The Croft at Grobdale of Girthon is the most delightful, comfortable, cosy and well equipped cottage. Our hosts gave us a lovely welcome and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed to make the most of our stay including a lovely Welcome hamper, making suggestions about local places to visit and providing detailed information about local amenities and walks. Being in the midst of a small farm was an extra bonus with lambs to cuddle, horses and piglets to watch, fresh eggs from the chickens and ducks and delicious sausages and bacon from their own reared animals. The surrounding countryside is ideal for those who wish to walk with lots of well marked footpaths and local opportunities to view Red Kites in their natural habit and up close at nearby feeding stations. The couple of rainy days did not spoil our stay and knowing there was a cosy wood burner in the Croft to return to as well as a towel to dry off our wet dog made a wet day walking a pleasure. We look forward to returning to recharge our batteries in the near future

A terrific retreat in a wonderful location, the accommodation is of the highest standards.
We spent a wonderful and relaxing few nights at Grobdale of Girthon. The Croft was warm and extremely comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen - perfect for preparing the delicious local foods.
The welcome basket was a lovely touch and included the eggs of the hens we could see.
The large window seat was perfect for viewing the Red Kites with the supplied field glasses.
Sarah, Andrew and Lauren were welcoming and perfect hosts and we are planning to return.

Having just spent a relaxing week at The Croft cottage we cannot recommend Grobdale highly enough. The owners Sarah, Andy and Lauren gave us a very warm welcome and the accommodation is immaculate and extremely well equipped. The large picture window gives a panoramic view of the stunning scenery and the log burner makes the cottage so cosy. Sarah is always on hand to ensure that guests have everything they need for a memorable holiday and her attention to detail even included fresh flowers and a lovely Welcome Hamper. We have no hesitation in recommending Grobdale and can assure anyone deciding to book a break that they won’t be disappointed.
What a wonderful place Grobdale is. From the moment you drive onto the track you feel you are miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We stayed in The Dairy and it’s beautifully decorated throughout. All the comforts needed to relax with an outstanding bed. One of the comfiest we have ever slept in. Great welcome pack complete with treats for Syd our dog.
Outside was lovely to be able to see the animals from the farm and space for Syd to run around.
Sarah, Andy and Lauren made you very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Andy was an absolute star when we had trouble with our car!
The stars at night are phenomenal lovely seating area to sit back and gaze upwards.
We will definitely be re booking!

Lovely cottage, beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything you need for a holiday. Great location too, so quiet and peaceful and a great place to see stars on a clear night. Sarah was so welcoming and had plenty of good tips on where to go in the area.
The generous welcome pack was greatly appreciated (by the dog too). A lot of work has gone into getting all the little details right here. Will hopefully return again in the future.
Always a treat staying at Grobdale. This is our third stay and we love the peace and quiet on the farm. We also love walking on the beaches nearby (Carrick is my favourite) and Sunday carvery at The Masonic in Gatehouse.
The Croft is a wonderful one bedroom self catering, single storey recently constructed building. Beautifully furnished and has a super window seat. A great place for people with limited mobility.
The area is in the Dark Skies forest region and the stars at night are so bright, and there are plenty of places to visit and walk.
Sarah could not have been more helpful and the pork grown on the farm is made into sausages, bacon and joints are highly recommended. Thanks for a lovely stay , we will be back!!
Thanks Sarah , Lauren & Andy for a magical stay at Grobdale farm. Our cottage The Byre was amazing so clean and beautifully decorated. Sarah is the perfect hostess who manages to ensure all your needs are met while still maintaining your privacy. My 9 yr old granddaughter was included in the farm, feeding the pigs & horses every day .. oh and My daughter and I got involved in a bit of sheep wrangling, best laugh we’ve had for a long time. The views over the property are amazing and the stars at night enchanting. So quiet and peaceful .. ..This is my family’s 3rd visit to Grobdale, my first .. we will be back .. thx from Grani Ani xxx
Another most enjoyable week at Grobdale of Girthon. The Byre is very comfortable and well appointed. Sarah is a friendly and helpful host. The surrounding countryside and walks are great. We highly recommend Grobdale of Girthon.
Superb place. Host Sarah was so welcoming and helpful. The location is stunning - the surrounding area, and the farm itself with sheep, pigs and horses and super views. The property was spotless, very well equipped and very nicely decorated with quality fittings. Welcome pack appreciated, and local guide info great. Recommend and will look to return as there is still so much more to see and do nearby.
If you love the natural beauty of Scotland, you will be as overjoyed with Grobdale of Girthon as we were. The Dairy was a fabulous stylish, tasteful and comfortable conversion of an agricultural building, the hosts have thought of everything. They are on hand to welcome you and give excellent advice and guidance about things to do. Their passion for the area is infectious, we loved everything about our stay. The guest information file is very informative, well put together and clearly presented. We enjoyed excellent weather, exploring the area, played golf and spent time on the outside patio, which is very well furnished, with fire pit and BBQ. The farm animals are delightful and we brought home some of their honey and hand reared pork from the Tamworth pigs. We can't wait to return. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.
On arrival we were greeted by the owners who gave us a quick tour of our accommodation and left us to it. We had everything you would need with beautiful views all round. Getting around was simple enough with plenty of knowledge of the surrounding area available. We ran out of a few food supplies and the on-site farm shop provided high quality produce, all reared in the local farming community well worth paying that little extra. The information pack also helped us out of a few tight spots (car trouble) where we found reliable trades man at a reasonable price.
Walks around the local area and neighbouring villages/towns/beaches gave us plenty to do during the day and at night we had both outdoor and indoor fire options creating a calm relaxing even dare I say romantic environment. Loved every second here and plan to return soon.
We wanted a place that was quiet and restful, Grobdale was all that and more. Sarah and Andrew along with their daughter were the perfect hosts, nothing was too much for them. Getting on in age we found the wooden seats in the kitchen area were rather hard but apart from that we could not fault anything, we would have no difficulty in recommending Grobdale to all of our friends and we wish Sarah and Andrew success in all they do.
Myself and my daughter have just come back from our stay in the Croft cottage at Grobdale and all I can say is ‘WOW’ the photographs do not fully show how stunning this accommodation is! It very much felt like home as it had everything you need for your time away with a beautiful added bonus of a welcome basket. The surrounding area is stunning and the Hunter family are wonderful hosts. If I could give this stay more than 5 stars I would! Can not recommend this place enough.
My partner and I had a lovely week at Grobdale at the end of July, we stayed in the Croft which was ideal for the two of us being spacious and comfortable with everything you need to hand. There was a very nice welcome hamper waiting for us along with a very warm welcome.
The driveway is a mile long but you never fail to see something different as you head for the road. We saw Deer, Black Grouse, Kite’s flying overhead and of course some very happy farm animals! It’s a farm track which is well maintained and was fine for our low slung car!
Grobdale is “away from it all” (which is what we were looking for) providing a fantastic place to escape to and recharge the batteries! Having said that, local amenities are easily accessible.
Thank you Andy, Sarah and Lauren for sharing your fabulous location and for being brilliant hosts.
We are both looking forward to returning very soon.
Keith & Sue
This was our 3rd time booking all 3 cottages in Grobdale for a family holiday. Tranquil surroundings, very clean cottages, with Sarah being the most generous host that goes all out to ensure guests' (including dogs) needs are always met. Fantastic base for exploring the many coastal regions, and eateries that are close or a short drive away. As always, we didn't want to leave.

A return visit which did not disappoint. We love it here! Sarah and Lauren made us feel very much part of the family. Our 8year old loves helping out with the pigs, horses, ducks and sheep. The Dairy is stunning with plenty room for a family of four plus a four legged friend. Mabel our labradoodle was made to feel very much part of things. Walks in the field were blissful and good for the soul. Plenty of nearby places to visit for all the family. Lovely restaurants and cafes in the area to keep their bellies full. Another glorious week at Grobdale! We all love it and get so much from our stay. Thanks Sarah, Andy, Lauren and Jim for allowing us to experience a little bit of your heaven x

We had a lovely stay at Grobdale, the cottage we stayed in was The Byre, Sarah was a wonderful host making us very welcome from the outset. . Everything we could want was in the cottage , which is very dog friendly. It was very clean and Sarah was always on hand if we were to have any problems and advice on where to visit.
Anyone booking the cottage has to be aware that it is on a farm and is about three miles away from Gatehouse of Fleet, which is a lovely village and near enough to the A75 which allows travel to nearby towns and villages.
There is a long a long bumpy drive to the farmhouse but once we had training from Sarah on how to move the cows on that wasn't a problem.
As a plus we got a Tesco grocery delivery on our a arrival day which was definitely worth the delivery charge.
We would recommend Grobdale to anyone wanting a friendly peaceful place to stay with terrific views.
