I bought the new wash original and the Lift styling spray back at the end of July. I have always had fine hair that lacked volume. THESE PRODUCTS HAVE RUINED MY HAIR. Ridiculously expensive, but, when you have fine hair you believe the hype and hope to have finally found the solution. My hair is breaking off and I have more hair loss. I have bought a wig and am awaiting a salon appointment to be assessed for a more permanent solution. PLEASE DO NOT RISK THIS PRODUCT. I took the chance thinking that the negative reviews may be anomalies but please believe them. My hair has NEVER been this thin or damaged. IT IS NOT GOOD FOR FINE HAIR.

I went into using this product with really high hopes given the Instagram stories and feedback but I can genuinely say my hair texture has never been this bad. My hairdresser even asked yesterday what I was using as he said it felt very. I have pushed through to 2 months of use and if anything it feels worse not better than the early weeks. I bought the shampoo and styling products so over £80 to make my hair worse, really disappointed.

This is the latest version of low shampoo, which I have tried before. It made my hair very soft and tangle free, but I still have an itchy scalp and it hasn’t changed how frequently I wash my hair. My hair hasn’t fallen out (as some poor souls have reported) but there’s been no miraculous results either. Two stars as it wasn’t awful, but it’s about ten times the cost of other brands, which do the same thing. Don’t waste your money.

After reading so many poor reviews I felt obligated to leave this fantastic review for Hairstory with some advice for people trying it out! If you go straight from washing your hair every day with a sulphate shampoo and a silicone conditioner then your hair will go through a greasy messy transition period that takes 6 weeks (or longer for some people!) to clear up. I think this is why so many people are unhappy with the product at first. This isn’t the products fault! It takes time for your hair to get used to not having to over produce oil.

I began using new wash (original) but had already cut out sulphate shampoos & silicone conditioners for a long time. I had also gradually transitioned from washing every day to every 3 days and then more recently once a week. So my hair had already gone through the horrible transition phase. The results I have from new wash are just incredible! It cleans my hair while leaving it super soft and shiny (even through I have a full head of blond highlights). My advice is to get the rubber brush for the shower or a similar brush to make sure you really scrub your scalp. This also helps to rinse the product out properly. For me this product gets 5 stars because it does not contain any surfactants (many non-sulphate shampoos still have surfactants) but cleans my hair while leaving it soft and healthy

I have never reviewed a product before but I am so disappointed by the Hairstory Rich New Wash I wanted to write here in the hopes of helping someone save their money. I have tried 2 packets of the Rich New Wash over about 2 months. My fine coloured hair is more brittle after using Hairstory, the ends seem to have broken off & my scalp is flaky & itchy. This was a costly purchase & I was doubtful after a few uses but felt I should persevere as I had read such great things plus spent so much. I was especially impressed by the review by India Knight, who I typically find honest & has great recommendations. Check out the ingredients; I was skeptical when I saw how many seemed to be alcohol related, something known for stripping hair of life.

This has been a costly mistake over & above how dull & ruined my hair now looks.

I had to write a review after reading all the bad reviews. I am the fussiest person on the planet with my hair. It is quite fine and usually lacks volume and is always greasy looking the next day after washing. I started using the original new wash and from day one my hair felt like it has never felt before. Immediately u notice when wet is my comb glides through. With normal shampoo it’s hard to comb when wet. After air drying my hair is shiny, bouncy and I have never received so many compliments about my hair. 6 weeks later my hair is just as good. I also use a few squirts of distressed. All I can think with all the bad reviews is they are not rinsing their hair properly as honestly my hair isn’t easy and hairstory has literally changed my life 😊

I had hoped that this product would help control my curly hair during the oppressive humid days that we experience here in the Midwest. I liked the consistency, scent & the fact that it encourages the customer air dry their hair, that it doesn’t require heat to ‘activate’. After using only Hairstory products for 5-6 months my hair began to fall out; so much so that my hair dresser asked me what I was doing differently. She showed me all of the hair left in the bowl after washing & I was shocked. I told her that I was seeing the same thing at home. She suggested going to a dermatologist to have my scalp checked or to have bloodwork done. I immediately stopped using Hairstory & went back to the products I used before. I wasn’t able to get into a dermatologist due to the pandemic. I’m happy to report that my hair has grown back about 2 ½ inches & bloodwork shows no medical reason for the loss of hair. Now my frizzy locks contain new hair growth & I’m ok with that.

I have relatively dry hair, and for almost two years have been able to use normal shampoo/conditioner once every 7-10 days with some dry shampoo for bridging. I switched to Hairstory "deep" after a salon visit, and after using about once a week for almost two months, I'm wildly disappointed. It leaves my hair looking and feeling greasy despite using the special comb (which is worthless), lots of scrubbing/rinsing, and trying more/less product. I've started to dread my wash days, because it looks the worst freshly washed, and only starts to look more alive after a few days of dry shampoo use. I was hoping this would be a great way to help add moisture to my dry hair and maintain my low maintenance wash schedule, but this stuff is essentially like washing your hair with lotion that you can never quite remove fully. Avoid avoid avoid.

I was very disappointed with this. I bought it following a review from someone whose recommendations are usually good for me. I had mixed results initially but took the advice of the hairstory team. The only way I can get nice hair is to use about twice as much product as the combined amount of shampoo and conditioner I usually use, wash my hair more frequently and spend a lot longer rinsing it out, which added to the extra expense just doesn’t make sense to me. I really wanted this to work, was excited to try it and am reluctantly returning to shampoo and conditioner.

I really wanted to write a good review for New Wash, but sadly the product really didn’t suit me. I have been using New Wash (started on Original and following some email exchanges with the customer services team, I moved over to Deep) for 7 weeks now and my hair is super greasy, flat and lifeless - even though I use it every day.

I was told that people with particularly fine hair that tends to get greasy quickly may have a longer transition period of up to 8 weeks, so I have been keeping going for the last 7 weeks, hoping my hair would adjust. Unfortunately I have now really reached the point where I can’t go out in public with hair like this!

I have been using a generous amount of product, and also purchased the scalp brush to help distribute evenly and massage the scalp. I make sure to rinse very thoroughly. As far as I can tell I am following all of the guidance given in order to get the best results, but no joy! I’m going to have to go back to shampoo! :(

I will say that Hairstory’s customer service is really excellent though! I’ve had a number of exchanges with them and they have been really pleasant and helpful and it felt like they really genuinely wanted me to get on with New Wash and get the best out of it. Maybe it just doesn’t work on all hair?

5 stars for customer service and experience but 1 star for the product itself.

I have used their excellent product since the first lockdown. I love it. It is expensive but it lasts for ages and I only have to wash my hair two or three times a week instead of every day with normal shampoo and conditioner. My hair is much shinier looks so much better, I no longer use conditioner which before would have left me looking like one of the three witches in McBeth but now I dont need it with Hairstory. You have to give your scalp time to readjust to the product but after 2 weeks I was loving the difference and the lack of plastic bottles etc makes me feel better at my rampant consumerism.

I actually thought this product was going to change my life. I was so excited to try it because I had read great reviews and seen pictures of people who had had their hair washed with New Wash at some salons I admire and they looked fantastic. I also had recently been dealing with an adverse reaction to some medication I had been taking that caused me to get extremely dry, flaky skin and huge amounts of buildup and I had read that New Wash could help with that. So I took the online test and it told me to buy New Wash RICH. I am not sure if I simply got the wrong formula for my hair but I cannot put into words how bad New Wash was for me. It literally killed my curls. My hair was limp and flat and had no life. I also was never able to fully wash the product out of my hair, even if I spent 10 minutes on just the rinse. My hair had a greasy film on it and it was weirdly frizzy despite there being a heavy, almost wet film. I really can't express to anyone reading this how bad I looked and how my confidence was shattered. I had had all the problems with my scalp plus a traumatic haircut and then this happened. I contacted Hair Story and was told that I simply needed an "adjustment period" which could last up to 6 weeks (seriously??) But I wanted it to work so badly I just kept using it despite how awful it looked and felt. I used it for months and although I wasn't having problems with my scalp anymore, none of the other problems went away. I would never, ever recommend this product to anyone , neither would I buy it again. I cannot believe that they know full well about the so-called adjustment period and don't offer free samples so you can see if it even works for you. The customer service I dealt with, while not rude, also was not helpful. She couldn't give me specific information about how to use the product even though it seems like you need to know something I don't to get it to work properly. On top it seems as if they may have advised me to choose the wrong type for my hair. The company didn't even offer to send me the Original formula when I told them what was happening with my hair. Honestly I feel like this company just wants your money and after that they couldn't care less if it actually works or how you, the customer, likes it. VERY disappointed in the product and the company.

The service was good but the pricing was a bit high to my mind and the products weren't the best. Just dropped in there to check it. I guess I'm gonna use my old store.

This product not only left my hair tangled--despite following their instructions to a T--but also made my hair greasy (it's NEVER greasy), and flaky. I also discovered that, after two weeks of use, my hair started falling out. Probably works for some people, but the amount of shampoo you get for the price is also inadequate.

Absolutely terrible DO NOT be taken in by this. I spent £120 on the products recommended by them all were far too small and over priced but worst of all the New Wash was just completely in effective it served absolutely no purpose after using it I started drying my hair only to realise my hair was still dirty. I had to go back in the shower and re-wash my hair using a real product. Absolutely appalling. I want my money back.

So happy I made the switch to their shampoo/conditioner combo. Literally the way my hair is completely tangle-free after air drying reminds me of the crazy futuristic hair dryer in The Hunger Games lol. I had no issues transitioning from my previous shampoo. I recently got highlights and after researching color-safe shampoos I came across Hairstory. I can go longer in between washes too which saves shower time and my hair is always soft after each wash.

I got their bundle box and honestly would only recommend their shampoo/conditioner formula with the scalp scrubbing thing which feels nice. Dry shampoo powder smells like actual baby powder and their wax product doesn’t do much for me especially when going outdoors (maybe I’m not using it correctly).

Firstly, I love this product, I have been using New Wash exclusively, for almost 4 years now, my hair feels light and healthy and I can comb through it like butter straight out of the shower, no tangles or knots. I love that it's a single product and I no longer need heavy conditioning treatments and leave-in conditioners on top of my shampoo/conditioner. I love that it comes in a refill envelope reducing plastic waste and the resulting carbon footprint. I've had a few issues with shipping and ordering over the years and the company has always resolved the issue quickly and beyond my expectations. Prior to buying, and later when inquiring about some of their styling products, I asked a million questions with multiple emails back and forth. Each person I spoke with was kind and helpful and answered all my questions. I'm overall extremely happy with both the customer service and the products they sell.

Seriously... I have shoulder length silver/ gray , THIN HAIR and truthfully wasn’t expecting much. So here we go... no suds , I combed through like instructed and RINSED, RINSED AND RINSED some more! My hair dried naturally , full, shiny, manageable ! Secret here is RINSE! Adore this product!

I won't say that the product doesn't work, because it clearly does for some people. But here is the reality, a 30-day return policy is useless if it's recommended to stick with the product for at least a month to see if it works. I bought two New Washes, the Hair Balm and the brush, and all I have is two months of greasy hair to show for it. I tried every tip, and really wanted this to be life changing, but I cannot wash my hair every day or spend so much on a product like this.

Beyond expensive. Their advice after I advised them it was still leaving my hair feeling greasy and unclean after weeks of use was “wash it twice using more”.
