves and are becoming endangered. Even a $4 tee shirt has a label with washing instructions. I will never deal with this company again. If I wanted a root I would have ordered one.

I ordered a dwarf avocado from this company to go with the avocados I've been growing from seed. They shipped it a full month after they said they would. It arrived and looked pretty awful - very dried out and frail, leaves were growing upside down as if their only source of light had been below them. I've never seen such a homely looking little tree. I transplanted it into a great soil for avocados and tried to nurse it back to health but it was too far gone and has since died. I have 3 others flourishing in the same soil and environment so that isn't the issue.
Very disappointing experience.
I cant believe J&P would lie about what they sell, it's not Christmas Cactus but Thanksgiving cactus, big difference. i even emailed Marina before ordering and i was assured it's the real thing because i know the difference. plant arrived much smaller and thinner than what is shown on their web site, pitiful. totally disappointed for over $100.00 with shipping from South Carolina to North Carolina. will not purchase from or recommend J&P ever again.
I ordered 4 rose bushes for a total of 142. Including shipping. What a mistake this has been. I received them and when opening the box everything was up side down with everything falling out all over the place. However what is
worse then that is 2 of the plants have a disease called black spots all over them. I sent an email with pictures the minute I unboxed them asking for a replacement now I simple want my money back. The respones I got was hurry and put them in the ground and use epson salt. Hello these plants have a fungus on them Epson salt is not going to cure that. It's been my experience once a rose bush has black spots it always will and it is a sickly plant. I grew up in maryland and always purchased Jackson and Perkins roses from Benkes nursery. Well unfortunately this placed has closed and Jackson & Perkins is not the company with the beautiful roses they once had. They claim the roses are disease resistant well with 2 of 4 with black spot fungus. They clearly are not resistant. So disappointing save your money and go else where these roses are not good quality nor is their customer service.
I have updated my rating to reflect a prompt response from J&P and being given a full refund.
I haven't ordered from J&P in quite a while and their quality has definitely gone down. I am honestly flabbergasted at how SMALL the two roses I received are. For $32 a piece, I would expect plants that are taller than 4 inches, all of the canes are thinner than a pencil. The Dianthus I received is bigger than the roses. Used to be they shipped large, blooming size plants. I certainly can't plant these into the containers they were meant to go into. Very disappointing.
(their description does say "2 Quart container" but these are not even fully rooted into the 2 quart container)

This company has a deceptive business practice of not disclosing sales taxes for online orders. You will confirm you order with zero sales tax but they will charge sales taxes to your credit card. Edit: Their response indicates that sales tax is shown in the total BUT IT WAS NOT.

Ok I don’t know why I bother to keep buying from J&P the plants are always super small and almost always die, the roses are over priced for bare root and almost never survive a winter, well this time I received dead plants they did give me merchandise credit I wanted plant replacement as the merchandise credit gets lost in the emails then I’m out the money, I tried to get them to extend my merchandise credit that expired 1 month ago, but guess what no go so I’m out about $60! I would not recommend buying seeds or plants from them I have already found other seed catalogs and roses to buy, I suggest others do the same.
If your roses grow, lucky for you. If it doesn't, forget their 1yr warranty.
We bought two roses, one grew after a couple of weeks, the other didn't. We emailed J & P and they responded right away recommending the use of a Epson salt solution and waiting 8 weeks. We did both and still no growth on the second rose. We emailed them and waited a week and received no reply. We waited another week and emailed them again. Still no reply. It was obvious that they were ignoring us.
I ordered 4 rose shrubs From these people planted them and 2 months later they are as dead as when I planted them. I emailed the company sent pictures of the dead shrubs that never grew and also sent the company pictures of live rose bushes I planted at the same time next to the dead Shrubs… still waiting on a response 💀Company has responded after posting and is sending a refund thank you

Shipped scrawny, nearly dead roses cross country in a major deep freeze. Very hard to get ahold of. After various negative posts, they finally reached out and issued credit. A more mature rose they shipped in the spring was satisfactory, but I can't give them more than 2 stars. They don't have their act together, product is uneven and customer service is lacking. Won't be ordering from them again.
