Discrimination against some UK citizens

With a heavy heart, I’ve transferred funds away from ii. It’s a shame because the platform is great and I can’t fault the individuals I’ve spoken to, but their decision to ban some types of British citizens (those unfortunate enough to have been born with Russian/Belarusian citizenship) from having a functional investment account or SIPP is completely unnecessary. They cite “EU sanctions”, but there is nothing in those to prevent (longtime!) UK tax resident, British citizens from holding UK-domiciled funds. Nothing. So, onto a platform that doesn’t make you feel like a second class citizen in your own country. I hope things will change.

We understand your concerns regarding account restrictions and the frustration this has caused. You’re right that EU regulations affecting Russian and Belarusian nationals and the way our trading systems operate mean that customers are impacted. This is because we use European banks for funds and international securities, so we have to comply with their requirements.

We haven’t asked affected customers to close their accounts but we understand that these regulations may mean we’re not the platform for you, and we’re sorry if that is the case.

I had a name mismatch which was preventing bank transfers, and have been trying to sort it out for a couple of weeks now to no avail. After making multiple calls I finally spoke to Ariana who sorted the issue that no one else from customer service could, and did so very quickly as well as being incredibly polite and easy to talk to! Very very good experience!

it is simple to buy shares in UK Europe, America Asiia and other countries.
they answer the phone quickly and deal with enquires well.

I would like to thank Joseph Kelly for exceptional customer service

I would like to thank Joseph Kelly for his help and support over the past two to three months.
During this time, I had a number of queries and issues relating to the new fee structure, the operation of linked family accounts, transferring money between those accounts, and the use of mobile phone authentication. One particularly challenging situation involved contacting my daughter, who was working overseas and only had access to WhatsApp and email, making it difficult for her to confirm a transfer of money to another family account by phone.
This was a stressful and frustrating period, but Joseph took ownership of the issues and worked tirelessly to find practical and pragmatic solutions. He coordinated with multiple teams within ii and remained committed to resolving each problem until a satisfactory outcome was achieved.
Joseph has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrates genuine empathy. He was a pleasure to work with throughout the process. His persistence, professionalism, and dedication resulted in exceptional customer service, which is unfortunately quite rare these days.
Joseph is a real asset to the organization, and I am extremely grateful for all of his assistance. Thank you, Joseph, and please keep up the excellent work.

Faris Sarwar was very helpful. Indeed any time I contact II there is someone helpful. In sharp contrast to AXA and other companies who are replacing their staff with AI bots which are unbelievably useless. AI's day may come (at the moment it is the Artificial Stupidity) but it has a LOT of ground to make up to get anywhere even remotely close to a human being.
