Knowing Hesta was offline until 2 June thought I'd give them some grace so didn't ring them until today 6 June 2025. After being on hold for just under two hours gave up. Being unavailable from mid-Ap... See more

Absolutely hopeless
Absolutely hopeless, we filled out and posted forms and two months later get an email saying my wife has been accepted but mine needs more information,we both filled out forms at the same time, how much information do they need , Bristol stool chart perhaps!
Useless insurance with AIA
Useless insurance with AIA, only cares when you are lying, as soon as you are honest with them they decline your insurance application.
No one home!
I just tried to get a balance on my account, 5 times an error to look online, then I called to get a balance and a recording " we are closed" what! I always used to be able to get a balance on line or by phone any day week day or weekend or public holiday, this is unexceptable. HESTA is not the HESTA I invested with!
Beyond terrible & stressful
Beyond terrible & stressful. After not being able to get access online to my account, many phone calls & getting it escalated to complaints only to be told around day 45 my account was locked due to 3rd party trying to access my account. Apparently they have proof someone pretended to be me, I asked if they reported it to the authorities and did not get an answer. I have a current complaint with AFCA. Will be filing a report with cybercrime, & looking at going with another fund. -5 actually. Get out while you can.
Tried to add nominated beneficiary and
Tried to add nominated beneficiary and
didn't hear anything back. Finally contacted them and was finally told my form was out of date. Sent updated form and still no reply. No one answers their phone etc.
Unacceptable and incompetent service
I sent multiple emails requesting a simple name change and received nothing but automated replies. After more than a week, there has been no update and no response from a real person. This level of incompetence is unacceptable for a large super fund trusted with people’s retirement savings. Other organisations updated my details within minutes. For a major super fund, this is shockingly inefficient and raises serious concerns about how member accounts are managed. Absolutely unacceptable service.
Dissatisfaction
This is the worst duperfunds out they have had all the forms from ato ordering them they have to pay 5days Max its been over 2 months for emergency dental thanks for wrecking my Xmas etc goodbye hesta im going sumwhere else you not fit to Handel my money anymore
I can’t access my online account
I can’t access my online account, and when I complain to Hesta they send a reply to the online account which I can’t access. I ring customer service who say someone will get back to me, which they do via the online account I can’t access. I’ve been trying for a month to access my money and have now had to go to AFCA to try to resolve the issue. Hesta have refused to do anything to help.
I have been trying to get my HESTA…
I have been trying to get my HESTA member number and transfer my super, but my experience has been frustrating. I never received my member number via email or post when I set up my account, which is my oversight, but now it has made things complicated.
I reached out multiple times to complete verification so I could access my account and transfer my funds. The verification form only allows Australian IDs, but I only have my home country’s passport and driver’s license. I asked HESTA for alternative options, but they could not provide clear guidance.
Despite my repeated emails and calls, I have received little to no response. On one occasion, when I called, their system was apparently down. Overall, I find the process extremely difficult and unresponsive, especially for members who do not have Australian identification. I do not recommend this fund.
Worst super company. Worst experience.
Overall lack of communication between staff. Lack of staff training resulting in poor record of client information and misunderstandings and delays.
Huge delays with processing payments.
Worst super company. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Stay away from this super
Stay away from this super. Waste of time and money. I had 6 missing contributions. Had to chase multiple times, they said they will get in touch but I need to chase them. My super is negative while my other super is increasing way better! Hard to log in once I had problem of deactivated number as no other options to log in.
Save yourself the heartache, just don't go there!
The issue of requesting early release of super for surgery has been ongoing for over six weeks now, and each time, new requirements or “goalposts” are introduced. Despite my ongoing frustration, I have responded immediately to every request, yet each response seems to create further delays in releasing the funds I urgently need for my upcoming surgery.
I have provided all requested documents — some of them multiple times — and have made at least ten phone calls (i am not kidding) without receiving a single return call. The repeated requests for identification that has already been supplied have caused unnecessary stress and prolonged this process far beyond what is reasonable.
Frankly, this has been the most disappointing and unprofessional experience I’ve had with any company. The lack of communication and consistency from HESTA has been unacceptable, and it has left me in an extremely position as shitty position as my surgery date has now been and gone due to having to postpone it because of HESTA. When I called AGAIN today, I was met with a customer service representative who was dismissive and unkind. Starting to think my surgery wont happen. Cant wait to go elsewhere!
I had a large sum of funds due back to…
I had a large sum of funds due back to me after studying in Australia and leaving . I provided all documents requested of me. Afterward, without further explanation or answering my questions they closed my case and refused to process my request for funds due back.
After 5 or 6 false starts with…
After 5 or 6 false starts with questions re benefit payment withdrawal, 48 hour turn around from releasing from the "Issue" queue to money being sent to my bank, a marked improvement from recent transactions. Using forms from early 2025 which have been approved as correct, putting in same info, i.e. bank account etc., so how they can say incorrect, but so the dance continues...maybe some day many years from now they will get it all correct!
Hesta service failure
We have had multiple problems with Hesta the new app is a total waste of time and money, clunky and features not functional. Trying to contact the is extremely lengthy and fail to get results, complaints get you a letter saying we meet the standards. But obviously not concerned by quality of member service. My wife and I both 40 year plus nurses closed our accounts. New intuition quickly in contact after accounts set up with a valued customer access number.
I'm trying to receive my Super deposit…
I'm trying to receive my Super deposit by ATO after I leave Australia. I worked at Childcare, GOODSTART, and received that payment and I was communicated by ATO. Since that , in AUGUST 2024, I'm trying to receive my Super. Many emails and mails where I sent all my documents: DAS, passport, drive license, Bank details etc. Each single time I send all documents, they create a new requirement. They even don't read appropriately the emails and Documents; they aren't responsable and trustful ! I left Australia in September 23, and for 14 months I'm struggling to get my money. I'm an old lady, of 65 years old, and I've been very disrespect by this company. Now they start wanting confirmation by my old phone number in Australia, but doesn't make any sense if I'm overseas more than 2 year.
Definitely I don't recommend this Company, plus if you hold a temporary Visa , is discriminated and plus disrespect by HESTA. Don't allow your employer deposit your Super at HESTA.
Worst communication
Worst communication. Unresponsive to numerous requests and when I finally made a formal complaint they were quick to advise they legally have 45 days to respond. I'm so anxious my money is tied up with them and currently looking for options so I can withdraw my total balance and go elsewhere.
Hesta misreported my super to ATO costing me tax and penalties
I completed my tax return today and found that Hesta has not reported all my additional contributions despite issuing notice of intent. I am left with an additional tax bill penalties and a late tax return. I made a formal complaint to Hesta and the AFCA. HESTA has not apologised for the huge error or promised to amend it and have just said they will respond in 45 days. Don't deal with these cowboys. They charge a 1% management fee which is outrageous for the worst possible service.
Hesta is by far the worst…
Hesta is by far the worst superannuation company I have ever dealt with. It took 2 months to withdraw superannuation from my account after they were offline with no access to my account for 1 month. Waiting time for customer service was 3 hours on four separate occasions. I had provided all necessary information and could not receive any satisfactory answer from customer service for the extremely lengthy process. There is no communication between the customer service team and the section of the company that actually carries out the financial transactions, so customer service is of little or no use. When I filed an official complaint and requested an explanation for the constant delay, I wasn’t given any, only a superficial apology with several inaccurate details. It’s plain that this superannuation fund does not care about its members. The worst thing is that during this period, when thousands of other members were calling and complaining and trying to access their funds, Hesta kept up a constant advertising campaign to attract new customers! Appalling service, poor management and little concern for its members. Any other super fund except Hesta!
If there is negative star review I'd…
If there is negative star review I'd give it -10!
I sent them request for withdrawal, they asked for documents. I give them documents they make me wait 2 weeks then say the doc is not certified, i get it certified they make me wait another 2 weeks and say need another document to be certified.
If there is another chance I'll not choose Hesta, not ever.
