Over $3000 of Medical Debt due to this company.

Not once has this company paid for my medical bills.

They take advantage of international students who are not aware that giving insurance information will inflate the cost of bills, charge them $70+ per month, and just leave all of their actual policies, which are basically to opposite of what they advertise to get out of paying in their fine print, assuming you won't read it and don't care about their customers at all. I now have over $3000 in medical bills that would have been less if I didn't have insurance at all. I've also wasted months of my life trying to file appeals explaining how I reasonably should not have to pay under their policy, and again, they don't care because they know they can get away with it. It's been 3 years since I lived in the States and I am still receiving new bills about claims that they have denied, because as it turns out, they paid for nothing.

This company is 100% a scam. Do not sign with them. Just say you don't have insurance, and negotiate the bill directly with the hospital or clinic. It will cost you much less, maybe even nothing, depending on the State you are in.

Delaying tactics

My claim was accepted back in December 2023 - all set for payment release. It is now April and I am still yet to see any payment. This company appears to use deliberate delaying tactics, so that you give up and forget about being owed any money.

Only because I had to put one star

Only because I had to put one star. Terrible waiting months to be reimbursed when they quote 5-7 business days. When you call they give some excuse on why it's taking so long. I called yesterday and was advised "sorry it's tax season it's taking longer than usual" I've been waiting over a month. Horrible wish our union would change companies!!!!!

Say they paid but don’t send proof of payment

I’ve been waiting to receive a proof of payment for more than a month, they say they have paid it but don’t send proof of payment. In the beginning of the contract they were very fast, now that the insurance period is about to expire they don’t care anymore. Not paying claims that were approved, not sending proof of payment.

Saved money on purchase and saved on health expense

I took the International Student insurance plan "GBG Navy plus 100" for waiving my University of Colorado Boulder insurance and saved more than $2,000. I used the insurance, and GBG paid the my hospital a claim of almost $11k which was a big relief.

I recommend this plan from GBG and you can take it from Ankit from Secure Cover in India before coming to the US. He helped me in purchasing the right plan and guided me all through claim processing as well.

My benifets are “ALL” being reduced and my single coverage rate/month has almost doubled in the past year. I am going to recommend to the union that we switch our insurance coverage. Way better insurance companies out there. Our union is very disappointed with Global Benefits.

Scam Scam Scam

Scam Scam Scam - This company should be sued, reported, closed down. I have been an expats in 7 countries, I have never EVER seen anything like this.
Declines GP visits; takes 3 months to reimburse anything and it takes a push to HR to escalate 3 times to their contact; Deepak at customer service asks for detailed receipts when you already sent all you have. Ho and get this: minimum amount they can wire is 50USD so after we left them, we could basically sit on the previous claim that was for less than 50USD because "We have reviewed in our system, and we will be unable to transfer through wire as it is less than the threshold amount of 50.00USD for bank transfer. We will transfer this amount by adding in your future payments."
Thank God we are through with this garbage company and nothing bad happened to us this year.

Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible. They say they will pay you within 2 weeks. I have been waiting for 3 months. I have called several times and have written many emails. They just ignore you. They still have not paid me out. All they say is: "Your claim has been sent to accounting on priority." It has been in priority for the last 3 months. This is the worst service. If you want health insurance, I suggest you go with a company that actually provides a service.

Claims approved, but money never sent. Stay away!

They have failed to send the money to cover my husband's medical bills for the past 3(!) months. According to customer service our claims have been approved a long time ago, but they just are not sending the money. Why? God knows! They have been finding one excuse after the other and trying to placate us with "we are sorry we have forwarded your case to our billing department with great urgency" for weeks now but still have failed to send any money. We are now forced to discontinue my husband's medical care because of this scam company as we can not keep paying for it out of our own pockets for the 4th month in a row not knowing when of we will be receiving the reimbursement we have a right to - or if ever. Treating sick people in such a way is utterly disgusting - I can only recommend to stay the hell away from GBG!

@GBG thank you for your reply. The date of birth of my husband is May 9th 1988, name is Martínez. He has written countless emails to GBG about this issue already, about every other day over the past weeks, so it should be easy to find this conversation. We just keep getting the same response of "sorry we have forwarded it it will be done as soon as possible". Unfortunately apologies won't pay our bills.

What a sh**ty insurance company

What a sh**ty insurance company. Communication is extremely slow and unreliable.
I inquire about something, they say we will get back to you....
over a week later I hear nothing, only to find out they're waiting for me to send them a document!
They never told me I needed to send anything to them!

They don't do direct billing, their customer service is constantly misspelling words (inspires confidence doesn't it?)

Absolute worst insurance company ever

Absolute worst insurance company ever. I am a 48 year old man, and have had insurance since I was 15. I have never had more than a copay to see a doctor, and then the doctors office contacts insurance and all is settled-not with GBG. I emailed them about having strong pain in my left chest, arm and shoulder, and was going to head to South Africa to get treated. Prior to leaving, i asked them to send me hospitals in their network, which they did. I picked the hospital closest to my hotel, the secretary even said they work with GBG and all i had to do was to get GBG to authorize the visit and all would be handled.Well, I emailed GBG and didn't hear back from them for 2 days. Contacted my representative, and it went online this for two weeks, GBG was claiming my emails weren't going through, when all they had to do, was reply back instead of doing a new email. They asked me to give them an alternate email, which i did, same result. I wasted 2 weeks in Joburg, with no accomplishment. GBG told me my issue wasnt covered even though we are supposed to have full coverage worldwide. GBG said I would have to pay out of pocket, then I would get reimbursed-the price for a CT scan and an MRI? 1000 US dollars. Correct, gbg wanted me to pay 1000 dollars out of pocket with full insurance! I flew to Tanzania and had it done there 600 dollars. I submitted the GBG online checklist copies of my receipts. GBG told me they needed to pe in PDF, so I converted them to PDF, and sent them in. Then GBG said I needed to send in the checklist again, even though I had already sent them in. This has been going on 2 weeks now. They say they can't see the receipts and all the info, even though you really can. I just emailed them and told them, to stop emailing me,that I will be getting a lawyer. They are a bunch of scammers-you have been warned!

DENIED

This company keeps saying that a needed procedure is experimental. My doctor has performed the procedure several times and all procedures were paid by insurance companies. They are the only one denying the RFA procedure. This is a big expense for a patient and they also said that it is an unnecessary procedure despite the doctor's advise. Shame on you!

This is the worst company you could ever work for and they are a scam. They will NEVER pay for any of your bills, you will contact them and they will say they are not in charge of billing and that you should contact a different department.
Whenever I called them they never had my information and it was like I never had a service with them even though I paid for their services.

FRAUD/SCAM - Good luck if you bought from GBG

This is one of one of the worst Insurance companies you will ever deal with. FRAUD/SCAM would be the right term to describe this company. Read reviews before buying any product from them.It was same as being un-insured rather than having an GBG policy . You will Only know when you file a claim. They will say everything is an pre-existing condition and will deny the claim. Forgot to mention that they take 1+ years to process the claim. Good luck.
