Brilliant Mead, Brilliant Customer Service

Always love buying mead from Horns of Odin, but this time it was the customer service which excelled. The delivery company disappointing left my package where they were not supposed to, resulting in it being stolen. Niamh was beyond amazing, getting a new package sent out within the day and changing the address to ensure it would arrive. So supportive and helpful throughout.

A review of the service as much the product

Received one of their horns as a birthday gift and it is a wonderful Drinking vessel, made of real horn and coated with Beeswax inside for a more natural finish. Never owned another horn so can't comment on if they are better than others out there but what I can say is their after sales service is immaculate. I'd made an error with cleaning the horn and managed to scratch the wax coating inside, I tried to fix it but frankly made it massively worse. Frantically I emailed them asking if they can reline it, expected it to cost me (but cheaper than replacement), email back within 24hr saying they'd get me a label and I can send it for repair. Posted Monday, by Saturday I had my drinking horn back as good as new and a nice cloth bag to store it in too. I would 100% buy from here again and would encourage others to do so.

Fantastic experience & quality

10/10 - product (beanie) of very good quality, shipped quickly, good price, and super responsive customer service.

I made a mistake on the website & occurred a double charge, N. on customer service was super reactive & helpful and sorted it out for me that same day despite it being my own fault.
Will definitely order again from them.

Warning - They Hide Bad Reviews

I left an open and honest review after my purchase of some beard jewellery from Horns of Odin.

However, it seems they did not like me being so honest, and so they have now rejected my review - I received an email a on 20th July telling me my review has been removed for the following reason: "seems fake"

I went back to them asking how it could be fake when they know they fulfilled an order for me - but surprise surprise - no response.

Therefore, here' s my review of the Horns of Odin Beard Beads that they sell.

Took an excessive amount of time to be 'produced' and shipped. More than 2 weeks later I was still waiting. They have since added a line to the item page to say that orders can take up to 2 weeks). Oddly enough, when I complained, it was suddenly available to ship.

On arrival, I was not overly impressed with the jewellery - it was fairly unimpressive, with some basic engravings that didn't look as good as they did in the site photos. There was also a noticeable seam on the beard bead.

I have received the exact same item (only far better quality) from Temu and Ali Express at a fraction of the price (circa £2, as opposed to the £9.50 Horns of Odin are charging).

A more cynical person might suspect they aren't making these in the UK at all, and are instead buying them in from China (hence the long 'production' time).

The fact they removed my negative review on the grounds that it's 'fake' speaks volumes though.

Thanks for your review, let me clear up a few of these points. Firstly, we don't "hide negative" reviews. We use a third party app called "Fera" which allows customers to review their orders and collects them automatically for approval. It's a completely automated system. For some reason (which I'll look into - but possibly because it's been almost 12 months since dispatch) it's flagged yours as seeming fake. If you'd like to leave it again, I'll happily auto approve it.

Secondly, the beard beads you bought are entirely handmade to order and this has been on our website, and in the item description for the past 10 years - the time we have worked with local artist Anna McDade. Here is Anna's website you can check the designs and style for yourself - https://annamcdade.co.uk/. Please feel free to contact Anna to confirm she produces the beard beads for us.

I'm sorry that you found the "carvings" to be poor, but again - as per the product description - these beard beads aren't carved, they're chemically etched to get the design into the material. The "seam" is a product of being handmade as they are produced as a flat piece and then hand soldered. These are not cast.

If you'd me photos of the ones you've purchased on Temu or AliExpress that are "exactly the same", I'd like to speak with the suppliers who have taken our own designs. Please could you send them to: dan@hornsofodin.com

We do appreciate that you may have missed that some of our jewellery items are handmade to order. Along with the unreasonable precedent for next day delivery set by Amazon. However, we are a small UK based independent brand, and are proud to support local artists through offering their work in our shop, even if - in your opinion - they take an "excessive time to make".

We do also offer full refunds if customers aren't fully happy and contact us within 14 days of receiving their item

Brilliant customer service

Brilliant customer service. I placed an order as a wedding gift, it says that it can take up to 4wks for the product to be crafted and delivered which was just enough time. As the date got closer I became a little worried so I emailed the company. They responded straight away, understood my anxiety and they made arrangements for my item to be dispatched that very day. The presentation was really nice and the gifts very well received ☺️

customer service is utterly amazing

customer service is utterly amazing, Niamh was so pleasant throughout my enquiry and was so quick with sorting everything out for me. I ordered Odins Seax and cannot wait for it to arrive to gift to my boyfriend who is a massive Vikings fan. I would not hesitate to order from here again, what a lovely company.

Drinking horn(engraved)

Hi. I ordered a horn with rune carvings of my daughters name her husbands name and date of marriage.
Other then it taking a little longer then first stated(I panicked a bit due to needing it for specific date) but understand how busy a business can be.
I was amazed and very very pleased with the finished horn. A beautiful horn(responsibly sourced) was chosen for me and beautiful engraved.
Absolutely fantastic and will use again as well as recommend.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Fantastic Experience with Horns of Odin!
I recently had the pleasure of purchasing from Horns of Odin in Huddersfield, and I can honestly say this was a great shopping experiences. I bought two men's tops, two different bottles of mead, and some beautifully hand-forged jewellery and every single item exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and craftsmanship.
What truly sets Horns of Odin apart, though, is their outstanding customer service. I needed my items quickly, and they went above and beyond to accommodate me, allowing me to collect my order directly from their warehouse. On top of that, they even offered for me to come back at a later date to view their selection of axes before making a purchase so I could see the quality firsthand before using one in a Viking-inspired survival challenge. That level of care and dedication to their customers is rare and greatly appreciated.
I’ve seen some negative reviews floating around on TripAdvisor, but honestly, ignore them. These reviews do not reflect the true experience of dealing with this fantastic small business. If you’re after fast, mass-produced items, stick to auction sites. But if you value authenticity, craftsmanship, and a company with a real Viking vision, Horns of Odin is the place for you.
I will definitely be back for more, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality, hand-crafted Viking-inspired goods. Thank you, Horns of Odin, for such a brilliant experience!

I've been searching high and low for a…

I've been searching high and low for a seax to go with my Serpent Breath sword display, when l came across Ivar's Seax on Horns of Odin. Okay, so the hilt wasn't correct for Wasp Sting, but the rest of the seax is perfect.
Extremely well made and solid, beautiful horn handle and expertly made heavy leather scabbard....plus it was honed to perfection.
Ordered on Thursday afternoon, delivered on Saturday morning...for free!! AND l got 10% off...what's not to like?!
Highly recommended.

This review concerns the order and…

This review concerns the order and follow up process. I haven’t received the horn but take hope in it being a good piece of work based on other reviews.

I ordered a horn as a gift on Nov 15. Still not received. There has been no communication or follow up initiated from the Horns team during this time - so far I have sent 14 chaser emails asking for status (a couple have been answered) and am no further. Horns advised on Jan 27 they had sent to Royal Mail to deliver but tracking is empty (Royal Mail have not got the parcel). Am still chasing Horns.

Am still living in hope a beautiful piece of craftsmanship will arrive in time for the next Christmas gift to this recipient. But increasingly worried I’ve been scammed.

Bjorn Sax

Recieved my Sax today and very happy with what I purchased. I have been looking to buy a functional sax as opposed to a reenactment toy being I study martial arts. Authentic in design and is well balanced with great craftsmanship. Further fast delivery using a trusted courier Royal Mail.

Beautiful horn

The Horn looks beautiful❤️ and is really nice quality. but I was promised to get my order before xmas (i ordered 15.11. And my order came 27.1.

I get that’s its handmade and it takes time to make, but unfortunately I ended up without Xmas gift. So I recommend the product but it takes time to arrive.

Unfortunately your parcel was stopped and held by customs. Sadly we can't do anything about this and we are as frustrated as yourself.

As a company we can only ship items out within a timeframe, we have no control over couriers and customs offices. Believe me, I wish we did!

We have tried to keep you updated and let you know the status of the parcel when you have requested. So, it is disappointing to see a negative review for something sadly that is out of our control. And as soon as we know more (like the parcel being shipped back or delivered) we would do anything we can to make sure you get what was ordered

Do not use unless you can wait 3 months

Really really not happy with this company and it's such a shame as the products look amazing and great gift if we didn't have this experience we would of continued using.
To start there was an admin error on the website which they admitted to via email when question through the customer service team, we where expecting the order before Christmas but due the error we where told it will be delivered at the beginning of the new year so was expecting it by 5th January but yet still no sign I contacted them back asking if this hasn't been sent yet can it be deliver to a different address as it was meant to be a Christmas present, in which they replied yes not a problem, sent over the address but three weeks later turned up at the original address.

I think this company has extreme admin issues and possible staff issues if the messages aren't being passed over.

When we ordered it 30th November so you'd think that was plenty of time to process an order, pack and ship but clearly not, even though the product was in stock and delivery at the checkout was 3-5 working days.

I just don't understand why it was such a long process and for them to still get it wrong. Unacceptable really.

Thank your for your review, I have actually just sent you a long detailed email as well.

Firstly, I would like to explain the item your ordered. You ordered a drinking horn. These are hand crafted by us on site. We don't buy these in finished. We source the raw material and through a time consuming process reach the end product. This is why it takes longer. In the item description in red and bold, the lead time of 4 weeks is clearly displayed. As well as pictures and videos showing our process.

Your order was placed on the 30th November. Which was 6 days AFTER our cut off for Christmas delivery. Again these dates were (and still are) very clearly displayed on the header of every page and the checkout page. We are sorry that you missed this.

You claimed that we sent you a dispatch email, but when asked to send us it, your forwarded us your confirmation email. We have no record on out back end of a shipment email false triggering, but please send it to dan@hornsofodin.com if you do have it.

You did change the shipping address, which we took note of and shipped to. Your tracking number was sent and it looks as thought it was delivered on the 16th Jan.

We do apologise for the delay in shipment, and the time it takes for us to produce our items. But we will continue to hand make them locally.

We acknowledge that at times our customer service can be lacking as we are a small team, we can be guilty of focusing on production and shipment over replies which can take longer than we would like. This is something we are making changes on going forward.

4 months delivery - zero communication

Ordered in September, arrived in January. No communication, no explanation why it took so long. They even told me it was being sent on 18th December, and only on 2nd January had it even arrived ready to be sent across country - I know christmas happened in between but saying its ready, before shipping it 2 weeks later, is pretty naughty.
The quality of the horn is great, the custom name on it, there is a big gap between the first 2 letters which makes it alittle not as good as it could be.
A great shame, because so much potential with these products, but having 2-3 months gap in any sort of communication surely can easily be fixed by having someone actual reply to emails or fb messages.
For £150, id say I was disappointed, if the communication was better, this would be a solid 4/5 review, as I honestly dont ever give bad feedback - if your looking for a quality horn, this is a great place, but be aware you will get 0 customer service and for several months youll come to the conclusion youve been scammed as its very bad customer service which could easily be fixed.

First I'd like to address your comment on the letter distancing, I used your exact logo that you supplied as a template and stencil. The distancing is as of the artwork. It could be the curvature of the horn making it seem different.

Secondly, we did ship your order on the 18th as we said. Unfortunately Royal Mail are VERY naughty this time of year (something I have fed back to them), as they will collect sacks from customers and NOT scan them at the depot because of the volume they have, and not wanting to effect their delivery estimates. This was told to us by our collection agent, as he was also frustrated by the practice.

I do apologise the horn too as long as it did. Fully custom pieces do take longer. But this was longer than we would have liked, and for that we do apologise. We acknowledge our customer service does need some work. We are a very small team, and are guilty of focusing efforts on production and dispatch, and emails being left longer than we would hope. This is something we are working on and currently implementing changes.

I am glad to hear you're happy with the quality of the horn, as that is where we excell.
