Pay attention to J&P's reviews

Pay attention to J&P's reviews - they are almost always 5s. I reviewed a rose bush I ordered (three actually of the same type) and two of the bushes died over winter. The remaining bush is not very hardy and the color is nothing like the description from the J&P site. Last time I will buy from their site. I rely on reviews to make my choices and now realize their reviews are really quite worthless since they only post positive ones.

Plants arrived in timely manner, but dead

Plants arrived in timely manner, but after a couple weeks it was apparent most were dead, others mostly dead. They're refusing to honor their satisfaction guarantee because I filled a claim with paypal.

Placed an order for 6 assorted rose bushes on 5/20. Order was shipped on 5/24 and delivered on 5/26. Great, right? Nope. When I opened the box, the bareroot roses were mostly black and molding! They had obviously been in storage for a long time and J&P were shipping out "the leftovers." Horrible experience. Customer service offered a partial refund. We will see what happens, but I will not order from them again.

I got 3 of their tea roses 130.00. Roses are dead and called them kept getting cut off. And was on hold than they come on and sano one is available to take my call after being on hold for 20 minutes. Never again. Used to be such a great company. Lost my business. Will never ever tell anyone to buy from them again.

Their roses are infested with spider mites. Both the original one that I bought and the replacement. Both died within a few days…but not before the first rose infected the rest of my plants. I have spent 6 months trying to get rid of the spider mites and they have destroyed all but a few plants.

Jackson & Perkins Customer Service is…

Jackson & Perkins Customer Service is beyond horrible!! Two weeks ago I ordered $214 worth of plants. I immediately received a confirmation of the order but nothing since! I called Customer Service twice, 5-days apart. Both times I spoke with the same CS Rep who seemed clueless and kept repeating the same mantra both time, that my order should ship within 5 days. Well, it's been way more than 5-days and still nothing.
Don't waste your time with these clowns, they are worse than frustrating, they are infurriating.

This company used to be great

This company used to be great. They are terrible now. Customer service must have been outsourced. Can’t understand them. After I placed at $200 order, I heard nothing back from them. Called twice, first person said they were being shipped. Second person said they were out of stock until beginning of March. No communication from them about back order. Finally I canceled the whole thing out of frustration. I didn’t know what happened to this company but I’m not ordering from them again.

Orders Not Fulfilled as Promised

I placed 4 orders for amaryllis totaling $435.56 to be delivered to friends for Thanksgiving. Two of the four orders arrived on time. The other two were not delivered as of today (11/30). I sent an inquiry through their website but never received a response. I then called and spoke to Matt who offered to send out the missing amaryllis. Jackon and Perkins does not value its customers enough to take the time to respond to customers' inquiries. One must take the time to follow-up with them. Otherwise, they will not make the time to respond. I do have to commend Matt for helping to resolve this issue

They shipped my roses a month early for my zone!

I ordered climbing roses for my arbor. I ordered in late winter 2022 to be shipped at "the proper planting date for my area." This particular rose sells out early so I wanted to get my order in.

I was surprised when the roses arrived a full month before my date of last frost. Our ground was still frozen. I contacted the company and told them I would try to keep them alive until they could go in the ground.

My son and I planted them as per the instructions and waited hoping for the best. And we waited... When it became clear the roses were not going to take root, I contacted the company. I was told it was past their 90 day warranty and could only offer a credit, not refund. Because they shipped my roses over a month early, I did not trust them to purchase again so a credit is unsatisfactory. I intended to shop elsewhere. All my money is lost.

**Be aware that their warranty is only ninety days, not the usual one year of other perennial plant vendors and they will not ship at the proper time for your your zone. In my 70 years of gardening I have never known of a plant vendor who did not understand the significance of proper planting zones and not stand by their responsibility to provide the customer proper service for their very expensive roses.

Please find a company that cares.

I ordered a Sterling Silver Rose for our 25th wedding anniversary. I have waited years to have a garden to finally order one. It arrived, had pink flowers and thorns. I gave it to the neighbor as I avoided thorns on all my plants due to blood thinners and I'm not into pink.
Contacted and was credited the cost. No sterling silver for the season available so I ordered a hydrangea and a couple ground covers...wow. the saddest plants through mail order I have ever received to date. I don't think they are going to make it.
So many other sites for online order, go to them. From the 8 others sites I have used almost all my orders are blooming and growing healthy in my yard and plants were exactly as I ordered. I have no intentions of contacting this company for help in correcting thier mistakes for the 2nd time. I'll just advise other against using them.

Avoid at all Costs

I've been a customer of J&P for decades and always trusted their plants and roses. For the past 4 years their products and customer service has declined drastically. 4 yrs ago I purchased several rose hedges and several hydrangea and only half grew. They were delivered with black leaves and bone dry. I didn't learn my lesson until this year. I purchased well over 1200.00 in plants for new landscaping in our backyard. We were planting an English cottage garden. I received a quarter of my shipment dead. I immediately called and spoke to a rude young lady who took a message and someone was to call me back. Waiting 2 days I called back and asked to speak to a manager, of course the manager was in a meeting and would call me in an hour. No one called me back. I called the next day and the original young lady from earlier said the manager will reimburse me for dead plants and disconnected the phone call, the mgr never came to the phone. I received mismarked plants that you don't even know are mismarked until they grow. And if you try and contact J&P after a certain time, they are closed for July and August. I received white roses that should have been yellow. I received hostas that should have been geraniums. I received yellow ground cover that should have been blue. I have 4 geraniums that never grew. I received a rose that was covered in black spots that died. A total of 600.00 in plants that had major issues but couldn't contact J&P because they were closed. And of course I emailed at their info@jacksonandperkins but no response.
I was forced by this site to give at least 1 star. I would have given J&P minus 5 for their product and non existing customer service. This is not the Jackson and Perkins that was reputable. I'm not new at gardening and other roses/trees/plants I've purchased have grown beautifully You pay top dollar at J&P plus high shipping costs. Please avoid this company. You have better luck buying local. You will not get the beautiful roses or flowers you see on their website.

They sent me a $90.00 dried up bare root dead straw.

They sent me a $90.00 dried up bare root tree this spring. It didnt come out of dormancy and never grew a leaf. Now they wont respond to emails.

Dont waste your time and aggravation. Shop somewhere else. And read reviews of the business before you purchaee. I will from now on. Any business that has as many 1 star reviews as 5 star will not get my futire business. And J&P will never get any future business of mine.

J&P roses are not what they used to be - I wasted >$300

Update 8/16/22: I am increasing to three stars. I did receive a full refund as J&P promised. The stars will remain low because my rose garden is a huge disappointment.

24-36 years ago I had the most FABULOUS J&P rose garden. I selected the roses I wanted by browsing a local J&P test garden. I purchased approximately 30 br plants from local nurseries. The roots were packed in wet sawdust and sealed in heavy plastic. All survived and did excellent. We enjoyed full bouquets in every room throughout the summer.
Recently, we relocated back to the Pacific NW and I was excited to plan another rose garden. I studied the J&P online catalogue and selected 8 roses. Very disappointed with the packaging and shape of the plants. Many broken roots and canes and only some we paper. 4 had to be replaced because they appeared dead after a month (only one I had selected was still available by that time). I insisted one of the climbers be replaced because what I received (for $40) was a tiny thing in a 4 in pot that I could have picked up at the corner grocery! Customer service was okay to deal with but weary and disappointed to get the plants in the ground so late. Here I am 2-3 months later and so far, 6 of the eight are not the rose I ordered. I planned my garden for color (purple, salmon, yellow, dark red, soft pink...) and fragrance too. What I ended up getting is a rose garden with a variety of pink roses from violet/pink to magenta. It's like J&P slapped tags on un-sold roses to get them out the door. The yellow hasn't boomed yet so it will be interesting to see how it comes out. After month of planning and waiting, my lovely rose garden is a huge disappointment which is also how I feel about J&P. From now on, I will only purchase from a local nursery.

Should have thrown $$ directly in compost to save time.

Bought 2 roses during a sale event and neither grew, the little buds never grew. I followed instructions and they just turned black slowly from up the canes. I successfully planted 2 prolific David Austin roses without any issues previously. Even walmart bare root ones did better. First and last time I will buy. And I'm out $$

Go to your local nursery instead

I own a specialty cut flower farm that produces for florists and purchased some roses and shrubs to try out. I've emailed them three times about a hydrangea they sent that appears to have a fungus or a virus (or could be normal for the cultivar). As a fellow plant professional, I'd hope they'd respond when I send pictures of a plant that I'm bringing in from them to my farm that looks suspicious. I was even told the pictures were passed on and that someone would get back to me. It's been almost a month. After following up twice more, I've thrown away the hydrangea in order to avoid possibly infecting other plants on my farm in the meantime and still haven't heard anything. It's simply irresponsible (and rude and inexcusable) to do this to another grower (or a customer). The industry standard is to respond and provide a refund for infected plants. I don't recommend. Go to your local nursery. At least you might get a response.
