Total nightmare 1 star is even too much
Total nightmare and 2 months after my formal complaint I haven’t received a response let alone a refund. Each time
I send a reminder I have a different person not reading the previous emails and lacking the bare minimum common sense or skills.
IKEA does not response to the complaints via consumerombudsman (Belgium)
I would like to add a follow-up for IKEA Belgium again |:
===================
IKEA does not respect the customers who give money/food to eat
tres mauvias ikea, ikea beligium does not respect the customers who give food/money to eat. Even dogs are loyal to their master. But not IKEA, the problem with i think Belgium become so poor, state taxing 40-50% of income tax still, healthcare is not reimboursing or so little + even public schools are not 100% free, paying 150 EUors/years + canteen + sport etc.., food is exteremely expensive compare to France for example even at big super market.
And IKEA is offering some furnitures with considerable cheap price with low quality so people have no other choice than purchasing the cheap and very bad quality ikea products so IKEA is taking the opportunity out of the situation. They dont do delivery as they said even after 2 times of replanification, delivery is not done. Officially IKEA said they deliver till 20h00, in reality the trasporters no longer deliver after 5 PM. Then you call their customer support : at least 30-40min wating, then you explain the situation, then they re-plan the delivery for next day , then the next day , the transporters do not deliver because command arrive later than 5PM, so they will ask you to re-plan the delivery this time 3 days later.
Never buy auything at all at IKEA because they dont respect you. They are (IKEA owers) are taking the opportunites of economic hardship, IKEA owners have ZERO respect for the customers who give them food to eat. The IKEA owners are very rich by insulting, outraging their customers.
The IKEA Business/people do not know how to respect those who give them food/money to eat. Their mental and physchological thinking is much far Lower than DOGs.
Dogs are loyal to their masters/those who give them food to eat, but not IKEA; downwith IKEA business.

I filed a complaint on the website of " consumerombudsman.compman.be", they have already informed Ikea Belgium and reported me that if no response from Ikea they can do nothing. And they informed for the second time about 2 weeks after with following email:

Unfortunately, we have not yet received a response from the company. In accordance with our procedure, we have sent a reminder.
If we receive no response or cooperation from the company, we will be forced to close the file. Mediation can only succeed with the cooperation of both parties.

Ikea does not care at all those who purchased the products at their shop. However, I will continue to file my complaint so that i will get my compensation if necessary, i will also go to the Tribunal.
IKEA refuses full refund, been fighting them for months
Three months ago I returned some non-functioning products to the store for a refund. I only got a partial refund. The part of my purchase that I paid with rewards was not refunded. I have called customer service 5 times for a total of 90 minutes on the phone. Each time I was promised my rewards back, but they never came. I have written a formal complaint. Same answer. It's now been three months since I brought the products back to the store, and I am still waiting for that refund. Today I have opened a complaint against IKEA at the economic inspection and one at the consumentenombudsdienst. If that doesn't work I'll file a complaint with the police. All this trouble, for a store that sells items of increasingly questionable quality. I wonder how I ever called myself a fan of this store. Never again. Avoid IKEA. There are better alternatives.
Repeated missed deliveries and poor communication
I had a very disappointing experience with IKEA’s delivery service over the past two weeks.
It started with an incomplete delivery with missing items, followed by multiple split deliveries that required me to stay at home for three days.
The situation worsened with a sofa delivery scheduled for 17/03/2026. The delivery was missed without any communication, and I had to contact both the transport company and IKEA myself. The rescheduled delivery on 18/03/2026 was also missed, resulting in another full day waiting at home.
The sofa was finally delivered on 21/03/2026 after multiple failed attempts.
In total, I spent at least five days waiting at home, experienced two missed delivery appointments, and paid around €130 in delivery fees for a service that was not carried out as expected.
While customer service acknowledged the issue, the compensation offered (€50 voucher) does not reflect the level of inconvenience.
Overall, a very disappointing experience.
Order cancelled after one day – completely unreasonable
I had a confirmed pickup for my order (1585156650) scheduled on February 27, 2026, with a valid timeslot and personal pickup code.
Despite this, IKEA cancelled my order without any proper explanation and is now returning the item, even though it was already prepared and ready for collection.
In reality, I was given only one effective day to pick up my order before it was cancelled. The pickup was scheduled on a Friday, followed by the weekend (including Sunday), yet no reasonable time was given.
This is completely unreasonable and shows very poor coordination between their systems and logistics. Confirming an order and then cancelling it like this is extremely frustrating and unacceptable.
I do not recommend relying on their click & collect service.
IKEA selfscan humiliation
I have been to IKEA Zaventem twice recently. First time the machine took me out for a random check and I was checked by an aggressive unfriendly girl. I saw her again today and went to another line hoping for better. Alas, I apparently did not scan correctly and another aggressive girl came up intimidating me. It is really bad. Rude staff making you feel stupid and dishonest. Makes me very sad.😢 IKEA should train staff in customer service.
Extremely disappointed for poor quality for a premium price VATNESTRÖM mattress
I purchased the VATNESTRÖM mattress from IKEA Zaventem after careful research, trusting the brand and the product’s use of sustainable materials. I chose the most expensive model in the range, assuming the higher price would reflect higher quality. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a complete catastrophy.
As a side sleeper, I followed the in-store staff’s recommendation and selected the medium firmness. Within just a few weeks, the mattress began sagging in the middle. This is not due to misuse, I am not overweight, and my use has been entirely normal. Despite being nearly new, the mattress is already causing discomfort and pressure sores. This level of deterioration is unacceptable, especially for a so-called premium product.
To make matters worse, I reached out to customer service weeks ago, and the response has been slow and unsatisfactory. I expected proper support for a clearly defective item, including a return and replacement as per IKEA’s service commitments, but no meaningful action has been taken.
This has been a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. A mattress at this price point should offer lasting support and comfort. IKEA needs to take responsibility for the poor quality of this product and the lack of effective customer service. I’m leaving this review to warn others: do not be misled by the high price or eco-friendly branding. This mattress does not meet even basic expectations of durability or comfort.
Same delivery mistake three times... and counting
I ordered a non-folded mattress (140x200) from IKEA, along with a few other items, including curtain hangers for my new apartment.
I paid 130 EUR for special delivery to have everything brought to my third-floor apartment on the day I moved in.
IKEA never asked about my stairs, the size of my stairs, my elevator size, or whether I even had one.
I met their only condition — living on the third floor — so I expected everything to go smoothly.
On the delivery day (Tuesday, July 30), I stayed home from work, waiting for a two-hour delivery window.
No external lift. IKEA hadn’t asked about the size of my stairs, the size of my building elevator, or even whether my building had an elevator in the first place, so the delivery was a complete failure.
The delivery team took everything back, including my curtain hangers, since IKEA doesn’t allow partial deliveries.
The delivery was rescheduled for Monday, August 4 (five days later). I missed another workday, but again, no external lift.
I called IKEA and spent almost an hour on the phone. The agent reassured me it would be sorted next time, but the earliest delivery would be Friday, August 8. He even sent me an invoice confirming "external lift included."
On Friday, after almost two weeks sleeping on the floor, I stayed home again. All my other furniture arrived, but once again, the delivery arrives without a external lift.
Even the delivery drivers couldn’t believe this was happening again.
At this point, it felt like a joke.
I called IKEA again and spent 1.5 hours on hold, but no one picked up. I wrote an email explaining everything, giving them a chance to resolve it before I went public — but they ignored me.
On Monday, I sent a registered letter.
The next day, they offered me a voucher.
Now, it’s Thursday evening. I’ve slept on the floor for almost three weeks. I have no curtain hangers (I had to buy expensive temporary ones from Brico that barely work), and I’ve wasted countless hours on the phone with IKEA customer support, listening to their hold music.
The stress and frustration are overwhelming, and I feel completely disrespected — especially after being a loyal IKEA customer for many years.
I gave IKEA another ultimatum, but they’ve ignored me again.
I’m also concerned about the condition of the mattress after being transported so many times.
They have ignored my latest emails and unilaterally decided the delivery will be on Saturday (I received an automatic email), so once again I’m changing my plans to stay at home.
Stop using Rhenus - SCAM company
Either they don't show up on time or they do what they did today and scam you out of money and time!
Driver called me at 6:57 in the morning and expected me to pick up immediately! And when i didn't - he cancelled the delivery today.
Why do you expect me to answer my phone within 15 seconds? And then if i don't your driver has his phone in voice-mail mode! Excuse me, am i allowed to take a shower? WHAT IS THIS SERVICE FOR 100 EUROS ???
Now this scummy company will charge us extra for their annoying behavior. Also their drivers and service are rude and unprofessional. They create problems every time and behave like jerks.

Click and collect not available, Ikea does not care
Second time I order something at Ikea Zaventem through Click and Collect, second time the order is not available when I am at the store to pick up the order. That's a 100% failure rate.
Last time, I went back to the store the next day to pick up my order and I did not make a fuss out of it. Mistakes can happen. I still wrote customer service but they could not care less.
This time, same thing happened. I wrote customer service again, first agent told they would make it up to me with a home delivery, I confirmed, then second agent replied it was not possible and I should come back to the store to pick up my order, they would plan it again. As if I had nothing better to do than going to Ikea to see if by coincidence they prepared my order!
Never again... They don't care about their customers.
Don't Buy Ikea!
Made a 2k euro order on 9/05/2025
Delivery date 02/06/2025
After 4 planned deliveries and 3 Times that the delivery truck made it to my home i cancelled the whole order and here is why.
VPD(Subcontractor)
First delivery date : Didn't show up causing me to have to ask for a refund for the assembly service.
2nd Delivery Date: Got attacked by one of the employees. Left with order.
3rd Delivery date: Arrived Late, claimed to need a Lift. Left with order.
4th Delivery date: Arrived a day to early, no lift present. Claimed the windows are to small and a lift won't work, eventhough the previous delivery day they claimed they needed it and he had looked at everything. Cancelled order after that.
Customer Service Ikea: After 5-6 calls and explaining the situation over and over again it's safe to say that the communication and help given was severely lacking and I've repeatedly stated a lift won't work and that the staircase is the only way to get it to where it has to go. They pretend to help you but in reality they don't communicate with their subcontractor, causing the delivery to be eather to late or to early. They don't communicate to the delivery driver any changes in the planning. The whole experience was a huge failure a lot of frustration and headache. I'm amazed that they aren't bankrupt yet. I will never buy at ikea again. They promise a lot but their website is full of lies. Their services are lacking and what should have been a easy and worry free order, was a total nightmare. They claim to deliver to the 3rd floor up to 500kg by the stairs, this is wrong. They don't. (My delivery was 325kg+-They'll ask you to get a lift and the next appointment tell you the lift won't help. They'll beat you up and after 15Days i gave up. Cause the delivery wasn't delivered and it looked like it wasn't going to happen any time soon. If I didn't cancel I'm sure it would have taken forever. Please don't buy here, in my opinion they don't care at all about your delivery, they don't take pride in their work and don't have any clue what their doing. 15 days after the first delivery and 39 days after the order and I'm still sitting here with no furniture in my new home.
IKEA delivery is a SCAM!
Recently I moved into a new apartment with no lift and no outside windows. So I thought I’d order in IKEA and get everything delivered to the apartment on the 3rd floor and I did. The delivery was estimated on 19th of May, I had my day off that day and thought would be good but to my surprise, once the order placed, it was divided into two parts, small stuffs were planned to be delivered on 19th but the furnitures were planned to be delivered on 20th when I was supposed to be working. I took a day off from work and stayed the whole day at home to receive the order. It came at 7pm and delivery operators refused to deliver to the apartment because on the paper he had from IKEA was written on the GF (ground floor). I contacted IKEA and they said, there was a problem with the IT department and they were sorry and offered me a 50€ voucher for the day I lost and planned a new day for delivery and it was today (morning of 24th of May) and I had to take another day off from work and wait for it at home. It came at 9h30 with the same problem. GF written on the fre*king paper. As usual delivery guys left. I contacted IKEA again, waited 20 minutes to be connected and finally the person received my phone had more to say than listen to and it made me furious. I had to put him in his place and explain everything, was proposed another voucher for the lost day of work. I cancelled my order to feel good because I felt betrayed by IKEA.
The whole thing was a nightmare. Now, I must wait for my money to be refunded. All I can say is that IKEA delivery is a SCAM. Beware people!
I’ll make another review once the whole circus is over!
I’d give them give a negative 5 STAR if it was possible.
Lift service of IKEA delivery
IKEA charged me 100 euros for a lift service to deliver a large and heavy sofa. The delivery was made with very poor quality to the street level, and without any lift! I have been writing multiple times to IKEA customer service for more than two months asking for a refund, but so far there has been no refund.
Very disappointing
I made a purchase online, among other things a Ikea 365+ frying pan. I cannot use it. No matter what you put in it, it get completely stuck. I contacted through my account with CS to return it. Did not hear back from them. Very disappointing, specially comparing with Amazon returns and refunds. Never again
Click and collect not efficient
Waited for 1h30 to retrieve my package that I pre-ordered and went just to collect. Their monitors we're always pushing other orders on top and the first person of the staff I asked was very unfriendly and not helpful.
Had to wait some more and ask another one that helped and my package was there the whole time.
IKEA thieves…
I am stunned at the lack of customer service and aggressive kitchen fitter whom IKEA have acknowled he shouldn't have asked for £1,000 cash after I had already paid him £1,500. I don't have the correct parts for the kitchen to finish it. They have sent me repeatedly wrong parts so my independent kitchen fitter can't complete. When you call you are put through to various people and nothing gets resolved. My friend is looking to install a kitchen and I have advised her to go with HOWDENS as I have been advised they are good units, send all parts and don't pass you around when parts are missing.
Worst service ever
When the total delivery is wrong and incomplete, 3 people wasted a half day for nothing, but at least we got meal vouchers as compensation and got to pay 100€ more to re-deliver and assemble next week🙈 How to not treat customers by IKEA
Update one day later: received a call from Ikea after having paid the assembly cost immediately yesterday, which they ordered me to do by mail. Message of today: we know we charged you but we cant assemble, we will refund your assembly cost.
I explained that to me this was the last drop and asked them to pick everything back up and refund the total. As I paid for the complete cupboard incl baskets etc, delivery and after their incorrect delivery, also assembly for the next attempt. She said: sure, let me arrange this for you and then we lost connection.
Then I called their complaints department and explained everything. They said; I can see you cancelled assembly. Err, no Ikea did and called me to let me know. I want a total refund and pickup of all your stuff. Lost connection again coincidentally. No call back.
Bad replacement of factory defective parts
Purchased 2 pcs of drawer front, received both with factory defects. They organized a pick-up and delivery of replacement on my address, but only delivered one piece. No way to contact them apart from going to the shopping center. So, no follow up on my particular claim.
Refund delayed
Made an order for click and collect and I noticed afterwards that I put the wrong time. I couldn't change it so I cancelled the order. I received a confirmation of cancellation with a promise that I will be refunded within 14 days (which is already pretty long especially for a 2.000 eur order). After 14 days i contacted customer service as the money hadn't arrived. Turns out the refund had not been "launched" and the operator launched it manually. Big Surprise, i now have to wait again up to 14 days. What kind of joke is this?
NEVER CANCEL ORDERS, especially of higher amounts, be very careful before placing them!!!
